Another pastor hilang

Sos2

Sos1

KUALA LUMPUR, March 14 — A pastor and his wife are now believed to be missing but the information available to the police now is insufficient, a report said.

According to news portal Malaysiakini, Pastor Joshua Hilmy and his wife had been reported as missing by an individual claiming to be their close friend.

Citing a police report dated March 6, Malaysiakini said the man believed the couple have been missing since last November as they had not spoken with each other from that time onwards.

“This is not normal because we often keep in touch and contact each other at least a few times every month.

“Since November 2016, he hasn’t contacted me and my attempts to contact him have failed until today.

“For these reasons, I believe that he and his wife are missing and I am very worried about their safety,” the man was quoted saying in the police report.

While he initially thought the couple had gone holidaying, he later lodged the police report after speaking to their other friends.

The man reportedly said he could not give the police much information about the couple, also noting that he no longer had the pastor’s phone number.

“Two months ago, his number was with me. I tried calling (him) and I never got any replies.

“Then after some time, I deleted the number so I don’t have the number anymore,” the man was quoted saying.

Malaysiakini did not name the man who had lodged the police report.

Petaling Jaya police chief ACP Mohd Zani Che Din reportedly said police would be unable to find the couple’s residence and verify that they are missing, if the basic information was lacking.

“We have already interviewed the complainant, and the problem is the complainant cannot give us any information about them.

“He (the complainant) doesn’t know the car plate number or their address, something that would give us a head start,” he was quoted telling Malaysiakini.

Another pastor, Raymond Koh, was abducted on February 13 and is still missing a month on. The Selangor police has formed a special taskforce to probe his case while his family has offered up to RM100,000 as reward for information that can lead to his safe return.

Slow ka? If selow, i close. Thx.

Hi all, currently I'm trying to figure out what is this rank transform approach analysis/rank regression analysis. Has anyone ever use these methods in their studies before? How do I do this in SPSS? Can't seem to find anything while researching. Btw, I am from the social sciences background. Thanks.

I've been working for 3 years++ and realise something bout myself.
Let's take an example of a one-year timeline.

January-June (can work really hard and is really productive)
End of June (take leave and go on a holiday break for 1-2 weeks)
July-August/Sept (feels no mood at all to go to work after coming back from holidays, it's like the feeling, so what now??)
Sept-Dec (momentum to work slowly picks up again =/)

I'm wondering is there any way you guys actually deal with this if this does happen to you?
Any advise?

Time Management

Hihi, I was talking with my supervisor the other day and she told me to manage my time properly so that I can finish my studies on time. I'm currently taking MPhil (Accounting). Also, she advised that consistency is very important.

I'm actually a part time student (full-time working as a lecturer for the pre-uni department in the uni...teaching hours is 20 hours per week). Anyone of you here is actually taking PhD/MPhil on a part time basis? How do you ensure that you will always be consistent in your study?

For e.g in my case, when I have 4-6 hours of class per day, normally when I got back home, I will be too tired to touch anything on research already How do you motivate yourself to get up and get it done?

Early thanks for sharing advise/experience.
I need to learn from my fellow seniors here.

Reviewers

I believe most of you doing PhD or MPhil here had published in some journals or going to publish in the near future.
Since the trend nowadays is "publish before viva voce/publish before you can graduate", I have a few questions that I'm interested to know about:

1) how long does it take for your paper to be accepted into a journal?
2) normally what kinds of questions does the reviewer brought up?
3) when do you start writing a paper? After data collection? In the middle of your enrollment? Beginning of your enrollment?

Thanks for sharing

Candidacy
Hi all,

I have a question here. Hope you guys can shed some light on this matter.

For those who are taking MSc, MPhil, PhD (all by research), do you have to go through a candidacy? A preliminary presentation in order for you to be confirmed as a candidate for the university?

If no, then it's alright.

If yes, before your candidacy presentation, do you guys actually circulate your full candidacy proposal to everyone (e.g all academics in the school) before your presentation or only the abstract?

Thanksss!

some input before I eventually decide

Dear all,

I am on a crossroad in between choosing a postgraduate studies (masters) in either
a) coursework
b) by research

A little bit about me:
- do not have a family yet
- full-time working in a university (lecturing and tutoring) - a total of 22 hours per week
- if I were to take Master by Research- I do not have to pay as I will be taking it from my uni (in return, I have to be bonded with my uni)
- if I were to take Master by Coursework- I have to pay at least RM20k (uni not funding any coursework degree)

I have been reading around this forum, and I've seen forumers stating that postgraduate by research holds lot of uncertainties.

I am very new in research as I've not done any research before even in my undergraduate.

What's your advise?

Should I go for masters by research or coursework?

People have told me to listen to my heart and what I really wanted. And the reason I am here is because, there's just so many things in my mind, that I can't decide properly.
