Lazada return & refund. But why suddenly refund

At least twice already I experienced this. First (maybe 3 years ago) I bought futsal boot, around RM20+ but then the size is too big, so I asked to return & refund. After submitting the return & refund, Lazada just say no need to return, and they just process the refund. Got it within a few days. Just now also want to return a cheap black shoe, RM5+ because of the size is too big. So I chose return & refund, but then after I submit photo and video, Lazada just said no need to return, and they straight away refund my money. Pity the sellers la. Why Lazada do this?

When will ChatGPT be able to replace programmer?

I'd say it's still a loooong way. Because ChatGPT or any other AI really loves to make things up. These past few months I relied a lot on ChatGPT because I'm too lazy to read the documentations particularly for AWS DynamoDB and Redis, so I just asked ChatGPT and sometimes Gemini. While I can say they gives maybe 70% things correct, the other 30% that these ai spewed are just bs. And they spewed these bs so confidently lol. Wasted my time because at the end of the day I had to go through the documentations and write the codes myself

So I googled "why sometimes chatgpt just make things up" and apparently they have the term "AI hallucination". So it seems currently AI are just like politicians; sometimes (ok to be fair politicians do this all the time) they just say some bs and tried to justify it until we present the fact to their face then only will they say oh sorry"

Tobacco and vape industries influenced madani

It was cowardly and irresponsible, says Khairy

PETALING JAYA: Former health minister Khairy Jamaluddin (pic) says he has finally been proven right while those in the medical profession expressed shock and are demanding an explanation after it was revealed that Big Tobacco and the vape industry had influenced ministers and MPs.

Khairy said he knew all along about the lobbying but had nonetheless tried to implement the Generational Endgame (GEG). He said he now felt vindicated after Deputy Health Minister Datuk Lukanisman Awang Sauni confirmed in Parliament the tobacco and vape industries were behind the snuffing out of the GEG.

“I am glad Lukanisman is honest enough to admit that Big Tobacco has penetrated the government, the Cabinet and our MPs,” said Khairy, who also labelled the government as “cowardly and irresponsible” when it removed the GEG component from the anti-smoking bill.

He pointed out that Malaysia is a signatory to the World Health Organisation’s (WHO) Framework Convention of Tobacco Control which disallows tobacco lobbyists from influencing national policies.

“Under the framework convention on tobacco control, you are not supposed to allow Big Tobacco to influence policy decisions.

“I am saddened that this happened during this government’s time,” said Khairy.

“They were irresponsible because they did not think of the future generation. They were also cowardly because they caved into whatever reasons Big Tobacco gave them.”

He said that if the government was too afraid to introduce GEG provisions, the least it could do was to tighten existing regulations on tobacco sales.

“Introduce plain packaging regulations first. Second, bring in the display ban, where cigarettes cannot be displayed in stores and have to be stored in drawers,” said Khairy.

He also urged for tighter regulations concerning vape sales, saying they are being sold rampantly to minors.

“Who do you think these flavours like strawberry, raspberry are being catered to? They are catered to minors,” added Khairy, who also took Health Minister Datuk Seri Dr Dzulkefly Ahmad to task for being slow in tabling vape regulations to the Cabinet.

He also noted the lack of vape regulation after nicotine was de-listed from the Poisons Act during former health minister Dr Zaliha Mustafa’s tenure.

“First thing, bring the regulations to Cabinet quickly. The regulation has to be clear and tight about where you can sell vape.”

Former Health Ministry official and public health expert Datuk Dr Zainal Ariffin Omar said Lukanisman’s revelation was shocking.

“The truth has finally come out. There have been the rumours that were discussed among anti-tobacco groups,” he said.

“This shouldn’t happen if the government really cares about the health of current and future generations.”

Malaysian Medical Association president Dr Azizan Abdul Aziz said the government now owes the people an explanation over the revelation.

“It looks like the truth is finally out,” she said.

“It’s very disappointing to hear about the kind of influence big tobacco and the vape industry has on such an important public health Bill.”

sos:https://www.thestar.com.my/news/nation/2024/03/15/it-was-cowardly-and-irresponsible-says-khairy

Malaysia's semiconductor manufacturing flourishes

Malaysia's semiconductor manufacturing flourishes in the face of U.S. and China's Chip War
News
By Christopher Harper published 2 days ago
Semiconductor manufacturing companies (including familiar names like Micron and Intel) are setting up or expanding into northern Malaysia

While the ongoing Chip War between the United States and China has seen plenty of negative outcomes for Chinese and US customers alike, the struggle is also contributing to a massive boost in Malaysia's semiconductor manufacturing, reports Financial Times.

Since United States regulations are pushing many semiconductor manufacturers away from China — especially high-end US tech companies that rely on that Chinese manufacturing power — they are being forced to look elsewhere on the globe for land and labor. Some of the manufacturers pouring into Penang, Malaysia are familiar faces, including the likes of Intel (which has been present in a Penang rice field since 1972 according to FT), Micron, and more. The turn in the market has reached the point where Malaysia now leads the world in US chip imports, as of February 2023.

The rush of foreign investments into Malaysia has come in the tunes of multi-billion dollar ambition from major industry players, like Intel. By itself, Intel will spend a whopping $7 billion on new, Malaysian chip assembly and testing facilities. The overall total of foreign Malaysian investment in 2023 was $12.8 billion, and that exceeded its seven-year combined total from 2013 to 2020.

As one may expect, the Prime Minister of Malaysia, Anwar Ibrahim considers the development of Malaysia's semiconductor industry and workforce into higher-value manufacturing a "critical goal", according to Feb. 24 FT interview.

Interestingly, the "foreign investments" certainly aren't limited to US companies: other major nations are getting their tech built in Malaysia too, with China also being one of them. This seems to make Malaysia an interesting meeting ground for buyers and sellers at the highest level of the international semiconductor and electronics market, though there is some speculation in even the Financial Times piece that US scrutiny could eventually put a damper on this.

What Malaysia seems to need more than anything else to maintain its major player status is a front-end semiconductor manufacturing plant. Trade Minister of Malaysia, Zafrul Aziz, asserts as much in the original Financial Times piece, concluding "I am optimistic we will attract more than one. All it takes is one to kick-start a wave."

Penang, Malaysia is a north-western, two-part state of Malaysia composed of the city Seberang Perai and the separate Penang Island, which is separated from the other half by the Penang Strait. Penang Island also holds the capital, George Town, which is Penang's second-largest city by population.

Meanwhile, Seberang Perai is the third-largest city in Malaysia and the site of many shipping ports, rice fields, and so on. Comparatively, the Penang Island is a little more urbanized, but still a major economic hub in its own right. Based on its geography and available resources, Penang seems like the ideal place for many foreigners to start doing business in Malaysia.

sos: https://www.tomshardware.com/tech-industry/...chinas-chip-war
