PETALING JAYA: Nearly RM1 million worth of prohibited sex toys destined for online sale were seized by the Customs Department during a raid on a warehouse at Taman Perindustrian Putra Puchong on Sept 30.

Federal Territories Customs Department director Wan Norizan Wan Daud said they seized 18,140 adult toys involving 30 different types and 20 varying brands.

"Based on our checks, the seizures were worth an estimated RM800,000," she told reporters at the Federal Territories Customs Office here today.

She said the adult toys were classified as "absolutely prohibited goods" (barang larangan mutlak) under the First Schedule, Item Five of the Customs (Prohibition of Imports) Order 2023.

"The raid was conducted following a public tipoff .

"Based on our investigations, these items were smuggled in from a neighbouring country," she said, adding that the syndicate was believed to be selling these adult toys for over three months through e-commerce portals.

She said they have arrested a man in his 30's who is the warehouse owner.

While the statement did not specify the nature of the probe, it follows reports that the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) is intensifying investigations into military procurements.

The investigation began on Dec 23 after a report was lodged by activist Badrul Hisham Shaharin, also known as Chegubard.

Badrul, who is the Port Dickson Bersatu chief, alleged that "large cash inflows" were detected in the bank accounts of a senior officer and his family members, purportedly from companies that had secured military projects.

Citing a forensic audit of documents he received anonymously, Badrul claimed the officer received monthly bank transfers ranging from RM50,000 to RM60,000.

The documents also purportedly showed larger transfers of several hundred thousand ringgit into accounts linked to the officer.

He said preliminary investigations revealed that the pair were instructed by their employer to record the drone footage at the site, but were unaware of the actual purpose.

He said checks also showed both men had valid travel documents.

Mohammad Lazim said that the suspects were charged at the Kuala Lumpur Sessions Court yesterday under Sections 3(a) and 4 of the Official Secrets Act for spying and recording in a restricted area.

"Both pleaded not guilty after the charges were read to them in Mandarin.

Judge Izralizam Sanusi denied bail and fixed Sept 11 for the appointment of counsel and submission of documents," he said.

apparently me mum bought one of these hydrogen inhaler machine (maybe not the same model & brand) and claimed it will help with her GERD and asthma. she spent RM3k on it.

alleged health benefits; reduced inflammation, allergies, etc the usual MLM 'all-cure/panacea' claims

the brand & description of this product and it's so called 'health benefits' screamed like typical MLM snake oil to me and made me a bit angry at her for falling for yet another MLM snake oil for so many times, and the sale agents for scamming the elderly.
thinking logically, why would you even need hydrogen-infused air or water when hydrogen is already there in the composition of air and water that's already around you and the water u drink.

but as I googled around more, there are several research articles (not much, but there are a few) of 'oxyhydrogen therapy' and evidences of health benefits from such therapy. One from KKM even; KKM MAHTAS

New MH370 search to begin

PUTRAJAYA: Malaysia's Cabinet has approved, in principle, the proposal from Ocean Infinity to resume search for the wreckage of Malaysia Airlines Flight MH370 in a new area in the southern Indian Ocean.

"The Ministry of Transport is currently negotiating the terms and conditions of the agreement with Ocean Infinity, which is expected to be finalised in early 2025," said Transport Minister Anthony Loke Siew Fook in a press conference today.

Loke added that the search would begin immediately after an agreement is reached.

"The company's proposal is credible and merits further examination by the Malaysian government as the state of registration for MH370," he explained.

On Nov 5, Loke said the ministry was considering an offer submitted in June from Ocean Infinity, a marine robotics firm based in Austin, Texas and Southampton, United Kingdom, to resume the search for MH370.

He said the offer by the firm's UK branch was based on the "no find, no fee" principle, which means the government would not have to make any payment if the wreckage is not found.

The offer covered a new area of about 15,000 sq km in the southern Indian Ocean "proposed by Ocean Infinity based on the latest information and data analysis conducted by experts and researchers consulted by the company."

On March 8, 2014, flight MH370 en route to Beijing vanished from commercial radar screens less than an hour after taking off from the Kuala Lumpur International Airport.

It was later revealed that the aircraft, which was tracked by military radar, had made a 180-degreee turn, crossed the peninsula to the Straits of Malacca, turned north before being lost somewhere north of Sumatera.

The use of satellite technology later surmised that the aircraft, which had 227 passengers and 12 crew on board, ended up in the southern Indian Ocean.

An extensive search and subsequent ones turned up nothing, though several pieces of debris, some of which have been confirmed as having come from MH370, were found on beaches on the east coast of Africa and nearby islands.

Reuters reported that an Israeli strike on the southern Lebanese city of Sidon killed three Lebanese citizens and wounded three Lebanese soldiers and four Malaysian personnel from Unifil forces, according to the Lebanese army.

The strike targeted a car while it was passing a checkpoint, which led to the killing of the three Lebanese who were inside it, the army said in a statement.

The wounded soldiers had been serving at the checkpoint, while the Unifil personnel hit were in a vehicle of the United Nations peacekeeping force that was passing through the checkpoint at the time, according to the Lebanese army statement.

Yesterday, Malaysia sent its first batch of the Malbatt 850-12 peacekeepers consisting 220 officers and enlisted personnel led by its commander, Colonel Johan Effendi Mohd Shalleh.

