Which area is best for a single guy?

Bangsar, Hartamas, Mont Kiara, KLCC area, Ampang Embassy Row, Damansara Uptown/Jaya ... which area is best for a single, bachelor for life guy?

Let's say I like a lively, happening area .... wide variety of food (both cheap and pricey ones), malls, maybe some nightspots, and lots of hot girls.

I don't mind foreigners if they are whites or East Asians like Koreans, Japanese, Chinese. Arabs - a few of them are ok, but I prefer an area where there's not too many of them.

I currently live in Section 13, PJ (moved to Klang Valley last year) and find the area (and nearby areas) quite 'dead' at night.

QUOTE

The property market may be seeing a downturn amidst local and global economic uncertainties but that will not deter Tiong from buying a property if it is a good deal. After all, she believes property investment is a stable income generator for a long-term financial plan.

The blogger has felt the impact of the market slowdown herself especially when she received offers for her apartment asking for over 30% discount on the asking price.

“I’m constantly looking for a good time to cash out but I am not in a hurry to sell my properties. However, I am quite surprised with the offers I have recently received as I thought after some years of holding the property which I bought five years ago, it should be worth more than before,” she tells TheEdgeProperty.com, but declines to reveal the asking price of the said property.

Despite the market slowdown, Tiong is still keen on looking for investment opportunities if a good deal arises.

Tiong currently owns two high-rise properties in Old Klang Road, Kuala Lumpur which she purchased about five to six years ago for investment. Currently, these two properties are being rented out.

I have spoken to a few ppl and can con-firm that asking for over 30% discount to asking price or even transacted price is quite normal these days.
Faith in doctors/hospital lost

I attended an exhibition near KLCC a few months ago. The "bouncers" at the entrance made everyone to register before they allow us in. Among the items in the gift bag we received was a blood test voucher - but I didn't go do the blood test cause I was too busy.

But this week I received calls from the hospital that issued the voucher asking me to go for the blood test. Apparently they got my details from the organiser of the exhibition - I'm not sure if I gave the organiser permission to share my details with the hospital when I registered

So I let the old nurse take my blood and a few hours later I went back to the hospital to collect the results.

That's when the "doctor" who was supposed to consult me on the results start selling their "health screening packages". He compared his hospital's packages with other hosiptals and say his packages are the cheapest.

The "doctor" barely glanced at my blood test results but tried to create fear like that I may have this sickness or that sickness that their RM1XXX sickness can help detect.

I said I need time to consider it but the doc keeping pressuring me to take their packages.

When I give a final "no", he gave me a "black face" and said "well, if you can't afford it ...."

Totally unprofesional. He gives the impression he is only interested in selling and don't give a damn about my interests.

* the hospital is one of the smaller, lesser known ones - won't name them.

Will you buy subsale house with big altar

I recently viewed a house that is selling considerably cheaper than the market asking price.

Everything is ok except the house has a very big altar/prayer table (those red types used by Chinese households) that troubled me.

I'll like to ask experts here (especially Buddhists, Toaists, Hindus) - is it ok/safe/recommend to remove the altar if I buy the house or will it offend "someone" in the "other world".

Why the big altar? Is it because the place has bad history/feng shui/haunting?

Will you guys and gals even buy houses with altars?

Is it easy for a guy to get female housemate?

I am planning to rent an apartment in Section 13, PJ (near Jaya 33) in a few months.

Trying to decide where to rent a 366sq ft studio for around RM1600 or to rent a 2-room unit for RM2000 and then sub-let (rent out) a room to a housemate (preferably female) for RM800-RM1000 (market rate for rooms there). If I sub-let a room to a housemate, I'll save a few hundred ringgit but have to sacrifice my privacy.

1. My main question is: Generally speaking, would a female student or office lady (non-Muslim) be willing to stay with a non-Muslim guy in his 30s who does not look too creepy?

2. Irrelevent question: Subang Taylors/Inti/Sunway college girls vs PJ BAC/TAR/UM college girls - any comments?

* Sorry I need to ask this because I never had a housemate before, not even when I was studying as my college was near my house.
Anyone interested to get a unit of South View Serviced Apartment in Bangsar South?

Due to too many commitments, I am letting go of the unit I booked.

All I ask is a RM1,000 fee to cover the penalty for withdrawing my booking.

My unit is 815sf, 2r 2b, mid-floor, facing east, swimming pool/mid-valley view. Developer price is around RM760,000 after 5% discount and 5% rebate.

My unit is the only 2r 2b unit available to buyers - all other 2r 2b units are fully booked while the bigger units are selling at over RM1 million.

South View is the only freehold apartment in Bangsar South and it's near Universiti LRT station. It's still under construction and expected completion date is early 2017.

Kindly PM me if interested. Thanks.

Dental fillings: Alternatives to amalgam

Hi all,

I have a couple of holes in hard-to-reach places of my teeth, including one in the back of my teeth. My regular dentist wants to fill them with amalgam (silver) which contains 50% mercury but I am uncomfortable with this.

Can someone kindly recommend me a good dentist (preferably in Subang, Sunway or PJ) that offers mercury free filling? What type of non-amalgam filling is best for hard to reach places in the back of teeth? And how much do they usually cost?

Thank you.

Hi all,

I am staying in one of the condos in SS16, Subang Jaya (the condos between Mesiniaga and Aeon Big) and would like to ask: Which wireless broadband service provider (U-Mobile, Yes, Digi, Maxis or Celcom) works best (as in always able to connect and reasonably fast speed) in this area?

I'll be using the internet inside the condo mainly for surfing, facebook and YouTube as I'm not into downloading films or torrent. Plus I use 2-3 hours only daily, so no point in paying more for fixed line broadband like Unifi or Time.

Kindly recommended. Thanks.

Should I stop/reduce my hypertension medication?

Dear all,

I was diagnosed with hypertension in late March. Since early April, I've been taking 40mg Micardis (considered medium dosage), which is effective, and my blood pressure BP is mostly in the 110-120 systolic/72-80 diastolic range. Around this time I started DASH diet (basically lots of vege and fiber, moderate carbs, low in fat, salt and sugar, small portions of chicken/fish), moderate exercise, try to sleep more and try not to get too stressed at work.

Since May, my blood pressure has been dropping. For the last 10 days, it is mostly in the 90-100/60-66 range. A couple of times, it has even dipped below 90/60 (anything below 90/60 is considered low blood pressure) but I don't feel dizzy or faint.

But I am concerned because I read in CNN website that "It is also recommended that diastolic blood pressures be kept above 65 mmHg, because going below this level can increase the risk of some types of stroke, especially among older people."

My question is: Should I ask my doctor to lower my Micardis dosage by half to 20mg or even stop taking the medication all together? The next appointment with my doctor is 2 weeks away.

Taking Hepatitis B vaccine

Dear all,

My employer is offering free Hepatitis B vaccine on June 14. However, I have a blood test scheduled at a hospital 20 days later as my doctor wants to see the changes in my cholesterol, sugar and various other readings after I went on a diet 3 months ago and lost 10 kg.

What I want to ask is: Will taking the Hepatitis B vaccine affect the results of the blood test in anyway?

I'm worried because I read the following statement somewhere: "You might be asked to wait 28 days before donating blood after getting hepatitis B vaccine. This is because the screening test could mistake vaccine in the bloodstream (which is not infectious) for hepatitis B infection."

Thank you.
