Shadow of the Beast is a side-scrolling platform video game produced by Reflections and published by Psygnosis in 1989. The original version was released for the Commodore Amiga, and was later ported to many other systems. Shadow of the Beast is considered revolutionary at the time, because of its graphics, with many more colours on screen and up to twelve levels of parallax scrolling backdrops, were of a level rarely if ever seen before in action games. It was also notable for its atmospheric score composed by David Whittaker that used high-quality instrument samples.

Shadow of the Beast was followed by two sequels, Shadow of the Beast II in 1990 and Shadow of the Beast III in 1992. A remake is in development for the PlayStation 4.

An upcoming 3D computer-animated science fiction action comedy film based on the platforming video game series of the same name. Series creators Insomniac Games helped with the film's production, screenplay, character development, and animation. The film will be directed by Jericca Cleland and Kevin Munroe, and feature an original story written by the original Insomniac Games writer T.J. Fixman. Several cast members from the games will reprise their respective voice roles, and assets from the video games will be utilized in the film. Initially planned for a theatrical release in 2015, it is set for a wide release on April 29, 2016 in the United States.

Ghost in the Shell: The New Movie

Set after the events of Arise, the film involves the assassination of the Prime Minister of Japan which is publicly described as the "greatest event since the war". It is up to Public Security Section 9, led by Major Motoko Kusanagi, to discover the true nature of the murder. They are aided by the Prime Minister's son, Osamu Fujimoto.

A continuation of the Ghost in the Shell: Arise story arc, The Movie is the latest feature film in the series produced by Japanese studio Production I.G., and the first at feature-length since Ghost in the Shell 2: Innocence in 2004. The film is a continuation to the plot of the Pyrophoric Cult episode of Arise, and ties up loose ends from that arc.

One Piece - Pirate Warriors 3

The game was developed for a cross generation release on consoles where it’s being released for the Sony PlayStation platforms and was also made available on PC. It was in December 2014 that One Piece: Pirate Warriors 3 was announced to be releasing in Japan on March 26 of 2015. Later the same month it was announced that the game would be coming to western territories at some point in 2015 with North America scheduled for a Summer release. Release dates were later announced to be at the end of August 2015 for both North America and the EU. Chris Gilbert, the senior vice president of sales and marketing with Bandai Namco Games America, has said "The worldwide popularity of One Piece continues to grow due to the franchise’s fantastic action, storytelling, and character development. Transformers: Devastation is an upcoming action beat 'em up video game based on the Transformers franchise developed by PlatinumGames and published by Activision. It is set to be released on Microsoft Windows, PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, Xbox 360 and Xbox One on October 6, 2015

Transformers: Devastation is an action game in a similar vein to PlatinumGames' other titles. Players will be able to control one of five Autobots: Optimus Prime, Bumblebee, Sideswipe, Wheeljack, and Grimlock as they battle against Decepticon forces in large 3D environments. Gameplay will include fast paced combos as well as the ability to switch between Vehicle and Robot mode.

The game is part of the Transformers: Generations line, though its visual design is most strongly inspired by the original The Transformers TV series. The game's story is written by former Transformers comic writer/editor Andy Schmidt, and several voice actors from the original show, including Peter Cullen (Optimus Prime), Dan Gilvezan (Bumblebee), Michael Bell (Sideswipe, Scrapper), Gregg Berger (Grimlock, Long Haul) and Frank Welker (Megatron, Soundwave), reprise their respective voice roles. Vince DiCola, the composer of The Transformers: The Movie and Angry Birds Transformers, wrote original music for the game alongside Kenny Meriedeth.

Character skins based on Nemesis Prime, Red Alert, and Goldfire, along with three additional weapons, were offered as pre-order incentives

The Witness

The Witness is an upcoming 3D puzzle video game by Jonathan Blow and his development team, Thekla, Inc. The Witness is set for release on January 26, 2016 for PlayStation 4, Microsoft Windows, and iOS.

