The Indian ‘lost tribe’ that wants to move to Israel, even ‘fight Hamas’
Amid an ethnic conflict at home, a small community in northeast India is trying to move to Israel, where they say their roots lie.

Aizawl, India – Joseph Haokip, an undergraduate student in Manipur, is excited at the thought of going to Israel. He is ready to join the Israeli army to fight Hamas in a war in which Israel’s brutal assault on Gaza has killed more than 26,000 people, mostly women and children.

The 20-year-old and his family have recently returned to their home in the Kangpokpi district of Manipur after five months in the neighbouring state of Mizoram where they had fled when an ethnic conflict broke out in Manipur last year.

“I stayed in a makeshift camp with the other members of the Bnei Menashe community since August last year and have just returned a few days ago. But I want to go to Israel and connect with my lost tribe. I also want to join the [Israeli army] and help them in fighting against Hamas because I belong from that land,” Haokip told Al Jazeera.

Rafael Khiangte, 37, a taxi driver in Aizawl, Mizoram’s capital, wants to move to Israel along with his wife and toddler to connect with his ancestral roots and reunite with his mother.

Khiangte’s mother Sarah Pachuau, 58, relocated to Israel along with her brother in 1993. “I belong from the lost tribe and want to stay with my mother and also provide a better future to my daughter … I want to reunite with the land from where we got separated over 2,700 years ago,” Khiangte said....

THE National Higher Education Fund Corporation (PTPTN) has announced a 4% dividend for 2019 for SSPN-i and SSPN-i Plus.

PTPTN chairman Wan Saiful Wan Jan said the fund also distributed an additional 1% dividend to those who opened their SSPN accounts before 2017 and met certain requirements.

Hi all,

My current old PC specification:
I5-4670k @ 4GHz
Gigabyte mobo (forgot) chipset
RAM: 24GB (2x8 + 2x4)
Storage: All SSD 512GB+128GB+ 1TB
GPU: Sapphire Nitro RAdeon RX580 8GB

I am thinking to upgrade my PC with budget of around RM2K. Currently eyeing this combo:
Ryzen 5 3600
GIGABYTE X570 GAMING X
2x8 RAM (not decided the brand yet)

I only use my PC for gaming @ 1080P 72Hz only (my monitor limitation).
Is this a good combo considering my budget?

Additional query; is it easy to migrate to new platform (currently on win10) whithout clean install? My Win10 is a genuine version upgraded from Win7.

DP cable problem

HI,
I just bought a brand new monitor Samsung CF591 that comes with HDMI and DP input. I bought this monitor to make use the DP connection to my PC. When I connect my PC with a DP cable I bought from local PC shop, My PC stuck in boot loop with no display. The fan start and off continuously. When I use HDMI, no problem. My GPU is GTX1060.
I tried with my spare GPU (RX580) -same problem. I searched the web and found the DP pin-20 problem which is quite common. Can anyone help me suggest a solution for this? I would like to make use of both monitor input because the HDMI port will be connected to my PS4.

Facebook busts Israel-based campaign to disrupt elections

JERUSALEM -- Facebook said Thursday it banned an Israeli company that ran an influence campaign aimed at disrupting elections in various countries and has canceled dozens of accounts engaged in spreading disinformation.

Nathaniel Gleicher, Facebook's head of cybersecurity policy, told reporters that the tech giant had purged 65 Israeli accounts, 161 pages, dozens of groups and four Instagram accounts. Many were linked to the Archimedes Group, a Tel Aviv-based political consulting and lobbying firm that boasts of its social media skills and ability to "change reality."
Gleicher said Facebook could not speculate about Archimedes' motives, which "may be commercial or political."

But he said Facebook discovered "coordinated inauthentic behavior," with accounts posing as certain political candidates, smearing opponents and presenting as local news organizations peddling supposedly leaked information.

The activity appeared focused on Sub-Saharan African countries but was also scattered in parts of Southeast Asia and Latin America. The pages have racked up 2.8 million followers and hundreds of thousands of views.

Gleicher said Archimedes had spent some $800,000 on fake ads and that its deceptive activity dated back to 2012. He said Facebook has banned Archimedes.

