Where can I go to reprogram TCU/TCM?

My area where I live theres tonne of speedbumps everywhere like acne on teenager's face. I have to go very slow for a very large ones and I hate that the gearbox decides to shift to 1st, which is not needed at all.

I hate the jerkiness and it only sticks to 1st for about a second or two before having to shift up to 2nd again. I feel that shifting to 1st is not doing anything except robbing useful power and then lurches the car all in a sudden even when trying my best feathering the throttle.

Especially my car, 1st and 2nd are very short, to the point 1st gear is almost redundant. I would like to change its behavior where it shifts down to second only after the speed reduced to 10 km/h, and down to 1st only reaching complete stop. So where and how can I do this?

Which option has higher impact on FC?

225/50 has larger circumference but 235 also adds a little to circumference but also wider so more drag, no?

Why upsize...looking for a bit more sidewall for comfort and also a slightly beefier look

Pirelli Powergy so noisy

just changed all for from yoko fleva v701 at 30% thread remaining. Didn't intend to go for this model at first rather looking at P1 or P7 but both of those models don't come in 215/50/17 size. So i guessed Powergy would still be ok and the promo price kinda sealed the deal.

To my surprise it turned up the noise several notches up during during my recent 500km up north. especially on the concrete paved stretch on PLUS highway. and the steering felt unusually light during slow speed a bit unstable at high speed

Found that the pressure in front passenger side was wrong. at 285 kpa, was way too high so i reduced it to normal level but it didn't change the behavior that much. still very much rumbling from the back. even my wife noticed that it is noisier than normal, which is saying a lot

Why Pirelli u ask? well, the shop near my house had a big Pirelli signboard and they do good alignment. so i gave it a go

Is it possible to get a refund and change to other model? else i'll be stuck with the noise for a couple of years until it wears a way
The yoko is my current ones. they're good tyres but few years old so there must already be new models in the market now that are even better.

on the highest priority rank are; noise, comfort, and rolling resistance. because I'm getting old.

I gotta open my options wide because from experience u the shop u went to don't usually carry the specific one u're looking for and u end up have to take the shop owner's words with whatever brand they recommend.

thanks!

Vibration at legal highway speed [SOLVED]

Im on a mission to find out the real cause for this.most mechanics i went to simply produce their bullshit theories just to sound like they have a solution yet each one of them different.

The issue is when cruising at 100-120 kmh there'll be conatant small vibrations from the engine untill i go past 120 then all become smooth.the corresponding rpm is at 2500-3000 at which felt like really down on power in every gear, every time

Might be related but there's always this vibration that shakes the whole exhaust piping when reversing.

Spark plugs changed, throttle body and maf cleaned, ultrasonic blasted the injectors, full syn oil, new coolant...problem still there.

Car is kia rondo 2.0, similar engine and trans with optima blue taxi

tyres need changing afterall

Continuation of my question in my original thread, https://forum.lowyat.net/topic/4598534/+0#entry89308202

The current XM2 made us home safely during last trip without any issues apart from those hardened rubbers giving out a little too much noise and a harsh ride. just recently i started noticing the tyres making humming or wooing noise at speed of 80km/h and above and changing pitch the faster i go.

i've decided to just change them since they're old anyways. Im putting comfort and low noise level as the first priority as this car is for carrying people and my driving style is calm and consistent so super sticky tyres is not that important.

while im at it,i want to up the wheel size from 16 to 17 as well for looks. understandably, this will also increase the noise so im looking for tyres that are very good at keeping it silent to offset the effects of upping the size and giving more comfort at the same time, and maybe also good for FC.

current size is 205/60/R16. to use 17', my options come down to 215/50/R17 and 205/55/R17 the latter is more preferable but not a very common size i think.

heard good reviews about hankook v12, but availability of the sizes might be an issue. using advan fleva on my other car, so far so good, comfy even at low 215/45 profile and returns good FC as well. how does continental fare? i might opt for this brand since a conti shop is very near to my place. heard toyo is good also but where to find it?

