Properties for investment or Own staying

I have seen many discussion here people buying propoerties for investments rather than own staying. I just want to do a survey to see how true is my assumption. I know this won't be correct since some of the buyers might not come here but I presumed Lowyat Property Users can give me rough idea majority votes.

The reason for doing this is also because just want to collect information since many high rise properties will be completed by 2013. I would like to know whether it will be over supply? (No demand of renting out)

Thank you for participating.
Retirement planning by property investment

Everyone surely own a property for own stay or investment. Nevertheless, for most of the people I believe, surely plan ahead by taking their retirement just collecting rent or buy and sell.

I hope I can get some input from all of you, say you have 30 years to run and you have got RM200,000 cash on hands. No property, no KWSP (assumed working oversea), got family (with normal 2 kids), staying at family house. I wonder how many property would be enough for yourself for retirement. The reason I asked for yourself because everyone have their own expectation and different living style they are looking for. This is varies from people to people.

How are you going to plan that first RM200,000 as a stepping stone throughout the next 30 years?

Hope to hear from some of you. Happy Chinese New Year anyway.
