Are guys still expected to pay on a date?

Hi guys and girls, I'd like to hear your opinion about dating etiquette these days.

Do you think it's the still the norm for guys to pay for everything on a date? Some people say yes because it's the gentlemen's way but some say women who work should be allowed to pay too or at least go dutch. Some have said that the person who asked the partner out for a date should be prepared to pick up the bill.

So many modern etiquette to dating nowadays, which one do you follow?

Come share your opinion but please keep it civil, this is just for the sake of discussion about dating culture in Malaysia.

Hidden cost of college students

Hi guys, I'm doing research on college students and how much they spend throughout their course.

I'm not talking about just tuition fees but also the extra expenses you have to spend on materials for assignments.

For example a fashion design student might need to spend hundreds of ringgits on fabric and beads for their project, or a culinary student might need to buy their own ingredients if they need to practice for an exam at home.

If you could share your experience and numbers that would be awesome. Please include things like:

Course type (e.g. Mass communication)
Course fees (entire course or just one semester)
Mandatory course materials (e.g. text books, scientific calculators)
List of expenses spent for assignments (e.g. equipment, raw materials, transportation cost etc)

Looking forward to getting a myriad of responses.

Tankyu so much guyz!!!

I've started strength training and always have problems with leg exercises. After doing full sets of squats my calves will start to cramp up really bad.

Can anyone advice me what kind of exercise I can do to strengthen my leg muscles and reduce cramping?

Btw my my pre-workout meal always consist of cereal + milk, bananas and green apples. Looking to add in protein shakes soon when I can afford it.

Thanks y'all!

Letting your teenager use credit cards

Do you guys think it's wise to give your teenager a credit card of his/her own?

Personally I only got my first credit card when I started working. I only got it to make online purchases and was extra careful in making sure I paid off each statement as it came. I'm not sure if I had the same privilege at 18 years if I would have acted so responsibly.

On the other hand my friend told me she got a supplementary credit card when she was 15. But her father made it perfectly clear to her that she could only use it for emergencies and she had to ask for permission if she wanted to buy something.

So to parents with teenagers out there, would you trust these young adults with a credit card?

When relationships turn sour

I once worked for a couple who at first seemed like your typical bf/gf. Been together for 7 years until one fine day found out she was pregnant. Long story short he cheated on her even before the wedding and she raised hell. His business suffered as he continued to fund his mistress and left his shop to his workers and eventually had to close doors.

I'm single and after seeing all these kind of stories think I'll be a lot more happier (and wealthier) if I remain single.

I'm sure there a lot of people out there that have had similar experience when their relationship went to shit and it cost them more than just a broken heart.

How much do ppl spend for raya shopping?

I always see my relatives go crazy during major festivals, buying everything from baju raya to new furniture and even to the extent of doing minor renovations.

I'm not saying there's anything wrong with that. Hey, it's their money and they can do whatever they like with it. I'm just curious how much people actually spend for major holidays like these. I wanted to ask my aunties but feel a bit malu la, scared it's not appropriate to ask such sensitive topics.

Share your shopping tips

Raya is just around the corner and soon the sales will follow. People think it's the best time to shop for baju raya but I'm a bit skeptical if the items really are a marked down price or just a sales gimmick.

For those experienced shoppers here's a space for you to share your secrets. How to spot a bargain and how to maximize your savings using credit cards, vouchers, members discount etc.

Here's to smart shopping without breaking our wallets!

Possible to buy a home...

I'm staying with my mom and would like to move out eventually. I earn less than 3k a month (after EPF deductions) and have my own car (fully paid off) but I'm not confident that I can yet afford to buy a house.

I've discussed this with my friends who are in the same predicament. We're in our mid-20s to early 30s, single and want to move out on our own but finding it difficult with the high cost of living in KL these days.

My question to home owners out there, how old were you when you could afford your first home and do you think it's possible for young working adults to buy property when they're single?

Hi guys, just curious to know how much pocket money do you give your kids?

I know some parents who don't even give allowance and their kids until they reach a certain age. What amount do you think is appropriate and at which age?

How to teach kids about personal finance?

Need some advice and ideas from experienced parents. When is the best age to start teaching your child about the value of money? Kids these days are so easily tempted by gadgets and toys, what is the best approach to make sure they don't become too obsessed with materialistic things?
