System freeze randomly

Recently, my xp pro system seems to freeze randomly. It can goes well for days without a problem then again, it might freeze unexpectedly.

A hard reboot solved the problem, but if using reset button, the SATA drive will disappear.

I have notice a pattern when the HD running, the percentage of freezing is higher. I also occur a situation when the browser accessing site, the whole system suddenly slowdown until to a complete freeze.

Checking eventvwr show no error. Since my rig don't have a FDD, I use Everest to do a memory stress test also shows no problem. 3dMark is running fine. System boot up fine. It just the unexpected freeze gives me a scare.

My rig is as the second one of the signature.

The system is using USB port for powering speaker and a mouse. It has one LAN card plus an onboard LAN. Identical RAM runing dual channel. The whole system purchased with casing + PSU 430W branded E-Mag. PSU having 16A on 12V. Everest shows the voltage is running stable.

Anyone help ?

Trojan causing BSOD?

As of my second rig, recently facing a very strange BSOD which only happens on cold boot which when the pc off for over 6 hours and startup, and it only happen once. Besides, it is not a daily basis, sometimes I can have few days without a single BSOD.

When BSOD happens, the blue screen didn't indicate what error like driver driver problem or IRQ less...those kind of sign but as an unreadable word like foreign langauge translate into something like @#&&$#<---this kind. If I press reset button to make a warm boot, my SATA driver will be disappeared!! except DVD-ROM..BIOS can be entered but also shows SATA is missing. I have to turn off the power and restart again, then everything will be back to normal.

The recently hardware add-on would be only the 512MB RAM making to dual channel 1GB. I did suspect that, since I don't have FDD to run memtest, I use Everest to do a RAM stress test and shows nothing problem. I even play games for 3-4 hours or on the pc for over 6 hours also no problem occurs, it only happens on cold boot, after windows starts normally either browsing or left it idle:stars: Eventvwr also shows no error.

This morning, I suddenly do a virus scan and spot a trojan reside in documents and setting folder known as goldun-IA trojan. Could this one causing the BSOD? Or the RAM slot problem during cold time, or even the generic 430W PSU showing weak(for just 2 month)?

Currently I am using 1 LAN card, 1 80G SATA, 1 DVD-ROM, a speaker using USB port power, and a mouse also using USB port.

Regarding AVR output

I have a Prolink AVR, from the spec, it says power 600VA, output 220Vac.

Now I have 2 rig and plugging both of them to the AVR. Can the AVR handle it? Any side effect such as unstable power supply or insufficiant output

Acbel and Coolermaster PSU

I have to choose between 2 PSU, Acbel I-Power 450W and Coolermaster real power 450W, both are nearly identical but Acbel 12V seems to be more stronger.

However, review from foreign website stated that Coolermaster is an international branded PSU while Acbel is not being heard of. From what I know before that both is branded...or I was wrong that Acbel is not a branded one:stars:

Which one should I choose, follow to my second rig, I plan to upgrade to 8600GT/GTX, AMD X2 3800+, another 1GB RAM, and another SATA drive in future.

Only between two

LAN detected one side but not the other

PC01 : XP pro sp1b
PC02 : XP pro SP2

Just setup internet sharing with Dlink DI604 router, internet is working fine on both pc. Problem arise on the LAN side. PC01 can access to PC02 fully but PC02 can't access to PC01 folder but can detect PC01, it gives an authorized access error.
I have checked that all pc's firewall is off, all folders are given full access. PC01 is a old machine-celeron1.7, when I press detect network, it is a bit slow to response, like 30s-1minute to show all the pcs', in newer PC02-AMD3200+, the detect is instant. Something wrong with the setting in PC01? Did I miss out something?
Even stranger is, the LAN game is working , I just played a session of Dark Crusade LAN with my bro.

To Moderator : please don't move this to network section, I posted there already, seems no one is answering.

Greeting everyone, I just bought a new pc (arrive this weekend) and wish to share both pc without buying another router (broke my bank for the new pc already), currently, I have a Hyundai Hase-220 modem and an old hub.

The current pc network card is point to 169.254.191.3 (don't know why this tcp/ip, after install the hase-220 program, it set itself) to another network as netman pro PPP over ethernet adapter(created after install hase-220)

Is it possible to connect the modem to my old hub, where either of the pc dialup, another can use internet already? I heard about hase-220 able to set as router mode, but I hope not to tinker it as I will buy a real router later.

Thanks in advance

Since this morning, the connection to outside Malaysia seems all screwed up and it is getting worse.

The earthquake causing it? Another cable snap? Can't find any news on TM. Even Yahoo take ages to load up and local news all outdated. Anyone found any info?

BSOD on Medieval II

Anyone playing this game has such problem before?

The BSOD normally happens after few hours of play or reloading the game too many times. I start to wonder whether it is game issue or my hardware issue. I did catch a glimse when restart something about memory stacking error??

All fan is running fine, in fact, I always open my pc case when using. CPU running around 55,GPU 56-58, weather a bit hot today with HD around 42.

I have been checking around forum and no one reporting about BSOD, just crash to desktop after long hour of playing.

Skipping USB Mouse

All along I am using PS/2 type optical mouse and lately the mouse is slow responding (4 years using), so I buy a new optical mouse. Unknowingly, when I bought it home, the mouse cord is so short (around 60cm) that I can't reach the back USB/PS2 socket. So I plug in the front USB port.

Problem start when I use the mouse, the cursor sometimes will skip to the end of the screen. Thinking of mouse pad (too much coloring) problem, I use a blank A4 white paper as a mouse pad, it is better but still skipping occasionaly. During idle or slowly moving the mouse, there will be no problem, but then sometimes during the heat of FPS, tend to swing a bit fast and the mouse will be spinning and look direct to sky or to ground

Is this the USB port responding problem? There seems to have a 20%-10% reserve bandwidth to the USB port, could this the problem. P/S2 type don't have such kind of problem before
