How much does dog surgert/treatment usually cost?

Hi guys,

My in-laws have a dog and it doesn't look very well every time he have a meal. I suspect is that they fed him bones from left over meals most times and had caused indigestions. I'm planning to take it to the vet to have it checked out. But I'm not prepared for a hefty bill to land on my lap. If let say he is really confirmed to have indigestions due to bone clogging up in his intestines, I believe he will have to under go surgery to have those bones removed and also perhaps 1-2 week hospital stay right?

Have anyone gone through similar experience before? How's the surgery and hospital costs like? Need to prepare myself and save up before I take him for a vet visit. I'm prepared for somewhere the range of RM 4,000 but not anything in the range of RM 5,000 and above.

Your advice is much appreciated.

Thank you!

Malaysiakini landmark case (Comments can be sued)

A lot of you probably don't know, but recently Malaysiakini lost a landmark case on comments and now portals must regulate its own comments to avoid being sued.

QUOTE

News portals and other websites in Malaysia now will have to double-check their readers’ comments before uploading them, according to a lawyer.

Senior counsel Malik Imtiaz Sarwar today said that this was due to today’s Federal Court judgment that fined Malaysiakini RM500,000 for contempt of court due to readers’ comments.

Malik, who appeared for Malaysiakini today, said the important takeaway from today’s landmark decision was that portals which host third-party comments now need to be responsible for those comments.

https://www.malaysiakini.com/news/563592?fb...iZBHhwMdQUqAh7k

Becareful of what you write in the future.
Recommendation for Trading Platform?

Hi guys, I have been trading with Maybank2u for the past 5 years and I'm pretty fed up with their services. Their platform are regularly bugged, can only be accessed with IE, and worse of all, it does not reflect all your trading activities. Just last night, they double entered an order I placed for a stock and now are asking me to fork up the money for their mistake. Terrible platform to use and makes u pay for their mistakes. I feel like I lose more money due to their poor service than the actual stock itself.

Anyway, I'm looking for another platform to use. Would like to know any good recommendations if you guys have.

Thanks alot.

Hi all! I'm not sure if this is the right place to post it because I don't think it falls under WTS. But asking for a friend, have a condo project in Rawang. About 80% complete. They're looking for real estate agencies to help them expand their reach to KL buyers (as they have only been targeting Rawang buyers since launch).

They're offering 3%-6% commission upon S&P signing. Leads provided also.

Any recommendations from the many sifus here? Thank you!

Men Basic Apparels Idea

Hey people, was browsing the internet when bored at work and I suddenly stumbled upon this US startup called Basics/Outfitters. So basically, its an online store where men can mix and match their basic apparels (like socks, underwears, t-shirts, and sweat pants/jogging pants) into a package for $60 USD. To the US people, most news article say $60 is a very cheap price for them and most Youtube review also say their quality is very good.

So for someone to rarely goes to shop for basics, this sounds like a good idea for helping people like to me to get affordable and quality apparels la. Like instead of $60 USD, if its in Malaysia, I'd say maybe is RM 129? I'm not sure how good is their quality but from the reviews it seems like Uniqlo good.

But what do you guys think? A good idea? Only work in the US? Not suitable for Malaysians?

https://www.basicoutfitters.com/

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wDP8qQVglGw

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lJBuJKyUCfA

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NAsAjDZ_Uu4

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EqHtpwJxysg

How do you buy Bitcoin or Ether in Malaysia?

Hey everyone? I have been wondering about this for awhile. Been hearing so much stories about people investing in Bitcoins, Ether, Litecoins, and a variety of other currencies. But then when I try to study how the buying process works, majority of available exchanges does not serve Malaysia. Nearest one also in Singapore which requires you to have a SG mailing address.

If its so difficult to purchase in Malaysia then how the heck do so many people invest in Bitcoins?

Company secretary fees!

Hi guys, I had been wanting to post something like this for quite sometime now. Recently, me and my partner decided to start a software development business and we're right now scouting around for a Comsec to help us incorporate. There have been several attractive deals like RM1,200 incorporation fees and free first AGMS and resolution and what not. But as I went to a more familiar Comsec whom I used to work with, I'm surprised to find out that they are charging on average nearly 3,000 for incorporation fees. They told me that nowadays it has become expensive to manage company filings and those cheap deals we found, may contain hidden charges or inflated monthly secretary fees and all that. This our first time incorporating a company so we're a little confused.

I want to know what are your experiences with Comsec, guys? Is the cheap deals really worth it? Or should I choose a more expensive but reliable service?

Looking For Pre-Seed Capital

Hi everyone, recently I have started an AI company with a team of incredible software engineers. Our company works specifically in the field of natural language processors (NLP's). NLP is a sub-domain of AI and to explain it in layman terms, it is a program built with the purpose of helping machines learn and understand language, via texts, visual, or audio the same way humans understands it.

