Chinese President Xi Jinping announced at the White House on Thursday he was gifting the U.S. with two giant pandas and invitations for 100,000 U.S. students to study in China.

“The giant panda has been an envoy of friendship between the Chinese and the Americans,” Xi said, speaking alongside President Trump and other officials from the U.S. and China.

“Here, I have a piece of good news. In a few days, two pandas — Ping Ping and Fu Shuang — will come to their new home in Zoo Atlanta and meet with the American people,” the Chinese leader added.

The High Court in Kuala Lumpur dismissed Wan Muhammad Azri Wan Deris's application to stay a judgment requiring him to pay RM280,000 in damages to former Penang Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng and his son, Clint Lim Way Chau.

The court found insufficient grounds for a stay, noting that Azri's claims of potential appeal success and bankruptcy risk did not justify halting judgment execution.

He was ordered to pay additional costs of RM5,000.

This stems from a defamation case over posts by Azri alleging Way Chau's 2020 detainment for undeclared cash in Singapore

The Malaysian government has extended the BUDI Madani Diesel eligibility transfer facility, enabling registered private diesel vehicle owners to transfer their monthly subsidized diesel eligibility to any eligible individual, effective immediately.

Previously, only immediate family members were eligible for transfers.

This move addresses concerns, particularly in Sabah and Sarawak, and raises the monthly subsidized diesel limit for certain vehicles to 400 litres.

Registered owners can transfer eligibility up to three times, subject to application approval, without affecting vehicle ownership.

Applications can be submitted via the BUDI Madani portal or at Inland Revenue Board offices.

why malaysia healthcare unsustainable

Heroicage — Thu, 03 Sep 2026 10:42:12 +0800

https://codeblue.galencentre.org/2026/09/wh...-unsustainable/

Malaysia’s health financing model is fundamentally unsustainable because most Malaysians don’t pay income tax. This is also the reason why a mandatory NHI scheme isn’t feasible. MediAsas is also just a mirage because it’s just private health insurance.

main point
Consider the arithmetic. Malaysia has approximately 2.5 to 2.7 million individual taxpayers actively contributing to the national coffers. This represents roughly 15 per cent of the country’s total workforce.

The remaining 85 per cent – some 14.5 million workers – pay no income tax because their earnings fall below the taxable threshold.

FEDERAL Court judge Datuk Collin Lawrence Sequerah described former prime minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak’s plundering of state-owned 1Malaysia Development Bhd (1MDB) as graver than acts by Atilla the Hun, as his role in one of the world’s greatest financial scandals resulted in humongous debts of tens of billions of ringgit that will have to be borne by generations of Malaysians

The Shibuya Hands store closure is a significant event, ending nearly five decades of operation in a landmark location.

Its distinctive architectural design and longstanding association with the Shibuya neighborhood highlight both its commercial and cultural importance.

The closure underscores challenges faced by retailers related to infrastructure and property leases, especially in aging urban buildings.
