I never had any girlfriend. Is it my fault?

ew:) — Mon, 26 Jun 2017 01:39:15 +0800

Hello,

This is a really long post and I hope you can read it until the end. But, if you don't want to, you can start from "My Story Starts Here"

My Story Starts Here
Let me put you in the picture
I just became a 21 y.o. guy. 3 siblings, all boys and I am the eldest. I studied in 2 controlled all-boys school for 11 years in a row. So, my bestfriends and my friends are all guys. Unfortunately, my beloved Mummy passed away when I was 11. I have been living with my dad, my grandfather and my 2 other younger brothers. As you can see, I don't really have the convenience or chance to neither mix with girls nor even talk to girls. Then, my grandmother often advises me NOT to find a girlfriend until I am financially independent. On top of that, my elders in the family are quite laid-back and conservative which means I find it insecure to openly talk with them regarding this topic.

My Real & Honest Self
First of all, I used to be an extremely insecure person. I used to think about a lot of things in my head before doing things that I am afraid it will embarrass myself. It is obvious that I have low self-esteem. Yes, I even realized that I have an amount of pride/ego (and I still have a little of it). In fact, this is my first time after 21 years in my life that I am writing about something that I have never genuinely open up with anybody. I know it is a disadvantage and I am still working on it.

My Character/Personality
I am a Malaysian Chinese (who speaks basic Chinese) and consider myself a good looking guy whose interest is in self-development. I always keep myself entertain with my hobbies. For example, I do play chess, inline skate, swim, jog and occasionally involves myself with outdoor events such as volunteering. I even funded myself in music classes to learn playing a piano through my part time wages. Basically, I do stuff I enjoy the most and love to explore new things. Most of the time, alone. I can say I am 60% introverted.
HOWEVER, I don't find any good reasons for me to start a relationship by getting a girlfriend except for sexual pleasures. I can be a pervert, but I also have my values.

*I must admit that I masturbate almost everyday. It is like an addiction to PMO. I am trying hard to reduce/recover from this ill habit. Or, is it due to a problem for I don't have a girlfriend?

Back in 2014
I was doing my foundation studies in KL. There was a 3-months student exchange programme from Korea. And, I had a crush on one of the Korean girls. My friends did not think she was really THAT pretty, one even asked me "why settle for less when you can have more?" But, somehow I have this cupid feeling for her personality. Intelligent, pretty and cute are my type. Then, I started doing my research on how to approach her to be my girlfriend.

*It will be too long for a story on how I chased her. Long-story short, she did not reply to me after we chatted for over a year.

P/S: I am still under a HUGE dilemma because I don't know if I should really get a girlfriend now as a puppy love or actually follow my grandma's advice to wait until I am financially independent before getting into a serious relationship. I am just not sure what is the right thing to do. I have no directions and really lost in terms of this matter. Please guide me by giving your comments or advices or experiences on whether I should start putting in efforts on finding a girlfriend? If not, then when?

FYI, I spent 4 hours on creating this thread thoroughly. And, I will appreciate any of your comments, advices, experiences or even scolding me for letting me know if these were entirely/partly/none of my fault. Thank you for reading this far! Kamsahamnida

[Follow-Up]

After receiving warm or harsh, but valuable feedbacks and genuine advices throughout this thread, majority messages opened up my eyes through the solutions that I never thought of and from a different side of view. A realization hit stated that I must work on myself, then I will be worth for my future partner. I am going to focus on my goals and lead the life I desire, thus continue to seek for motivations and will be humble enough to acknowledge it. Furthermore, I am also thankful for various examples based on your personal experiences. From now onwards, I know that I won't be able to experience it at the moment, but you guys gave me assurances that one day I will have my chance. I am relieved from all your point of views and I have obtained my answer. Thank you.
