Need help on gaming rig and NAS

hi guys,

i went thru a few recent pages, but couldn't find anything exact.

I'm looking to build a gaming rig for 3k, as i can claim income tax this year. dont need monitor, keyboard, mouse, speakers and OS. but would love to try SSD, never had a chance before. 3k is my budget, but if there's a justification to spend a bit more, then I dont mind. Games I mainly play are FPS and rpg/mmo. I dont OC, and I have another rig for movies. so this is mainly for games.

Also need help on NAS. my other rig has 2 TB of movies/tv series, and I'm out of space. I've always heard about NAS, so maybe give it a try. Would be nice if it could download on its own, without the need for the PC to be switched on. And is there a way to stream movies to multiple tv's in the house through the NAS? I know you can get a china brand media player than can detect the NAS via network. hotswap would be nice to just switch HDD

just wondering if anyone has done this before. instead of getting a sliding metal grill or big glass doors, get a motorized drop down shutter. like those in the retail shops, but not the ugly metal ones. but i've seen some with square holes which look ok.

i guess if they can use for retail, it must be pretty strong?

i'm in japan right now, just walked into takashimaya dept store and saw 60GB PS3 going for rm2k. just wondering whats the price diff with mallaysia for a Japan PS3?

how about warranty? how long from shops in KL? and oh yeah, the warranty given by the shops in KL is just from the local shop? not officialy from sony right? i wonder if sony malaysia will cover warranty if i buy from japan.

and sorry for the noob question, but are the games still region locked like PS2? meaning i cant play US/EU games on the Japan PS3? or its region free now??

i'm looking to buy original counterstrike, itching to play online. however do i need to buy halflife first, or just buy the standalone cs/cs source? sorry, been outta cs for a long time. used to be u need halflife installed, and cs was an add-on.

anyone knows where i can get the ori game packs? thanks.

PCMCIA 3G cards

hi guys,

not sure if it's right to post this here.

I'm using a Dell laptop, that comes with the PC Express slot. problem is that i have a PCMCIA 3G card. so cannot fit.

i've checked online, and they sell adapters which i can plug the PCMCIA card into an adapter, and connect via USB. but its damn EXPENSIVE!!! almost rm1000.

anyone managed to find a way to use PCMCIA cards on laptops with PC Express slots?

help pls, the 3G card is just sitting there and looking at me everyday. i can hear it say, "use me...use me..."
