IBS landed houses

Hi everyone,

I recently come across a development in which the terraced houses will be built completed using the IBS system in contrast to other developments in the vicinity that are still using bricks.

I was made to understand that it will very similar to condos. Hacking is not allowed, but "limited hacking" near the switches and "certain locations" might b possible.

1. Are all (or most) condos built via the IBS system? Sorry not from engineering/construction background, hence, not too familiar with the terminologies.

2. Is IBS better or inferior to bricks in terms of heat and noise insulation?

3. What are the other factors that need to be considered for choosing terrace house built via the IBS system completely?

Hi, I have lost someone very dear to me recently and find myself struggling to accept the fact that the person is no longer around and nothig will be the same anymore. I know this takes time but it is seriously affecting my daily routine.
Can someone share with me how you cope with such sudden news and what did you do to make yourself feel better?

I always read about properties being auctioned off but can't seem to find clear reference on the process like I know it will happen once you missed the payments for a few months but at which point the owners will be notified? Will the owner of a particular unit be notified that his/her unit will be lelong-ed?

There are some rumours that a unit in my place will be lelong-ed, how do verify it?

People who love to delete messages in Whatsapp

Hi guys, something bothers me.

I come across individuals love to say something in Whatsapp and then quickly delete them - messages in a group chat and also personally - and this trend is on the rise.

Of course, these are usually not-so-nice messages about someone or something.

Probably they are afraid that others may "use it against them" someday so isn't the best way is NOT to say it at all - as you cannot never be sure that no one else in the group has screenshot it.

So the root of the problem is the recepient(s) not trusthworthy or the sender simply have trust issues with the people around him/her - but still love to gossip?

Is this common in workplace? To ensure not a single trail of "evidence" is left behind. Might as well don't gossip or at least gossip to people that you can trust.

Hair loss experience (sensitive issue)

Hi all,

I am referring to those who have experienced or are currently experiencing the hair loss process i.e. you notice that you are hair thinning - how do you feel about it, especially if it is happening while you are in your mid 20s, 30s only?

For those who have major hair loss problem in the same age range, how long did it take to reach an extreme state i.e. like almost no hair on the scalp? does it happen very fast or gradually over many years.

Just want to understand more the psychology of losing hair.

The "colour" of laptop screen

Hi I am writing to enquire about laptop screens.

While browsing, I noticed how the screen of some laptops may look "slightly blueish" while others "slightly yellowish/bright". The salesperson said it all depends on the manufacturer, even for the same model, some may be of "different colours". Is that true?

Another things is that I tried to compare the specification for two different models but both seem to have very similar description e.g. FHD anti-glare, etc. What are the things that I need to look at to compare the screens?

Just to gather some opinions.

It is not recommended to reveal your salary to people around you but at times, e.g. in a serious discussion with closer ones, you may want to give an indication of where it or in the case where people being curious how much some in a certain industry make e.g. a uni student seeking future career path.

Should you refused to reveal the exact amount, do you prefer to let them underestimate or overestimate your salary? For example, if you earn 5k, do you prefer them to guess you earn less than or more than 5k?

Plaster ceiling pros and cons

I would like to gather more opinions about plaster ceiling (with light boxes etc). Of course some designs can really enhance the outlook of the unit, but what about the pros and cons? People mentioned about dusts etc (is it that bad?). People who had plaster ceilings at their home - what's your opinion?

Botak (buzzcut) the new normal?

Dear forumers,

Since MCO has started, barbers cannot operate and "many" resorted to cutting their own hair, well, can't go wrong with that army cut/botak look/buzzcut.

Not sure if this is a mere coincidence but I did notice there surprisingly quite a number of young adults sporting the botak look. Last time rarely see younger guys (20-30s) sporting that haircut. Not sure if that's their haircut from the beginning or this is due to covid19.

Botak is not that popular among the young working adults who may prefer undercut all this while.

My question is will botak gradually become the new normal, since it is easier to manage?

And is botak haircut an acceptable image for those young executives (like in banks, etc)?

High rise surrounded by greenery

Hi forumers,

Can someone name examples of high rise (preferably medium-medium high cost) projects that are surrounded by greenery?

I don't mean projects that are next to forest reserve but rather they grow a lot of trees within the project compound?

You know, like whenever you walk around you will trees, flowers, etc. instead of man-made structures. I have seen some really cool photos but only to realise that those are just for illustration only.

Such places exist?

iphone5 not working

Hi, anyone still using iphone 5?

I encountered a problem. I have been prompted to update my whatsapp but when in app store, there's no option for me to click "update" (only open is available).

Then I realised I can't download anything from App Store.

Tried restarting, reset network etc but nothing seems to work.

The last time I check whatsapp FAQ, anything more recent than ios9 is supported. I am running on ios 10.

Reset would be my last option as I haven't backup my whatsapp.

Anyone faced this problem or might know how to solve this?

Wish to get some advice on what's the reasonable amount one should spend on renovation? The unit is about 1k sqft.

In addition, is plaster ceiling recommended? Some pointed that the dust will be an issue.
