Low Quality SPC vinyl installation

Hi guys,

I need your suggestions.

June 2019:
- Installed 4mm SPC vinyl flooring.
- Then I complained that there are too many air pocket in the floor. They suggested me to put a layer of self leveling cement.
- Actually I had asked them about my wavy floor, they told me no problem because they will put a layer of foam below the vinyl flooring and never mention about self leveling cement.
- Although it is their fault for not suggesting me the self leveling cement, I had to pay extra for floor disassembling + self leveling cement + re-installation.
- So I paid the extra, and they proceeded with the work.

Nov 2019:
- My floor starts to have bumps in some areas
- I complained, but never really follow up closely because I'm not in a rush (I haven't moved into the house yet)

June 2020:
- They finally came to fix the bumps. (More new bumps appeared since last time)
- Turned out, the self leveling cement actually cracked and detached from the original floor.
- What they did was remove the crack cement, and cover with stopping compound (a sort of a white cement).

Nov 2020:
- Bumps started to reappear. I suspect that the self leveling cement or the stopping compound start to crack again.

I will be moving into the house soon.
Now I don't trust the self leveling cement layer anymore because it will crack again anytime. I am planning to replace them with tiles, and then install the vinyl flooring on top of the tiles.
I asked the installer to help disassemble and reinstall the floor. He doesn't have to repair his self leveling cement anymore. I will bear the cost to install the tiles.

But he actually asks me to pay for the disassembly and re-installation. Is this reasonable when it is his own fault? I don't even ask him to repair anymore. I have wasted my money on the useless self leveling cement (and the floor re-installation cost). I try to discuss with him, but he is not responding to me anymore.

Could anyone suggest me on how to proceed please?

3 Star Euro Cylinder Mortise Lock (anti snap)

Hey guys,

The standard euro cylinder that we have in the market today is vulnerable to lock snapping. Burglar can snap the cylinder and gain access to our house very easily.

I looked around for anti snap 3 star euro cylinder but couldn't find anything.

Any of you might know where to find them?

Hey peeps,

I'm currently building my house and looking for above average quality window.
The typical aluminium window is always problematic; cannot close properly after some time.
I'm keen with uPVC window because it is very popular in europe, but I'm not sure how will it perform in Malaysia.

Anyone with uPVC window experience?
I saw Evista company selling uPVC. Are they good?

Test Engineer to Design (or R&D) Engineer

Hi,

I'm just wondering if it is possible to switch from a test engineer to a design engineer since the jobscope is different.
I'm a fresh grad interested in doing designs (embedded system), but currently there are not much job opening for design engineer (for freshies).
Some told me that I need to get experience by becoming a test engineer first before switching to design engineer. is this true?
Has any of you experienced this kind of job switch or known any other that has?

Hi,
I just graduated with a Master's degree in Electronic and Computer engineering.
I know that it is not a very good idea to state your expected salary in your resume.
But what if you are asked about it during an interview?
I really have no idea about the starting salary in Electronic Engineering field (embedded system to be exact).
Can someone give me some rough figures?

Hey guys,
I wonder what university course teaches in-depth linux? Im an electronic and computer engineering students, but we don't learn much linux. only some basic components of linux such as file system, mmu, high level driver, how to compile embedded linux, bootloader etc.. what I meant by in-depth is like the IO system, shared memory and semaphore, the structure of linux device and etc. Basically linux from A to Z, so that students can build htheir own custom linux system for a completely new computer architecture (not yet supported)

I'm currently looking for an internship in electronic or computer engineering. The thing is, i only know jobstreet but i can't find enough companies offering internship on it.
What make matters worse is that i'm currently studying abroad and i don't know anybody in working in electronic engineering in Malaysia.
I'm kinda stuck here and wondering how could i extend my network in this field.

Pulled muscle chest

i wonder how does it feel to have a pulled muscle chest..
Sometimes i feel a little pain at my sternum or middle chest (tendon between sternum and pecs) when i do a certain type of movement..
but it doesnt hurt when if i do pushup.. am i having this injury?

currently i have an i7 870 rig and am planning to use for another 3 years (until i finish my studies)..

Do you think my proc will suffice for gaming for another 3 years given that i'll upgrade my graphic card through the years?

actually im kinda regretted for jumping to lga1156 plateform.. after one year, then new socket came out.. i think nobody would buy my proc now..