Malbatt 850-12 comprises 854 personnel, including 82 officers and 772 enlisted personnel, with an additional three officers and 27 personnel from the Royal Brunei Armed Forces and a civilian financial officer from the Defence Ministry.

The deployment follows the return of the Malbatt 850-11 contingent, which has completed a 12-month service there.

Is there a way to somehow null/wipe an nvme drive that's no longer detected in BIOS?
Context: Bought a NVME that's unfortunately suddenly failed, and it's now no longer detected even on BIOS. I want to return it to shop for RMA claim, but there are a few sensitive data inside though. Is there a way somehow to wipe it/render whatever inside unreadable?

The 2024 National Youth Survey conducted by Merdeka Centre revealed that 54 per cent of the 1,605 respondents favoured such a political arrangement.

PETALING JAYA: The culture of “quiet quitting” has intensified in Malaysia, and employers must accept a large chunk of the blame for flouting employment laws and best practices, a human resources expert said.

Quiet quitting occurs when people opt out of tasks beyond their assigned duties and become less psychologically invested in work.

Srithren Krishnan, director of human resources for consulting group KPintar Sdn Bhd, said the problem is prevalent in small and medium enterprises (SMEs) because business owners are either not that well-versed with employment laws or indifferent towards them.

As an example, he cited the case of a Muslim-owned rehabilitation centre which refused to approve an application by a Muslim employee for annual leave over the Hari Raya Aidiladha period.

“The after-effect was that the employee stopped doing anything extra on her job, delivered the minimum and then, finally, quit,” Srithren told FMT.

In another incident, he said an employer who runs a physiotherapy centre sought to introduce a new employment term banning employees from working in a similar industry for two years upon termination of their employment, depriving them the right to practice as physiotherapists for a prolonged period.

“Those affected employees went on quiet quitting by not being honest (with) patients that they (were treating) and started moonlighting. They said: ‘Why should I work hard when my employer is very selfish?’”

Srithren said the quiet quitting trend has intensified since the Covid-19 pandemic, as employees saw an increase in their workload but not their pay.

“This has caused longer working hours with less compensation and less time devoted to their personal lives.

“As the quality of work-life balance deteriorates, the intention to quiet quit gets in,” he added.

Multinational corporations (MNCs) are not immune to quiet quitting by employees, but, in their case, the dissatisfaction is usually about pay.

He said, local employees become less invested in their work when they learn of their expatriate colleagues’ inflated salaries, and eventually leave because they feel that their contributions are not appreciated.

Senior employees in MNCs who experience slow wage increases also resort to this when they find out about new hires with substantially higher wages.

“Workplace loyalty will drop among senior employees; they will start contributing the least and will not participate fully during meetings or in team events,” he added.

Unappreciated

Several workers shared with FMT how they have been quiet quitting for some time.

A lab scientist at a private hospital in Kuala Lumpur said she used to enjoy working even 60 hours per week during the Covid-19 pandemic as she was well-remunerated and worked in a positive working environment.

However, everything changed when a new team leader emerged. The new leader, she said, would brush aside suggestions from the team on how to improve work delivery.

“I would be called bossy (as) I expect my opinions to be acknowledged. The opinions of senior colleagues are also ignored,” she told FMT.

She also said her leader played favourites with certain employees and his lackadaisical attitude toward lab work further pushed her towards quiet quitting.

“In the past, I used to ask for additional tasks. Now I don’t, and I have also stopped sharing ideas for improvements, regardless of their importance.

“I just stick to working ‘9 to 5’. I have never clocked out a minute later than 5pm,” she added.

She said team leaders and employers should listen to the opinions of colleagues and staff members, so the workforce will not feel unappreciated.

Overburdened

Meanwhile, a contract lecturer at a university in Selangor told FMT he has been quiet quitting for some time. He says he has been burdened with much more work than his colleagues, which has disrupted his family life.

“I don’t go beyond what they give me,” he told FMT, adding that he feels under appreciated.

He said companies should set up an online workplace evaluation system that would allow them to share their grievances.

“Rather than waiting for people to come forward, create for us a system so that employees with problems can be detected much earlier.”

Exploited

An engineer in Penang said that, as a new hire in his current company, he used to “give 110%” because he thought his efforts and skills would be recognised.

However, as time went on, he began to realise that the bosses were exploiting the workforce by making them work extra hours with no overtime pay.

“I decided to stick to my limits, offering the bare minimum,” he told FMT.

He called for employers to compensate their staff for overtime and allow for greater flexibility when it comes to completing tasks.

He also called for employers to chart clear career progressions for their employees and make available opportunities for skills development.

Srithren recommended that employers look into job rotation to keep staff members motivated and allow them a proper work-life balance.

He also recommended that employers create avenues that allow staff to air grievances about their workload.

Why people stubborn still willing to do it even though it is illegal, and both original owner and new 'owner' would bear significantly high risks?

Among the risks;
- New 'owner' did not continue paying the loan installments. Bank will penalized the ori owner for default payments
- Any written contract/agreement between ori owner and new owner are null/useless/non-legally binding. so bring to court/bank also useless if there's any dispute.
- Original owner do not want to transfer car ownership legally, even after new 'owner' have paid off the loan & new owner could do nothing about it.