I did some grounding

My diesel toyota hiace is 2 years old and already went through 1 battery and 2 alternators gone kaput in the same year. I rent out the hiace to customers who would benefit from the 11 seater carrying capacity. I've troubled 2 customers already having to face breakdowns due to alternator failure. with new alternator in, still on some days i notice a weak start, the same telltale sign prior to the last time alternator konged.

I bought those cigarette lighter volt meter thing and tested without engine running the reading was 11.8-11.9v, and idling voltage at 13.5v and the most i could get was a brief 13.7 driving it hard around my housing area. Some say this is normal for diesel engine, but i'm not so sure.

at the -ve battery terminal, there's a very2 thick cable about just 15cm which screwed to something looked like a metal bracket welded to the body. This is the ONLY original grounding point and the bracket itself is coated with paint, preventing solid connection to the body. this can't be right, can it?

I got a package of fake HKS grounding cables complete with badly written english on it from brothers. I added 3 additional grounding points, throttle body, back of the engine block, and somewhere near the fuse box. couldn't get to the alternator as the location is deep below and i dont wanna risk being squished under the van without proper jackstand.

After grounding, the volt reads 13.7 idling, and very brief 14v when driving normally. Not much but definitely an improvement. after 3 weeks in the hands of my customer, i haven't got a call yet reporting another breakdown.fingers crossed it stays that way.

I still have 2 leftover cables so i mounted them on my kia rondo, one to the throttle body, and another to the firewall. FC seemed to have improved. A raya trip balik kampung to kedah, jalan2 penang town and back home again with all those horrible traffic jams throughout, the average FC returned was 7.9l/100km. it has never been this low before since i purchased the car.

I think i poisoned myself already. with such good effect, it makes me think whether i could improve it even further. any ideas?

Here's an idea how to reduce traffic jam

Fed up with having to endure horrible traffic everyday? what if i told you that YOU might be part of the problem all along.

I've seen so many times that people are wayyyyy to slow to react at traffic lights. The light turned green, you saw it changed, you did nothing. You wait till the last moment when the car right in front of you starting to move, then only you put down your phone, put into D, release handbrake and lazily put your foot down on the throttle. WHY?

1 or 2 seconds might not seem to be much of a delay on your part to the immediate fella behind you, but imagine a lengthy row of cars behind with the same attitude. It will stretch the heck out of the traffic flow and creates a massive accordion effect. Now a 40 second green light could only move a handful of cars and the backlog will quickly result into a complete halt.

So drivers...ACT FASTER. Put into D and ready to move once you see the a few cars ahead of you started moving. Put the d**n phone down, be alert of your surrounding. Please...

Expert suspension workshop

No, im not looking to upgrade my suspension into racing setup.im just having this annoying suspension noise that most mechanics failed to solved.i've spent about 1k replacing parts but the illusive offender is still unable to be traced.the overly complicated german engineering certainly not helping.

There're two kinds of noises.one is single loud knock on the right side when passing over dips or gaping road ridges or joints, another is rattling somewhere down the steering column when driving thru rough roads but disappear when some steering input is applied towards either direction.

The first noise appeared after a hard hit with a curb which impact did blew a tire. The second one had been there for as long as I can remember.

Checked for loose or worn out arms and ball joints using pry bar,but everything seems pretty tight

Can anyone please point me to a specialist, especially familiar with German built who might be able to solve it once and for all?

my brigestone blown up after a meet up with a sideway curb. since they're old, think i just change all of them. im looking for both quiet and fuel saving tyres, those are the top priorities. maybe wet grip comes third. im eyeing on Pirelli cinturato for RM490 a piece. the label on the wrapping says eco tyres but review found on the net says this tyre has high rolling resistance.

if anyone can confirm which side of the scale this tyre is on i can make decision now since the shop carrying this tyre is near my home. at 490/pc for 215/50R17, what other brands might better fit my criteria?
