HELP! Installing Windows XP on my laptop!

Hey everyone,

I just got myself a new laptop. It comes pre-installed with Windows Vista.
I want to reformat the entire HDD using the XP OEM CD, install XP as the primary operating system and keep Vista for later (I have the full recovery CD).

But when I try to run the XP installation CD, it can't detect my HDD, thus not allowing me to reformat and install XP.

Can anyone assist me and provide me suggestions on how to overcome this?
I would prefer just using the XP OEM CD, and no third-party softwares to reformat and stuff, but I'm open to ideas...

Thanks!!!