Facebook has come under pressure to more aggressively and transparently tackle misinformation aimed at sowing division and confusion around elections, since the revelation that Russia used Facebook to sway the 2016 U.S. presidential election.

On its website, Archimedes presents itself as a consulting firm involved in campaigns for presidential elections.

Little information is available beyond its slogan, which is "winning campaigns worldwide," and a vague blurb about the group's "mass social media management" software, which it said enabled the operation of an "unlimited" number of online accounts.

The site, featuring a montage of stock photos from Africa, Latin America and the Caribbean, boasts of its "own unique field within the social media realm" and its efforts to "take every advantage available in order to change reality according to our client's wishes."

A message seeking comment from the company was not immediately returned.

Archimedes' chief executive is Elinadav Heymann, according to Swiss negotiations consultancy Negotiations.CH, where he is listed as one of the group's consultants.

A biography posted to the company's website describes him as the former director of the Brussels-based European Friends of Israel lobbying group, a former political adviser in Israel's parliament and an ex-intelligence agent for the Israeli air force.

Messages left with Heymann through Negotions.CH were not immediately returned.

4K ultra HD Bluray

Hi,
I am planning to buy a 4K Ultra HD Bluray movie to play on my Xbox one X. However I found the movie I want is region B coded which is I think cannot be used with my Xbox one X,my Xbox is region A since it is sold as Singapore unit.
After further investigation, I found this:
'Blu-ray Disc media have region codes, but unlike DVD players, the region codes for Blu-ray Disc media use letters instead of numbers to indicate a particular zone or region where the discs can be played.

Ultra HD Blu-ray Discs, on the other hand, are region-free and can be played back using a player that supports Ultra HD Blu-ray, regardless of the region where they were purchased.'

14-year-old boy pleaded guilty to raping ....

KAMPAR: A 14-year-old boy pleaded guilty to raping his 16-year-old sister at a magistrate's court here.

However, no sentence was meted out, as the court was waiting for a report from the Welfare Department.

The rape led to the birth of a premature baby girl on Dec 15.

The media were not allowed to enter the courtroom to observe the proceedings.

Magistrate Nur Faizah Muhamad Saleh adjourned the matter to Feb 20 for the report to be obtained.

The offence was committed between December 2017 and May 2018 at a house in Taman Diawan, here.

He was charged under Section 376B(1) of the Penal Code, which carries a maximum of 30 years' jail and whipping on conviction.

The boy, who was dressed in a blue chequered shirt and black slacks, covered his face as photographers took his pictures.

Several family members were seen waiting outside the courtroom and a woman, believed to be a relative, scolded the media in Tamil for taking his photos.

It was reported on Dec 16 last year that the girl, a school dropout, was unaware that she was pregnant until she gave birth to the baby on Dec 15.

She had given birth in a toilet inside the family house and the baby suffered head injuries after dropping into the toilet bowl.

Perjanjian Air Malaysia-Singapura

*Sejarah yang tidak ramai Rakyat Malaysia tahu tentang hubungan kita dengan Singapura.*

Antara perjanjian terakhir yang dimeterai oleh mendiang Lee Kuan Yew sebelum berhenti sebagai Perdana Menteri Singapure pada 28th Nov 1990 ialah perjanjian air antara negara yang ditandatangan dengan Tun Dr Mahathir dan Menteri Besar Johor Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin.

Pada 24th Nov 1990 iaitu 4 hari sebelum Kuan Yew bersara, Tun Mahathir bersetuju untuk memberi tanah Johor seluas 54,000 ekar (seperti dalam gambar) kepada negara Singapura selama 71 tahun dengan herga RM710 juta sebagai bayaran terdahulu (untuk gantirugi kehilangan kegunaan tanah dan premium tanah) dan bayaran tahunan sebanyak 3sen untuk setiap kaki persegi.

