Rude to cancel job offer that I have accepted?

Auvex — Wed, 06 Jul 2011 22:03:17 +0800

Would it be rude to cancel a job offer that I have already accepted?

My situation here is that previously, I have done my internship with one of the big 4's for 3 months. I just graduated 1 month ago, applied and accepted a job offer given by one of the big4.

However now, I've decided I want to continue studying.

Assuming I do tell them that I want to continue studying, what are the chances that the company would hire me the next time i decide to apply again after my studies?

Thank you.

Auvex — Mon, 03 Nov 2008 17:03:53 +0800

I have been a subscriber for the past 6.5 years on Streamyx and up till now, im still using a 512kbps RM66 package. Recently i heard of a free 1MB upgrade package that is being upgraded for free for long term subscribers. Am i eligible for this upgrade? Another question is, assuming i want to upgrade my connection to 1mb, can i do it just by calling them up, or must i go to Tm point to do it.

Resident Evil RPG

Auvex — Tue, 19 Sep 2006 20:26:31 +0800

Hello people. My friends and I have just recently started on a RPG forum game about Resident Evil. If anyone is interested in joining, the website is http://residentevil9.proboards26.com/index.cgi It currently has 750+ members.

Here is the current storyline:
In 1998, the international pharmaceutical company, Umbrella Corp., was forced to go underground due to a worldwide economic boycott.

The worst biological disaster in human history, Raccoon City, was targeted for destruction by the US military. This military action failed. Fearing a nuclear strike would cause massive environmental damage, the military opted to use a series of CBU multi-cluster bombs to start a controlled fire within the city, which would then burn the rest of the area - and the T-Virus - with it. Moments after the bombs fell, a massive rain fell upon the dying city, as if nature commanded the world to let Raccoon City live. Search and Rescue operations still continue as the city goes through its death throes. While the United States Government tries to barricade Raccoon City, the world succumbs to Umbrella's horrible Virus...

The United States capital, Washington, D.C., was infected one month after Raccoon City was sealed. It is believed the virus was released by accident during an FBI raid on an influential Umbrella spokesman's apartment. The city has been evacuated, and is patrolled by the US army. Much of the area has been barricaded and/or overrun by the undead. The current government now resides in Philadelphia.

Three months after Washington was quarantined, the governments of the United Kingdom and France recalled their citizens and ambassadors from the country. While en route, many of the passengers reported skin rashes and fevers. When they arrived, the governments tried to quarantine them. Unfortunately, driven mad by the virus, many forced their way off the planes and escaped into the local populace. Britain has declared quarantine for London, with small outbreaks being reported by citizens and police. The city has not been evacuated or closed down.

Paris fared worse. One of the planes returning to France lost communication in mid-flight. A large party was thrown at the airport for the return of the 200+ citizens. When one of the planes landed, the pilot tried to signal ground crews to stay away from the aircraft. Curious, the crews opened the planes to find all of the passengers had been zombified. They escaped the airport and contaminated the city.

As White Umbrella evacuated the city, many of their 'projects' were released into the doomed city, as an act of revenge against the world. After six months of trying to save the city, the French government ordered it destroyed via a nuclear device. Paris has been decimated.

In Russia, one month prior to the nuclear destruction of Paris, many people in the Moscow area had been complaining of fevers and the same rashes which plagued the passengers of the now infamous 'return home' flights. It is unknown how the virus was spilled in the former communist country. The Russian government has evacuated most of the city and has encircled the area with five brigades of troops and armored vehicles.

One month after the destruction of Paris and the evacuation of Moscow, reports of an outbreak were leaked from Israel and Tokyo. Tokyo claims that they have isolated most of the outbreak and the city remains open to the public (although mass transportation has been suspended). Israel has taken it harder. The country is under a full quarantine.

Through the quick action of the United Nations and the Center for Disease Control, all transportation was suspended between these nations for one month. During this month (August of 2000), blockades were set up and military alliances such as NATO sent military aide into the infected countries. For three years, the T-Virus epidemic was stalled and contained.

Under the international eyes and ears of the press and governments, Umbrella was biding its time. While its public view had been destroyed, many of the laboratories remained open, and most of White Umbrella remained unchanged. During the years of outbreak, Umbrella was harassed by 'The Organization', a rival company which little is known of. A small war was fought between the two companies until 2004, when the Las Plagas parasite was found.

Leon Kennedy was sent by the US government to Spain in 2004 to rescue the president daughter. Unknown to him, the large village had become a private battle field as secret agents (Ada Wong and Albert Wesker among them) fought for a sample of the Las Plagas virus. Both The Organization and Umbrella managed to get a sample. What experiments they are conducting with the parasite is unknown.

A year after the incident in southern Spain (2005), The Organization conducted a raid on an Umbrella laboratory in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. The result was disastrous.

Rio became a necropolis overnight. Because of the 'Carnival' - an annual fair in Rio - the entire city became infected after a few infected persons drifted into the crowd of custom clad dancers and drunks. The main roads were infected, and the infection spread from the roads out toward the city limits. Many people were trapped in their homes during the zombie attack; however, survivors in the city limits managed to flee into the nearby rain forest.

The infection moved north, with sporadic outbreaks reported in Columbia and Argentina. These outbreaks were contained. The T-Virus continued north through Panama and eventually reached Mexico City. Containment measures in Mexico are having trouble containing the virus, but the city has not been overrun... yet.

Las Vegas reported an outbreak two months after Mexico City was infected. The city has beefed up security, but remains open to travelers and tourists. There have only been two cases of infection in Vegas.

Two week after this, Berlin and New Delhi reported cases of the virus. Berlin, using quick response teams and a nationwide quarantine, has managed to keep the infection from spreading beyond the city center. New Delhi, with its massive population, has become a war zone. An evacuation is in progress.

It is now the year 2006. Umbrella is waging a private war with The Organization. NATO, UN, and CDC military forces try to contain the outbreak and save trapped survivors. Small wars are being waged among governments for samples of the virus, and a new threat looms on the horizon...
