Project Development
The High Speed Rail, which aims to be operational by 2022 (Tentative Schedule), serves as an alternative mode of public transport travel between Kuala Lumpur and Singapore. The High Speed Rail is seen to be in line with the transformation of the nation as it links 2 urban agglomerations to meet growing demand, catalyzing economic growth and enhancing long term economic competitiveness while improving the quality of life of its people. Once completed, the high-speed rail is bound to inject more vibrancy to the local economy, driving further growth in other sectors like real estate, commerce, retail and urban transportation. Such railway services in China and Taiwan have brought in the crowd and money to areas around their high-speed rail stations, which gave rise to the so-called “railway economy”. The China Economic Weekly pointed out that high-speed rail systems are the “new leverage” in the transformation of economic development that can lift the development of other sectors to whole new levels.
