226bw Syncmaster monitor shifts automatically?

I'm currently using a 226bw syncmaster which is connected to my laptop.
I have a ati x1600 onboard with the latest drivers
OS is windows vista home premium
ATI catalyst 8.2 installed

Problem (I'll try to explain as detailed as possible)
I usually set my resolution/screen size to fit onto the viewing area of the monitor. Yet every 10 minutes or so, it keeps moving the screen a few pixels off the center.
Graphical example below where [ ] is the viewing area

BEFORE
[ 123456789 ]
[ 123456789 ]
[ 123456789 ]
[ 123456789 ]
[ 123456789 ]

AFTER(it shifts to the left making it unable to view whatever's on '9')
[ 12345678 ]
[ 12345678 ]
[ 12345678 ]
[ 12345678 ]
[ 12345678 ]

This is somehow reverted back to normal after pressing one of the menu buttons on the monitor so I'm guessing it has something to do with the monitor.
Tried many ways but can't figure it out.

So here's the question,
How could I stop this? It's really irritating
