Fed up with Malaysian companies + research

it's a typical scenario in Malaysia when it comes to collaborating/co-operating when it comes to research.

as you know, as a university student, doesn't matter whether undergrad or post-grad, writing a dissertation or thesis is a part of the requirement. if you don't complete your dissertation/thesis, you automatically fail.

but most of the time, writing a dissertation/thesis is not simple as you need to conduct case study, interviews or questionnaire. this is where you need to venture out and conduct your research with the relevant companies pertaining to your topic. however, the problem occurs when companies do not want to co-operate or take part in your research even though you've gone through the proper channel of obtaining permission. how many times have you sent out questionnaires to over 500 companies, but returned are only a handful? how many interviews have been rejected?

Malaysian companies are shall i say, shallow when it comes to education and research. truth be told, even our own Govt is not helping boost the education and research scene. it cannot be denied that research leads to improvement. but Malaysian companies do not see it. all they see is profit and business deals. is it too much to ask for just an hour of their time for an interview? is it too much to ask for 15 minutes of their time to complete the survey? it's people/organisation like these that further deteriorate the education research scene.

Seeing dermatologist for hair loss

I am having severe hair loss since a few months ago. i've always have hair loss but not as serious as few months ago. i suspect it's because of the hair treatment eg rebonding, relaxer which i've done since uni days.

I'm planning to see a dermatologist. it's my first time seeing a derm. is there a specific derm for hair loss or any derms will do?

How much will the visit roughly costs cause i don't wanna get a shock when they give me the bill. plus i have to bring cash cause i don't own a card.

Apple store delivery

i want to buy the macbook from their online store. the thing is i can't use my home address (i'm working, no one at home) or my office address (HR don't allow, item will send back to sender) so i want to use my friend's office address.

i heard apple send using DHL. will the description of my item appear on my package? will people know it's an apple product? i scared later the receptionist at my friend's office or someone there will steal my item.

p/s i'm buying from the online store because i want to use my student discount

Career as Project Manager?

let's say i have a master in Project management, recently graduated. what is the job outlook for PM? would a company take a fresh grad with no job experience as a PM even though i have a master? i see a lot of vacancies for PM but all want those with experience one typically around 5 years. what say you?

I see plenty of Uni offering Master in Facilities Management. I'm just curious to know what it is about, the scope of work, what are the fields for Facilities Manager? What is the current job prospect as a FM? The salary range?

Right now I'm torn between Master in FM or Project Management. I'm already familiar with PM but not so clear about FM.

anyone heard of this thing? my dad ask me to buy for him. he described this thing like something you plug into the socket and can reduce energy consumption, something like that. i have no idea what it is. anyone help please if you know how it looks like and where to buy? whether this thing is legal or illegal?

Family Problem

I’m in a dilemma right now.

I’ve been working in KL for 2 years. The only one in my family who’s working here. My parents are still in my hometown. They’re old plus my mom is not well. It’s just the two of them living in that house. My siblings are all married and living in different towns.

I’ve always been free-spirited and independent. Been in KL since my uni days. Two reasons why I chose to work here:

1. It’s difficult to find a job in my field since my hometown is small and not very developed. Yes there are a couple big companies but you need to have connection to get in, if you know what I mean.
2. Obviously the pay here is bigger.

I’ve been thinking of going home for good and be a responsible daughter and take care of my parents since I’m the only one not married and don’t have commitments. But I just can’t bring myself to make that move. On one hand, I pity my parents. On the other I want what’s best for my career and dreams.

Am I selfish? If you were in my shoes what would you do?

Has anyone ever backpack around Australia? I'm thinking of doing that since can't afford to backpack around Europe yet. Questions:

1. Roughly how much $$$ do I need?
2. How many weeks/months is ideal?
3. Backpacking Europe or Australia, which one cheaper?

I'm planning to see all the famous places and enjoy the wilderness.

P/s: i've never backpack anywhere before. My travels usually in Asia, for max 4 days 3 nights.

hi all.

my friend will be giving birth few weeks from now. the problem is i have not bought any gifts for her or the baby since i am out of ideas as to what to give. my budget is around rm200.

i don't want to give the obvious/usual stuff like baby bottles, baby clothes etc as i know a lot of people will give that to her.

i think i want my gift to be mommy-oriented. i thought about giving coupons for spa treatment that kind of things but she's not very outdoorsy. she's more of a at-home person.

i'd appreciate it if you could suggest some gifts. if any of you are a mom, just given birth, are there anything that you'd really want but didn't receive from your friends/family?

Dear all,

I need advise on terminating my Prudential

Type of assurance: PRUcash Assurance with profits
paymnet term: 30 years

I had this Prudential since June 2013. every month i pay rm200 and now i decide don't want to continue anymore. i rather invest my money some where else.

some ppl say call agent and ask them to terminate. some say just don't pay anymore.

the thing is my agent cannot be reached. if i terminate, do i get anything? rm50 pun jadi la. if in case i don't get anything, i think better if i just stop paying and let it terminate itself right?

i wanna ask if anyone bought custom made shoes (heels, flats) before and what is the price range? i have flipper-like feet and it's REALLY DIFFICULT to find comfortable shoes that don't squashed my feet or grazed my skin . so far i know a few but they only make men's shoes.

WD ext hd problem

sorry if this has been posted before.

i have a 500gb WD external hard drive. before this everything is fine but today suddenly i plugged into my computer and it HANG. so i shut down my computer, unplugged the hd. restart and connect the hd. but i cannot open any document. everytime i open a folder, it HANG. my computer still can detect the hd but cannot open. tried to connect to another computer, can see the folders but all empty! i tried RECUVA but my hd keeps disconeccting. every 5 minutes the autoplay comes out. it keeps connecting and disconnecting. so i cannot do RECUVA. anyone can help please??