A brief history of our company; we started working on the project in the beginning of July this year. Over the course of July and August, we have been experimenting with various different language processing models and from that we have learn to teach the machine to proficiently identify sentiments of messages (ie. negative or positive). Since the month of September, we began research on schematics. Schematic in the contexts of NLP's is the understanding and study of vocabulary families and its short forms (ie. ok, okay, k, kay, okie, or okie dokie), of which all share the same meaning. We have also started our research on creating a vocab library for the Malay language around the end of September as well.

Our team currently comprises of four members, including myself. The team is comprised of a business development leader, which is me, two other lead software engineers, and an intern. My responsibilities within the company is inclusive of managing the company's finances, corporate compliance, business development, HR, and etc. Our lead software engineers primarily focuses on research and development with our only intern as an assistant.

We have yet to develop a marketable product at this time. However, our development timeline from now to a complete marketable solution is expected to take not more than 9 months. We are already in talks with two companies, whom we will be engaging with for the pilot of our solution in the coming future. We are already in a MOU agreement that we will engage in a vendor/customer relationship should our pilot be successful.

Nevertheless, despite this, our development timeline was far longer than expected. Hence, we foresee that funds we initially pooled will not be able to sustain us for that duration. Thus, we are here, seeking investment for our pre-seed round.

We are looking for an investment of 65,000 MYR in exchange for a 25% equity stake to complete the round. This is negotiable.

For interested parties, you may contact me for further details via pm or my email; kenneth.liu@zanroo.com.

For other inquiries, you many comment here as well. I will try to answer all your questions.

Thanks!

EDIT: To clarify, as an investor, you don't have to come up with all 65,000 MYR by your own. We are open to investors as a group, so as long as you have a lead investor (the investor who comes up with the largest sum, ie. lion share) among your group.

Looking for startup partners (accounting software)

Hey guys! I didn't know you guys could do this. I just only found out when I saw another guy posted something like this like 15 minutes ago.

Anyway, let me first introduce myself; I'm Kenneth, you can call me Ken if you like. Most people had difficulties pronouncing my name. Currently in my early 20's. Working as an auditor in KL and loves to play computer games. I also like to dream and come up with all sorts of funking ideas in my free time.

So anyway, to the point. One day, I'd come up with an idea that I'd like to turn into a business. A new type of accounting software. A new and reorganized model of an accounting software that I believe will change the landscape of which, accounting softwares works in for many years to come. And come to think of it, accounting softwares' are already changing isn't it? Why not play a role in the change as well?

But there are several problems. To turn it into a business, there's three major hurdles I need to work pass.

First, I'm an accountant not a software or a web developer. Although I'm taking some elementary web developing courses right now but I doubt it will ever be sufficient for me to develop a software or a website. An accounting software being a computer technology, I'm afraid there's very little I can do in this field.

Second, customer acquisition. I have to be honest with you, once you come onboard and begin working on the software, you're diving into a sh*thole. We have 0 customers with little to none in customers acquisition. Acquiring customers will have to be done manually. Manually as in on the streets visiting door to door. If you're up for that, you're my new best friend.

Thirdly, funding. Now I know there are several VC's already available and are established here in Malaysia. But how many of them are willing to grant you their money to start an unproven project with little to no indicator to how the idea might work out. For all I know, this could be a million dollar business or it could go down the drain really fast. I willing to come up with the initial seed capital which is not a lot but after that, we're in the dark. A very long and scary dark. If you're up for that, then yeah. Hop on board.

Well, to summarize, I need a tech co-founder, whose willing to go through a lot of bloody hardwork with me and some funding. As for how much, I'm unsure as I'm really in the dark on the tech side.

And I believe that there's several more other problems that we will need to address in order to turn it into a full fledged working business. It's just too much to discuss it here.

I'm probably scaring you away already.

But hey! If you're still here, you're a rebel. I like you.

Lets find a day and time and meet up. I'm eager to share my idea with you.

Thank you for reading through the whole thing. You have been very patient. Not a lot of people can do that. Have a Blessed Christmas and a Happy New Year.

(PS: Please do not ask me for my idea here.)

UPDATE (2/2/2017): Hey everyone! I didn't thought that there will still replies by Dec 2016 lol! This was dated so long ago. Anyways, quick update on what happened during the last year. I did managed to engage a software developer to start this project with me early 2016. We were in conversation about the idea for about 4 months, discussing the early business plans and potential technical issues we will be facing. It all went well until June when we were about to incorporate the company. We have some disagreement on how the company should be set up and who owns what. Basically, he got a little greedy and asked for more at the last minute. All in all, the project failed and it died before it got started.

As of August 2016, I had renewed my efforts to re-initiate the project and managed to get it started again. I'm still looking for great techies thou. Let's discuss more.