Tanah asal Malaysia seluas 54,000 ekar ini ialah 18 kali ganda keluasan tanah baru yang kini ditambak dari laut untuk projek Forest City

Tun Mahathir juga bersetuju dalam perjanjuan 1990 itu bahawa pengambilan air oleh Singapura ialah dengan syarat tanpa had dan tidak lagi dihadkan kepada 250 juta gallon (1.14 bilion liter) sehari seperti yang pernah ditulis dalam perjanjian air Malaysia-Singapura tahun 1962.

Harga pengambilan air sehingga 250 juta gallon sehari yang dibayar oleh negara Singapura juga kekal pada harga 3 sen untuk 1,000 gallon (4,550 liter) yang ditetapkan pada perjanjian tahun 1962.

Oleh kerana Tun Mahathir tidak memilih untuk menaikkan kadar ini pada tahun 1987 seperi yang dibenarkan dalam perjanjuan tahun 1962 itu, harga pengambilan air oleh Singapura untuk 250 juta gallon sehari akan kekal pada harga 3 sen (ataupun RM7,500 sehari untuk kesemua 250 juta gallon) sehingga tahun 2062.

Berita tentang perjanjian ini disiarkan secara luas dan diraihkan sebagai suatu kejayaan di dalam media Singapura pada masa itu tetapi jarang dimaklumkan di dalam media arus perdana Malaysia sendiri.

Akibat ini, tidak ramai orang Malaysia yang tahu tentang kewujudan perjanjian tahun 1990 ini.

Kekecohan di kuil Seafield bukan isu kaum, kata ketua sami

SUBANG JAYA: Insiden kekecohan yang berlaku di kuil Sri Maha Mariamman di USJ 25 awal pagi ini tiada kaitan dengan perbalahan sesama kaum India mahupun kaum lain, kata ketua sami kuil berkenaan, Jeyakumar Subramaniam.

Sebaliknya, beliau berkata ada cubaan provokasi yang sengaja dilakukan pihak tertentu yang mengaitkan kekecohan itu dengan perbalahan kaum.

“Ini bukan pergaduhan 2 kumpulan India, sebaliknya yang berada di dalam kawasan kuil ini semasa ia berlaku sebenarnya adalah kaum India dan penganut Hindu (yang berada di dalam kuil) disuruh keluar dari kawasan ini.

“Cara mereka (yang menyuruh keluar) bertutur bahasa Melayu tidak menunjukkan mereka berasal dari sini… they are not Malay (mereka bukan Melayu),” katanya kepada pemberita, hari ini.

Sementara itu, Ahli Parlimen Batu, P Prabakaran berkata insiden itu melibatkan 1 kumpulan yang dijadikan kambing hitam oleh pihak tertentu untuk mewujudkan kekecohan.

Beliau menegaskan kejadian itu bukan insiden perbalahan kaum dan masyarakat perlu bertenang serta tidak mengeluarkan sebarang kenyataan yang berbaur perkauman.

“Saya difahamkan ia berpunca daripada salah faham berhubung isu pampasan dan pengosongan tapak kuil ini. Saya ingin menyatakan kejadian pagi ini adalah di luar isu perkauman dan mahu masyarakat berhenti daripada meniupkan api perkauman.

“This is not racial issue, this is temple issue (Ini bukan isu perkauman, ini isu kuil), saya mahu pihak polis menjalankan siasatan menyeluruh bagi mengetahui siapa yang membesarkan isu ini,” katanya kepada pemberita selepas melawat kuil berkenaan, hari ini.

Setakat 12 tengah hari ini, polis menahan seramai 7 lelaki bagi membantu siasatan kejadian, yang berlaku 2.30 pagi sehingga menyebabkan kecederaan terhadap beberapa individu selain 18 buah kenderaan dan 2 buah motosikal dirosakkan dan dibakar.

Upgrading bike

Hi bikers,
Currently I am looking forward to upgrade my bike from CBR250R (2014) to the new Versys 650.
I need confirmation: Kawasaki does not sell ABS model here? because I really wish to have ABS due to my past 'close call' experience ( my CBR does not have ABS).
Let say I just forget about Versys because of no ABS and opted for Suzuki V-strom 650 which comes with ABS, how about the maintenance of this Suzy? long term wise?
I am using this bike for daily commute only; 140km/day. Please advise. TQ.
