Macro lens Vs Prime Lense for portrait

I'm thinking of getting serious with portrait shot and want to buy a lens purposely for it. As i look on lens review and sample photo. I baffle between choosing which lens is better for portrait.

If i choose macro lens, the lens does provide good bokeh and also be use for macro shot. But the lens create an image that is too sharp that even the skin hair can be seen. Which is not a pretty thing to show to a lady.

The prime lens, Canon 50mm or 85mm is widely use for portrait. Thought personally i didn't find the sample shot to be really good to. Just good. So guys what's your opinion
