Motherboard Question

i plan to get a new system (PC) and wanted to get a motherboard that can support two PCIE 2.0 that have a speed of X16. i plan to get an 8800GT first then sometime in the future, when another 8800GT is a lot cheaper, i will then run an SLi setup.

So i browse around, reading a bit of here and there & definitely not enough, so i would like to ask Sifu's for opinions...

X38 = Good system with 2 PCIE 2.0 X16 but i read cannot support Nvidia SLi only Crossfire.
NForce 750i = 2 PCIE but one is X16 and another is only X8.
NForce 680i = 2 PCIE at X16. But not PCIE 2.0 compliant.
NForce 780i = 3 PCIE at X16. All PCIE 2.0 compliant. Currently the best choice.

So what's your opinion...
