I've been offered a job but..

Situation : I've been already offered a job in Company A and I've verbally agreed to take it. However, another interview from Company B that I applied earlier on just came. I'm wondering whether or not to go for the interview and see if their offer is better than A's offer? If I'm offered the job in A after the interview, and I politely decline to accept, just wondering if my prospects/chances of ever being employed there in the future go down??

On a side note, is it possible/normal for employers back out on their offer, even AFTER presenting the offer letter to a person?

What's the prospects of procurement job?

Anybody currently in the procurement/purchasing line kindly please enlighten me on the prospects of this job? Although I've read about what the job is about on the internet, it would be great to hear from people who has first-hand experience in this area. I would also like to know what qualities/skills would the be needed or whether this job is suitable for what kind of people?

Hi all,

So I’ve gotten a job offer from a chinaman company. I am not sure whether to accept it or not. It’s an entry-level job as I’m a fresh graduate, pay is normal, the only thing putting me in a dilemma is every Saturday (and public holidays) have to work, full day (no joke). I don’t think I’m mentally prepared to do that but if I want I can la. I think alternate Saturdays also can say, considerable lah, at least I have at least I can have one or two Saturday's off.

According to my boss who interviewed me, she said that after my probation period, I am guaranteed (yes, she used that word –guaranteed) X% increment. How sure can I be that she will give me that much of an increment? Will it be written in the offer letter? And she also said got OT until 7 or 8pm..may be later depending on the amount of work.
I was thinking of going in and try first before betting that it's too much for me to handle.

Actually, I see this job as a stepping stone for me to higher grounds/killing time while waiting for better job. Would it be wise of me to go in with such intentions? I don't know if anyone understands the position I'm in but I don't like to be sitting around waiting and hoping for better jobs to come. Of course, I can reject this offer and wait for a better offer to come...but who knows, it might not come and I'll be sitting around for another month or so. (Oh btw my area here does not have as many job opportunities as KL, so don’t tell me offers are all around and abound haha if I were to decide to work in KL it’d be a good offer with good career development)

Anyhows, some opinions or insight would be great as I'm still in the process of deciding. If I do accept, I'm not really sure how the whole offer letter procedure works, so can anyone advice on this matter? I know offer letter should come before I start work but if they "can't prepare it on time" or for some reasons they purposely give me the offer letter a week or a month after I started work, then how? Oh and since I’m on probation, what’s the period of notice must give if I decide to quit?

Scam or not?

I’ve just gotten a call, apparently from The Mines marketing department from a Malay lady called Miss Zara. She told me that she got my contact details from Big Bad Wolf (I entered the lucky draw contest) and that I didn’t win anything but she’s taking all those other people’s form who didn’t win anything to let them know they have gotten a 3 days 2 night FREE stay at the Palace of the Golden Horses. According to her, I can also choose from other hotels that they are under them which is located in Cameron Highlands, Penang, Langkawi etc. but she didn’t name me any of the hotels/resort. Fishy, much?

Anyhows, she was blabbering so fast and so much I don’t really know what she was talking also but I rmb it was something along the lines of I have to come WITH MY FAMILY to POGH to collect that coupon/voucher to get the free stay. I asked her why can’t she mail it to my house address and she said because it’s a promotional offer and because I have to go for their 1 hour preview of the hotel FIRST before I can get them vouchers.

So, after all the talking, I’m confused. Did I actually win something? Or is this some kinda scam going around that I don’t know about?!
