HRV 2017 tyre recommendations

i'm using hrv stock tyres , 215/55/r17 stock bluearth 370 , planning to replace these.

but 17 inch tyres is kinda new knowledge to me, other old cars are 15 inch.

i find the bluearth e70 grip to be quite good , but doesn't seem to be sold in shops.

any recommendation or look for this same bluearth again?

preferring acceptable noise control , and above average dry/wet grip, at something midrange price.

seems like nvidia is removing the max-p and max-q namings, so only one name (like rtx 3060) with variable wattage, and OEM also decides whether to include features such as dynamic boost 2.0, advanced optimus, whispermode 2.0 or not.

good thing is according to jarrod's tech, nvidia will show the TGP and supported features in the driver control panel, pretty neat feature if one likes to go to shop to physically check the laptop before buying.

but if one buys online, then will need to check the listed specs (if the info are listed) and check reviews (maybe inaccurate too since some laptops have regional differences).

available wattages:
3060 : 60 - 115w
3070 : 80 - 125w
3080 : 80 - 150w+

seeing this, one may buy a 3060 laptop and it may outperform a 3070 laptop, if not careful.

Hopefully OEM will list their gpu full spec and features.

hdd spinning vibration but no activity causes

my laptop's hgst hdd is about 2 years old plus, secondary storage drive, started spinning maximum speed most of the time, causing the vibration to spread throughout chassis, but not writing huge file into the hdd. it will spin down once in a while , but most of the time, its spinning at max + vibration.

checked using crytaldiskinfo - still blue, but temp can reach 50c , hwinfo - smart section all green ticks , windows error checking - no errors , no defrag scheduled/running.

any other possible causes?

stumbled upon a MSI article about intel chips power draw and would like to share, though it is a few months old.

obviously it is an advertising/bragging article about msi laptop cooling prowness, nevermind that, but one table caught my interest :

the estimated boost tdp ( according to msi anyway ), for the chips to perform at maximum, when it is not limited by power and thermal.

it is an eye opener for me, especially the 8950hk, need as much power and heat produced, as a high end gpu , these laptops really need great cooling systems and big power bricks for best performance.

Just an info i just saw on notebookcheck, apparently there are 2 versions of MX150, the normal version and the slower one for ultrabooks. For those that are looking for laptop with MX150, might wanna take note of this.

migrate os from hdd to ssd problem

hello, i bought a m.2 sata ssd for my laptop for os migration. My laptop is originally preloaded with windows 10 on hdd. I have used a few cloning programs, amoei backupper, minitool partition wizard, macrium reflect, easeus todo backup.

For cloning, i cloned the recovery , efi, reserved, c: partitions over to ssd.

After that , i tried booting of ssd and it gives me error in boot\bcd,
-tried startup repair but failed
-tried bootrec /fixboot , access denied
-tried reformat efi partition, remake efi partition and boot folder, then re-run /fixboot , access denied too

Any other suggestions to the problem? or other viable os migration method?

cooling system and temperature

i'm currently looking at some of the gaming laptops around, noticed there are usually 2 type of dual fan cooling system:

1) combined cooling - same heatpipes and 2 fans cooling both cpu and gpu like predator helios, y520

2) (almost) individual cooling - cpu and gpu each cooled by 1 fan and heatpipes

is there a significant difference in temperatures of cpu/gpu ?

help to identify possible problem(s)

hello guys, i think there is something wrong with my car, will try my best to describe it.

After i turn the steering more than a quarter at a corner, the steering won't return back to central position by itself, i have to manually turn it to center. If i don't do anything, the steering will literally stay in the "turned" position.

Which part might be the problem? Thanks.

laptop fan replacement

i have an old, but still very much functioning asus f8vr laptop. Today, noticed that the fan suddenly stop for about 1 min before spinning again. I fear that the fan might be dead soon, is there any shop that sell laptop spare part such as fan?

if you are given a choice to choose reflector or projector headlights for your car , regardless of light source (halogen, hid, led) , which one will you choose?

i read an old interesting discussion at hidplanet forum regarding this topic

it seems both types of headlight are similar in light distribution( throw, width...etc) if properly designed, but reflector is more efficient in using available light flux than projector. Projector is newer design, can be marketed as a more premium option.

i noticed this log in my modem and saw many "messages suppressed". I searched on net and dlink modem manual, but no avail.

streamyx modem wifi problem

i'm using dlink dsl-2640b from TM , on firmware sea_1.01 .

the modem wifi has frequent disconnection problem , in that all wireless devices " can see, but can't connect" , the modem's wifi led light is static (not blinking). Sometimes, it resolved by itself after few minutes, sometimes, need to reboot modem.

LAN remained normal , accessing internet through LAN is normal too.

Any help on the cause of this?

volatile snr margin

my streamyx snr margin varies greatly throughout the day, ranging from 8-22 , and it happen on the download's snr, but upload snr is quite static, around 21

the laptop's bluetooth was functioning well. But recently, the bluetooth icon is gone, there is no bluetooth device in the device manager; i tried to "change pc settings"---> "wireless" , the bluetooth option is greyed out. Since this is a wlan+BT combo, i tried to uninstall the wireless driver and reinstall the combo driver from acer website, but still only the wireless driver Atheros ar5bwb222 is visible and functioning.

could this be a hardware problem?
