Build 3D CAD Desktop PC

Hi,

I need some advice on 3D Cad Desktop PC, The few PC shop near my area (Seremban) really don't understand the requirement and they just quoting machine that is for Gaming, which I suspect is not the same requirement as 3D CAD.

Unfortunately the budget for this PC is only around RM2-3K, but that means its even more important to make sure the money is well spent and not wasted on the wrong components, so I can get the best performance for the available budget.

We already have 21" monitor from PC system that just died so we just need the new PC without monitor. I plan to buy & install Windows 7 64 Bit. Also I don't see any need/use for DVD drive since these days most software can be loaded from Suppliers Website or USB drive.

In the past we find the old system would grind to a halt when we are doing editing of Assembly Model with Multiple component part files. Our typical assembly has around 50-90 parts, so its not a huge #D assembly by some standards but enough to kill most basic PC.

The 3D CAD software we use is called Alibre and their website make this recommendation:

Software Requirements; If you do not have these they will be installed for you.
•.NET 4.0 or 4.5 Framework
•DirectX 9.0c or later
•Microsoft Windows Installer 3.0
•Internet Explorer 6.0 or later

Recommended Hardware
These are sufficient for the majority of design requirements. If using in an extreme setting, refer to the next section.
•Processor: Multi-core processor - 2GHz or faster per core
•System RAM: 4 GB or more
•Screen Resolution: 1920x1080
•Video Card RAM: 256 MB, or 512 MB if using Vista or Windows 7
•Video Card Framework: Must support DirectX 9.0c or later (Almost all remotely recent cards do.)

Exceptional Setup
For a production environment where complex designs are used daily, a small investment in the following configuration will yield significant time savings.
•Processor: Quad Core - 3GHz or faster per core
•System RAM: 6+ GB
•Screen Resolution: 1920x1080
•Video Card RAM: 512 MB, or 1 GB if using Vista or Windows 7
•Video Card Framework: Must support DirectX 9.0c or later (Almost all remotely recent cards do.)

Thanks in advance for any useful suggestions.
