Advertising vs Marketing

Hello everyone.

I'm currently studying in a foundation programme but I want to pursue advertising for my degree. I have also considered marketing and am slightly torn between these two options.

So fellow LYN-ers-- what is your opinion on these industries? What is the working lifestyle like for an advertising graduate and a marketing graduate? Will these two industries be working relatively together actually?

For those that are working in the advertising industry, what is your day-to-day life like?
And if you're working in the marketing industry, how is your daily life like?

I am leaning more towards advertising because I am not very fond of mathematics thus not trying to pursue a business degree (advertising is mass comm, marketing is business), although I understand if advertising has no escape from statistics.

(edit) The reason why I have considered marketing instead of advertising is because I've heard many times that a communications degree is worthless... thoughts?

I appreciate any input anyone has to offer. This is a major decision for me to make and I am looking to do as much research as possible.

I'm looking around for a college for a diploma in mass communication and I came across IACT college. I've searched it and I found good words about them, but they were all from around 2010.

Is anybody here able to vouch for the college in 2017?
How are the facilities like?
How good are the lecturers and the learning quality?

Would really appreciate if anybody could clear my doubts

Is there such thing as SPM Japanese? I remember seeing it posted on facebook before saying there are new foreign language subjects to be added into spm like Japanese, Korean etc. I've searched google and came up with nothing. No details whatsoever.

I'm taking my SPM this year and would like to add JP to my SPM subjects if it's possible. Does anyone on lyn know about this, if possible?

(TLDR version below)

Hello.

I'm 16 years old this year, in form 4 with add maths, accounting and economics as my extra subjects. Currently I am just able to cope with add maths, not good or excellent but I think able to pass. Economics is not really a concern for me as it is in my school.

However accounting is where the problem comes. I am not doing well at all (i literally got 0 for the last test) and I just have no interest at all in it. I am considering dropping it, should I? Is it worth it? Please advise.

And while I'm here and already making a topic.. I don't know what do I want to do in the future when I grow up. My only clue is that I think that I'm above average on the skill of public speaking. I am a regular in a nearby Toastmasters club (the >18 ones) and have represented my district in the school state competitions just a few weeks ago. I'd like to hopefully take advantage of this and get into a career that compliments this however I don't know the ins and outs of the scene which I'd like to seek advice from anyone from here. And yes I know a good grasp of communication skills can literally be used in everything and anything but I feel what I'd only be passionate about is just 'stand on a stage and speak to a crowd'. Say, something like the idea of 'sell your product to dozens of clients a day' doesn't interest me at all.

TLDR: don't like accounting and want to drop it, would like to seek advice before making a decision. no clue what to do in the future, have a public speaking background and would like to seek advice for a career that's close to that.

Laptop display is.. purple

I was playing a game when my screen turned from normal to purple, and it also duplicates what's on the screen about 3 times >_<

What could be the reason here? I have searched online and got different answer i.e lcd problem, cable problem, gpu problem..?

I have opened the laptop before to check the ribbon cable but it didn't change anything.

Warranty is loooong over.

Help?
