According to the police, buying goods at a traffic light junction is an offence under Rule 10A(2) of the Road Traffic Rules 1959, and applies to both drivers and passengers in the vehicle.

The penalty is a fine of up to RM2,000 or a maximum of six months in jail.

Kuala Lumpur Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Department chief ACP Mohd Zamzuri Mohd Isa confirmed the law applied to buyers as well as sellers.

"Traders are advised to find a more suitable and safe business location," ACP Mohd Zamzuri said.

"Similarly, buyers should not risk purchasing goods sold at traffic light junctions as it can cause congestion or worse, lead to road accidents."

A car crash in Chon Buri on Friday led to the discovery of a large cache of military-grade weapons belonging to a Chinese man, whose phone contained consultations with ChatGPT about sabotage, as well as videos of him training with the Cambodian “Hun Sen Bodyguard Unit”.

The alleged couple at the scene in Chon Buri where their sedan overturned in Bang Lamung district on Friday.

Video found on suspect Sun Mingchen’s mobile phone shows him training a machine gun on a target.

The man, identified as Sun Mingchen, 31, reportedly claimed that he suffered from depression and intended to use the weapons for a suicide bombing, said Pol Lt Gen Pongphan Wongmanithet, commander of Chon Buri Provincial Police.

Psychiatric experts would be required to conduct further examinations to verify the claim, he added.

The chain of events began at 6pm on Friday, when Na Jomtien police were alerted to an accident in which a sedan overturned in Bang Lamung district. No injuries were reported.

The driver was Mr Sun and the passenger was a Taiwanese woman, Ma Yu-Hsin, 33. Further investigation found that Mr Sun holds both Chinese and Cambodian passports, as well as a pink ID card, an official identification document for long-term foreign residents of Thailand.

A search of the car revealed military-grade weapons, prompting police to extend the investigation to the man’s residence in The Maple housing estate in Pattaya city.

There, authorities were stunned to discover a large stockpile of war-grade weapons, some marked “LOT RTA”, indicating they were manufactured by the Royal Thai Army Ammunition Plant for official use.

Officers revealed that the residence had also been rigged with booby traps, with grenades wired to tripwires resembling scenes from action films. 😮

Some nearby residents were evacuated after authorities discovered a bulletproof vest rigged with C-4 explosives and configured ready for detonation. (Full list of seized items appears at the end of the story)

PUTRAJAYA: The new MyKad, which is expected to be introduced next month, will feature 53 security elements compared with 23 on the current version.

National Registration Department director-general Datuk Badrul Hisham Alias said the upgraded security features include laser engraving, ultraviolet (UV) elements, holograms, guilloche patterns, microtext, QR codes for enforcement purposes, and a chip with enhanced encryption technology.
