KUALA LUMPUR - In a bid to fortify Malaysia's position in the global artificial intelligence (AI) landscape, the Science, Technology and Innovation Ministry (Mosti) unveiled the AI Sandbox Pilot Programme.

The groundbreaking initiative, a strategic collaboration between the National Technology Innovation Sandbox (NTIS) spearheaded by Mranti and NVIDIA Corporation, aimed to propel Malaysia towards a knowledge-based economy driven by AI innovation and talent cultivation.

Minister Chang Lih Kang emphasised that Mosti was committed to develop the AI talent pool in the country which involved the provision of upskilling and reskilling programmes focused on AI-related skills.

"These programmes are designed to equip the local workforce with the necessary knowledge and expertise to harness the potential of AI in their respective fields.

"We are setting a new benchmark for Malaysia's presence on the global stage," he said.

He also highlighted the programme's ambitious goals of nurturing 900 AI startups by 2026 and fostering over 13,000 new AI talents, projecting a potential 10 per cent economic growth through the creation of new industries and job opportunities.

Aligned with Malaysia's national goal of incubating 100 AI companies to generate RM1 billion in revenue by 2030, the AI Sandbox Pilot Programme signalled a concerted effort to drive innovation and competitiveness in the international arena.

"This collaboration not only promises new economic opportunities but also nurtures entrepreneurship, attracts foreign investment and creates high-value job opportunities in emerging AI-driven industries.

"With NVIDIA's support, the programme will address training and capacity building in AI, ensuring Malaysia's workforce remains competitive and adaptable in the rapidly evolving AI landscape.

"The AI Sandbox Pilot Programme is designed to accelerate AI adoption across Malaysian organisations, bridging the gap between existing practices and global industry norms.

"By encouraging trial projects and proofs of concept, the initiative aims to showcase the tangible benefits and viability of AI technology, fostering collaboration and knowledge sharing among stakeholders," he said.

Mranti chief executive officer Datuk Dr Rais Hussin highlighted the collaboration's holistic approach, encompassing training for startups, innovation ecosystems, professors and educators.

"This comprehensive strategy ensures that Malaysia's top talents are equipped with key AI skills, poised to play a pivotal role in cultivating the nation's AI-ready workforce.

"The AI Sandbox is designed as a catalyst for innovation, propelling our economy forward and positioning Malaysia as a leader in the AI space.

"By encouraging Malaysian organisations to adopt AI technologies, we are not only showcasing the practical advantages and feasibility of such adoption but also highlighting the significant return on investment and long-term benefits that come with it," he said during the launching of the AI Sandbox Pilot Programme, here, today.

Meanwhile, Higher Education Minister Datuk Seri Dr Zambry Abdul Kadir who was also present at the programme's launching said the first AI Faculty in Malaysia has been set up at Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM).

"The faculty will be launched by the Prime Minister on May 10 and the Higher Education Minister is expecting the AI faculty to begin its academic programme in October.

"The AI development and curriculum has been identified to fulfil industrial needs, involving experts in the AI field and in line with the National Artificial Intelligence Roadmap 2021-2025 initiated by Mosti," he said.

Zambry also noted that Higher Education Minister was working towards realising the country’s agenda to grow skilled talents that meet industrial requirements and future-proof graduates.

"With a shared commitment to advancing Malaysia's AI capabilities, the collaboration between Mranti, NVIDIA and government agencies highlight the nation's role as an active proponent of AI-based solutions.

"By harnessing the collective strengths of government, industry and academia, the AI Sandbox Pilot Programme initiative is set to position Malaysia as a formidable force in the global AI revolution, driving innovation and shaping the future of technology," he said.

Item(s) conditions: New but one of the panels is dented out of the box - only noticed it during assembly, couldn't refund assembled items to IKEA. The dent was at the top right corner of the cabinet, to make it less obvious I turned the cabinet upside down so that the dented corner becomes the bottom left - hence the open/close mechanism is at the bottom (supposed to be at the top).