Inspired by Myst, The Witness has the player explore an open world island filled with a number of natural and man-made structures. The player progresses by solving puzzles which are based on interactions with mazes presented on panels around the island, though the rules and outcomes of solving the individual mazes are part of the puzzles that the player will have to come to learn themselves through both visual clues around the island and through audio logs that the player can find. Blow aimed to include as little instruction as possible, wanting to have players come to understand the rules of these puzzles for themselves and coming to moments of realization while exploring the island. The final game will have about 650 total puzzles to be solved, though the player is not required to solve them all to finish the game.

Though originally announced in 2009, The Witness has had a lengthy development period. Blow started work on the title in 2008 after a short break from releasing Braid. The financial success of Braid allowed him to hire a larger team to develop the title and maintain his vision of what the final game would be without making any sacrifices. This led to a protracted development period, extending the game's release from 2011 to 2016, spanning a console generation. Original plans for release on the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 were abandoned because the game's engine became too demanding, and Blow opted to develop the console version for the PlayStation 4 as Sony was more open towards independent developers.

Ghost In The Shell: First Assault

The Nexon published PC game Ghost in the Shell: First Assault, previously known as Ghost in the Shell Online, is gearing up for its release next year. Not only with a new gameplay trailer but also a closed beta.

Based on the Stand Alone Complex branch of the series, the game is being developed by Neople.

A somewhat standard first-person shooter, the game also leverages much of Ghost in the Shell’s cyberpunk heritage.

This means you can use things like thermoptic camouflage, which renders its wearer invisible, as well as inbuilt cyborg based weaponry such as blades and rocket launchers.

This will be a freemium game but it’s looking good and as such I am actually excited for it.

Bar the original Ghost in the Shell PlayStation game, that was based on the original manga and had you pilot a Fuchikoma, the series hasn’t had many decent games in its history.

Dragon Quest Builders: Alefgard o Fukkatsu Seyo

It just looks so good. In comparison to Minecraft's chunky (and iconic styling), to see such a similar game with so much big-game-studio lipstick makes it feel like a very different title. If you've played a Dragon Quest game before, you'll see familiar enemies and tropes. There are plenty of slimes to batter with a choice of weapons, and all the items carry the same names as in the iconic RPG series.

And that's great. What's not so great is how shallow it feels. There's no first-person mode to admire creations (although the PS4 is at least capable of sharing creations easily enough), and while Minecraft typically felt limitless, in DQ:B, you can only dig down four layers before that typical video game barrier of invisibility stops your pickaxe. That said, maybe you want more direction in a Minecraft-style game. If so, then DQ:B could be a fit. In the trailer, you can see what looks like an appropriate protagonist, an aim (shady kingdom on the horizon) and a whole world to explore -- if only just past the surface.

Dragon Quest Builders launches on PS4, PS3 and Vita in January 2015, but only in Japan. Square Enix hasn't yet announced any plans for a wider release.

My Summer Lesson

Summer Lesson, Bandai Namco's schoolgirl-tutoring game for the newly renamed PlayStation VR, received a new trailer at Tokyo Game Show today.

Produced by the team behind Tekken, Summer Lesson puts you in the first-person perspective of "senpai." You're tasked with helping two different high school girls — one Japanese, one English-speaking — practice their Japanese. The game has you shaking your head "yes" or "no" to the girls' questions, then lets you watch them read from their Japanese textbooks.

Summer Lesson first debuted around this time last year, at Sony's pre-Tokyo Game Show conference. A trailer for the "communication"-focused game shown then emphasized the use of what was then known as the PlayStation Morpheus' headset technology as you interacted with the teen girl's bedroom environment.

The new look at the title is less interested in the tech, instead directing your attention toward girls. The game is again playable at this year's event, but feel free to check out the new trailer above if you share Bandai Namco's priorities but can't make it to the show floor.
