Agriculture degree?

Want to ask you guys opinion on what would be a better course for my lil brother, he's taking spm this year, his results so so only, probably can get 3-5As for spm. But He speaks good English la.

So he's not sure what to study, I've seen him interested in IT, Biotech so far, but that's partially because the people in the education fair told him its a good course to study, I see alot of uni advertising and marketing this course as well, so I'm skeptical about it lol

And then I'd ask him why don't you study agriculture? My family is sort of in the agriculture business anyway. He does a lot of gardening work already too

But this course not really advertised a lot here, so I'm not really sure either

Any comments on job prospects for this course in malaysia or abroad? Also like an agriculture vs biotech comparison

Tq!

Note want to clarify, : I noticed the thread topic suddenly changing to that I want to influence him to study agriculture for some weird reason. I'm just giving him broader choices as he seems to be quite lost with what he wants to do. Also he's not entirely sure whats biotech or IT either so I'm looking for opinions here, as he's told me he doesn't know what interests him either.

Polyteknik? STPM?

Soo I'm a 2015 SPM and CIE O' Level leaver/. I'm at wit's end right now. My parents can't afford university at all. To the point where even if I had a scholarship I can't go and study since the living costs are so damn high.

So now. It's either STPM or trying to enroll into a polyteknik for a local diploma course for architecture. I'm thinking for Polyteknik Ungku omar, since it's nearby. But I heard it's rather difficult to enter, any comments? I'm Chinese by the way.

Oh yeah. I was also wondering, are the courses in polys taught in english or bm for architecture? I heard from my uncles and aunties that it's in BM, so I'm a bit worried about this. Since in universities, they're most probably teaching in English, I'm worried I can't get used to it when I go for uni level

Oh yeah how does one apply for poly? Do you apply before SPM results are out or after?

I know that going for poly will lower the chances of me entering a local uni like UM UTM etc, but I really don't want to study subjects that have nothing to do with what I want to do in the future (Architecture). Your thoughts on this?

Reason I don't want to take stpm:
1. Want to focus on my future career pathway
2. Don't want to put 1.5 years of effort on stuff I wont use in the next 5 years.
3. I heard it's crazy hard.
Your thoughts on this?

Tldr
1. How hard is it to enter PUO for non bumis?
2. Are courses (mainly architecture) taught in english or bm?
3. How do you apply for poly? Do you apply before results are out or after?
4. Poly thoughts.
5. STPM thoughts.

I cant think of any other questions so this will do for now.

Is a fine arts degree 'useless'?

I've come to the point in life where I need to pick between doing arts or doing a 'professional' job [lawyer, architect, doctor]

I'm really passionate about art. As in painting, drawing, etc.

But of course, when I told my parents about wanting to study Fine Arts, they frowned upon the whole idea, saying that a fine art degree leads you nowhere. And that I might as well just be an architect and have art as a side job or something like that. [I think most people who like to draw will face this problem lol]

So good people of lowyat, is a fine arts degree 'useless' as what popular belief says?

Discuss your opinions cuz' I really want to know, thanks!

possible to get straight As in 5 months or less?

I know this question pops up very frequently, can't help it, nervous examinee here.

Due to some reasons, I can only start studying SPM subjects, 5 months prior to the exam.

Is it possible for me to get at least 8As in SPM?

Note: !!I am taking both CIE O Levels and SPM, the syllabus in CIE is very different from SPM, many of the chapters in SPM are not covered in O Levels, so I'm worried I can't get an A, even though I can probably get an A in O levels. [I'm having my O level exam in ten more days lool]

I have a strong foundation for the 5 science subjects in O level, but not SPM..

Is it possible to learn the whole Chemistry/Physics/Bio and BM/SJ for SPM in 5 months or less? I have a strong foundation in maths so I'm not worried about maths much, by the way.

This is considering that I barel touched SPM related subjects in the past 2 years...

Reason to why I took O' Levels, got tricked by my school in thinking that CIE was better than SPM, even though they're more or less equivalent to each other.

I also notice that SPM requires a lot on memorizing. I opened up a reference book for SPM, almost fifty percent of it required memorization lol -,-

-Worried about SPM

*******Update: somehow got 8As in SPM soo it's possible everyone!

STPM of A Level for Law ?

So, I'm studying in Chinese Independant school right now, but not taking UEC. I'm 17 now, so I'll be leaving school after I finish my O' Levels.

I'm really interested in Law, but I'm kind of a pickle here, I don't know if I should take STPM or A' Levels after I graduate.. The only reason I'd like to take STPM is cuz' of Universiti Malaya, but a lot of my uncle/aunties/parents/teachers/friends/almost anyone says it's extremely difficult to enter UM (cuz of my skin color. I'd take the Bachelor of Law since I heard BoJ has a low passing rate since there's no classes..

I don't know if taking A' Levels and further studying in a private institute will be better, the fees are quite expensive if I wasn't informed wrongly... And I'd still have to take the CLP test or something after I graduate, and I think if I study in UM I might be able to improve my BM since I rarely speak the language in my five years of high school lol.

So what I wish that you kind people of lowyat can tell me,

1. If I take STPM, what subjects should I take alongside Pengajian Am? Can you go to form six in a government school or something to study or do you have to study on your own and take the exam as a private candidate? And how many subjects do you need to take??

2. Anyone know the fees for BAC? I'm considering going there if I have the funds to

3. Is it possible for a Chinese Independant School student to study form six?

4. What are the chances for a Chinese person to get admitted to Faculty of Law in UM?? I only heard rumours their bias to certain races, so I don't know much bout' it, but I really want to study there, since it's really affordable.

Sorry if there's a similar question like this posted here before, I read most of the forums about Law, but couldn't find one that answers my question

Edit: Should have added, I only have SPM and CIE O' Level Qualifications, I didn't take my UEC exams.

SPM?

I posted something like this a few months ago,
should I take CIE or SPM...?

CIE has it's pros and cons, it's much easier in Science subjects since it's not as detailed, but harder in Math and English. And has a fixed grading scale. But it's bloody expensive, for 6 subjects it's RM3600

SPM has it's perks and cons as well, it's much much easier, only Science is much detailed, but History and Chinese is hard to score, (not sure about Moral, can anyone enlighten me on it?) the grading system is kinda messed up, my friends said you could get a credit for 16% (I was surprised when I heard this) and an A for 50%, correct me if I'm wrong. And the fees are cheap as hell~~

I'm currently studying in a private school, the fees are ridiculous and everything is pretty lousy as well. My school doesn't emphasize on SPM subjects much... So we study SPM subjects at our own time, which is hard balancing both exams...

The question I wanna ask is, is CIE useful in Uni? (Abroad and Local) not including public unis..
I know some unis look at A level and O level isn't really important, but should I take SPM only instead of taking both?

I'm hoping to score full As in SPM...But I'm kinda doubting myself... (I'm form 3 btw this year, our school already picked what stream we going to in form 3..) CIE=O levels, right?

I want to study abroad, but I'm scared they don't accept SPM since it's level is pretty low.... The only problem is I'd have to transfer to a government school if I plan to take SPM only...

Need advice from people who took the two exams before... Did any of you regret taking CIE??

Feel helpless
In better, I mean as a good stepping stone for the future,
I was foolishly tricked into studying in a private school, the fees are really expensive
I heard from a friend that CIE O' Level and SPM can guarantee the same stuff, only that CIE is much harder..
I'm only 15 this year, but I really want to know which exam can give a much secure future...
I'm in Science Stream by the way!