Hi sifu's!

Um recently my MOBO speakers would beep continuous short beeps (like 'Tu tu tu tu tu tu tu tu tu tu tu tu 'cont) and PC would fail to boot. Sometimes when I changed wall or power strip socket it would boot, but after a while the PC would hang entirely (once it hung and beeped a continuous long beep, like 'Tuuuuuuuu............................') and when I pressed the reset button the beeps and failure to boot would happen again.

The continuous short beeps, according to my MOBO manual, means power error.

Does that mean my PSU is dying? Should I change PSU before my MOBO and other components are fried?

When AC on, car shakes badly when idling

I just noticed this symptom this morning. When the car is idling (or when I'm not stepping on the accelerator) with aircond on, the car shakes very badly and the engine feels like it could die anytime. When I turned it off, the engine feels normal again.

I parked my car and put it to P and tried turning the AC off and on several times and observed this:
AC on - car shakes badly.
AC off - car doesn't shake.

My friend told me his car had this symptom before his compressor died in a spectacular show of white smoke.

So could the compressor be the culprit? Please help!

Edit: Oh my car is a 10-year-old 1.5L auto Wira.

Girls, please be careful of mydreamcottage.com, an online boutique because the irresponsible seller will not check your inquiries/orders properly and will blame it on you for her mistake/carelessness because that's how her "system" works.

The theme of my story is:
If THIS is BLUE then I don't know what BLUE is.

Here's my story, it started out like this.

Read from bottom up. Note the "now left blue only" from the seller.

Ok so I placed my order. However the blue one I wanted was out of stock, so I just checked-out with another cheongsam that's orangey-red but named exactly the same (Cheong Sam Flora Design - Small). But before paying, I sent her an email just to be sure she and I were referring to the same blue cheong sam as I doubt she still has the blue one as it's listed out of stock. If she said no she doesn't have it, out of stock, of course I won't be stupid to pay lah.

Imagine the shock when I received this.

So I sms'ed this seller about the mistake.

Car died

Ok... this evening, my car started making some humming noise (sounds like leaf-blower). I could hear it quite clearly in the car, it seemed to come from the back of the car but I couldn't pinpoint where exactly. It is unlikely to have come from the engine because I opened the bonnet and listened for the noise when the engine was running, and it was clear that the noise did not come from the front. I then moved to the back of the car and listened, it seemed louder there as though coming from under the car / somewhere in the rear end of the car, but like I said, I couldn't pinpoint the noise source. All I can say is, it wasn't from the front (engine) but somewhere behind.

Then I drove my car for a few hundred of meters before parking it. I turned off the engine and later found out that I couldn't start the car anymore

After doing some research online, I think it might be due to "problems with fuel delivery system (e.g bad fuel pump, fuel pump relay, clogged fuel screen, etc.)".

Petrol spills out when fueling

Sometimes the nozzle would snap at below RM10 when the tank is only about a quarter full. When this happens I can't pump in more petrol. Sometimes, petrol would even spill out after the nozzle snaps!

Does anyone experience this or know why this happens? Is this something to be worried about?

How to limit bandwidth to each PC?

Ok.. I'm sharing a Streamyx line with my housemates. The thing is one of them has been using BitTorrent a lot these few days and I cannot surf because of the slow connection. (Duh, the bandwidth is all hogged up by this housemate)

So I've confronted this housemate several times (I know she's using BT because I have evidence). For the first few times she said she's only using it at midnight. Now she's using it all day. The last time I confronted her she denied using BT (I had proof but I just didn't show her).

One way is to ban her from using the internet. Another way I thought might work is to divide the BW equally among all of us.

Is there a way to do so? If yes, how effective would it be?

DHCP Manual IP Allocation

I'm now using Dynamic IP allocation for my DHCP server. I want to change it to Manual Allocation where I can assign IPs to selected MAC addresses. So here's a few question.

Do I need to tick this option if I use Manual Allocation?
