UNITEN or KLIUC

I'm offered a place for degree programme in Civil Engineering in both universities.

-Registration date for UNITEN is 28 June 2009.
-Initial payment is RM500.
-Tuition fee is approximately RM 49,680
-Both MQA and BEM accredited.

-Registration date for KLIUC is 13 June 2009 (if I register before 23 May I'll get RM500 rebate and a free handphone).
-Initial payment is RM1000.
-Tuition fee is approximately RM 44,160
-MQA accredited, but not sure about BEM (insufficient information provided)
-Accredited by INstitution of Civil Engineers (ICE), UK

*Tuition fees for both are around the same.
*Geographically, both are located beside each other.
*Environment-wise, I don't know which would be better. From what I have found, preference is for Uniten.
*I know KLIUC has been given the University status in 2003 was was a college before this.

My hesitation now is towards which would be better for my future and tertiary studies in Civil Engineering?

There are slightly similar threads around but I noticed nothing much can help me except for a few so I really hope y'all here will help me out
Especially those who've been to both universities. Thanks in advance.

Dell : Studio 14 or Studio 15?

Forgive me if opening this topic is inappropriate.

Now, initially I was aiming for Dell Studio 14 for my university usage for engineering.

Later on, based on my customization, and considering current offers from Dell, Studio 15 offers better specifications at a lower price.
The only bad point is it's gonna be heavier.

Here comes my dilemma. Which would be recommended?

A portable and lighter laptop but more expensive by at least RM100 or cheaper and with better specifications but sacrificing portability? After all Studio 15 is said to be more on desktop replacement side.

Thanks.

I just got rejected from UNITEN. Or rather, I didn't get my first choice of Civil Engineering and was given something else. I haven't applied for UTAR yet. I've received a few suggestions of considering KLIUC (Kuala Lumpur Infrastructure University College).

Is it good? Is there anyone here from KLIUC?

Apologies if there's a similar thread to this but I've taken a look before asking here.

I've finally decided to pursue a degree in Civil Engineering. And based on my qualifications and financial background, I will only consider three local universities for that purpose.

UTAR
UTP
UNITEN

I've gathered some information about the three universities but wouldn't know which would offer better quality for my money and time and I'd like to seek advice and opinions from the experienced seniors here. Thanks.

HP Deskjet F2280 Printer

I hope I am posting this in the right place.

I just bought a HP Deskjet F2280 printer from SenHeng store.

Upon inserting the CD-ROM for installation and set up, the start-up screen with the instructions is in chinese. Which is very weird because in the setup guide in the form of a small leaflet, the diagram shows English. And I've never encountered any set-ups in Chinese.

And another thing, the Introductory Cartridge is product of Singapore. The Installation CD is product of China.

Now I wonder, is the printer fake? I am afraid I might have just got cheated.

Does anyone know? Can anyone help?

Which Degree Needed To Be A Contractor?

I would like to ask if anyone have any idea which degree is the most relevant if I wish to be a contractor someday in the construction field. Is it a Degree in Construction Management? Quantity Surveying? Civil Engineering? Or others?

Would it be more appropriate if I ask under Jobs and Careers?

Thanks

STPM CGPA 2.58

Hey I need help. My recent STPM result is

PA : A
MATH T : C+
PHYSICS : C
CHEMISTRY : C

The thing is, Engineering (particularly Civil) has been in my consideration for quite some time. And based on my results :

Do I really have what it takes to be a Civil Engineer? Should I still consider Civil Engineering? Is Engineering right for me?

I don't want to pursue it and end up regretting. And i am not asking you all to decide for me of course. i just wanna seek some opinions from anyone experienced here and to think through all opinions before i make my decision. Thank you.

About IPTA Apllication For After-STPM Students

There are 8 options for post-stpm students to fill in for the application for places in IPTA.

I found out that the first four choices must be of different courses. I think that is rather absurd because many would not have interest in four different courses all at once. And it would be unfair too.

Does anyone here know some tips/methods of applying based on experience so that our chances of getting our desired course is higher?

And is it often that students usually get the first of their choice?

I actually reformatted my Sony MP3 nw-e002f's built-in flash memory in my computer, when all i could've done was, to just reformat it by using the functions in the mp3 itself. now whenever i click play on the device, it says 'FORMAT ERROR' (the manual clearly stated this but i was ignorant enough, sigh)

how can i fix it? other than referring my player to sony centre?

ps. i think i posted in the wrong place. sorry

STPM or A-LEVELS

First of all if this kind of topic has existed before, I apologise and anyone can show me the link to it. Don't just vote. Tell me the reasons for your choices. I will appreciate it very much.

I'm selected for A-LEVELS (Science) at TARC. I got 8As in SPM 2006 and after 75% of tuition fee waiver, it's left RM1500++. (the original is around RM7000).

But I don't know which is more advisable to go for. and which is better.

A-LEVELS means spending money on books, accomodation, food, transportation, bills, and other stuff. that consume a lot of money. and i'll not be able to go for public universities.

while in form 6 everything will be cheap in my hometown. and the advantage is, i still can opt for public unis. if can't get a place, then only i go for private ones.

many ppl claim that Form 6 is hard. VERY hard. and A-levels is easier. but, since I've never been through any of the two, I don't know how much difference there is in tems of difficulty.

and ppl also say that during the 1.5 years of form 6, students mature A LOT. TRUE?

So I'm hoping someone who went throught this stage may tell me the pros and cons and their personal opinions too. and NOT BIASED point of view.

I don't want to make the mistake of choosing the wrong one.

p.s. I'm not darn rich. I can't afford going places like taylors and twin and go overseas. If I really have to go private ones, I'll have to either apply scholarships or take loans. that's roughly my financial condition. THAT IS WHY I'M CONSIDERING FORM 6 too.

I heard for quite a few times that in order to be an engineer(for example, Civil Engineer), who is allowed to practice in malaysia, must first posess a Masters in Civil Engineering. or in other words, must have 5 years of study. True?

So, does it mean that if one has a Bachelor, cannot practice in Malaysia? or anything like that? someone please shed light on that matter. thanks a million.

University CO-CURRICULAR requirements?

I've a question here.. i've heard my school teachers said that in order to get into local government institutions, we have to have co-curriculum points as well to show that we are active. That refers to Form 4 & 5 OR Form 6?

meaning, I've been quite active during form 4 and 5 by getting LOTS of SIJILS and entering LOTS of kelabs and persatuans and so on.. if I go form 6 and be totally passive, can I stand high chance to be accepted?

thanks.. sorry if i made things complicated here.. ministry of education made it complicated in the first place..
