Hey, anyone here is studying in UK?

I would like to take biomedical science in UK for my further studies.

I have 2 universities to choose from. One is Newcastle University, another is Nottingham Trent University.

I have communicate with Dr. Chris from Newcastle Uni, below is what he said to me:
“1) As long as you have a cumulative GPA of 3.5 we will give you first year exemption.
2) You can do a placement if you register for our J700 BSc (Hons) Biotechnology with Industrial placement year. if you do not want a years placement you can apply for a lab assitant job in one of our laboratorys throughout your second year (this is a competitive process) or apply for a summer placement in one of our research laboratories.
3) You will be granted a £1500 scholarship for your 1st year.
4) Tuition fees for 2008 are £12 970

… we are one of the top 100 Universities in the World for Biomedicine, we are ranked 9th in the UK for our undergraduate degrees in subjects allied to medicine (this includes Biomedical Science, Biotechnology etc) and we are ranked 7th in the world for the quality of experience for international students (and 1st in the UK Russell group of universities). Thus we can say that we do offer excellence in both teaching and research and you will get an excellent experience here at Newcastle.

Re placements. If you want to a year long placement you must apply for our BSc Biotechnology (with industrial year) J700 (this is for visa purposes). If you want to apply for the laboratory assisstant post of summer placements you can study on any of our cousrses.”

I have seniors studying Biomedical Science in Nottingham Trent University. The problem is, my seniors are supposed to do their placement programme now, but they still haven’t got it.

My agent said Nottingham Trent is near Science City, but Dr. Chris said they ARE in science city and they have their own research laboratories. But I am not sure whether the student there could get their placement programme easily or not in Newcastle Uni.

Thus, I need some help from you guys.. anyone in UK heard anything about these 2 unis? I don’t know which is better.
