Sony ericsson Xperia Play simple review

Not really good in writing review for device, but I think this is something worth sharing.

As the subject mentioned, this topic is about the SE xperia Play a.k.a Playstation Phone i brought from taiwan with helps from my friend.

Why Taiwan?
1) Malaysia only AP
2) Taiwan offer better packages - you will see some photo later.

Let get down to the Phone itself, to be fair on the phone, i believe we must know this is a 50/50 game&phone device, hence it not able to compare to his thinner brother ARC which offer bigger screen, thinner and better camera! But with all these in exchange with something out of ordinary - PS game!

So we cant actually compare this phone with anything on the market, is a unique device.

Let look at Play as a phone, It is one of the smoothness android i yet to play(last unit is froyo), it is mainly because of Gingerbread is onboard. or maybe is the 1g processor, nonetheless, switching game and phone and browser and music is a breeze.. just like flipping book.

I know some people concern on the thickness of the phone 16mm for a 2011 model phone is consider thick... but trust me, it is just like a 3gs putting on a casing... so no big deal over there.. you will know what i mean when you hold one on your hand... below are some photo i compare with iphone 3gs & a 50cents coin

in terms of other standard feature like sms, call, contact, email, browser.. is standard, so nothing to review.

But I would mentioned on the camera... I donno issit me or this model dont come with manual focus... mean when you point to an object, you touch the shutter button, it will focus what ever it want and took that photo.. so it make you taking moving object abit hard... i really hope the upcoming update can have touch focus support for play.

second bug i felt is the homescreen are not rotatable.. mean even you slide out the gamepad, go to home, the homescreen will look sideway... but if you slide down the notification, it will rotate to horizontal... only the homesscreen, music player or timescape look fine with horizontal mode also... weird.. hope this can fix on upcoming update too.

Let look at the game portion...

first thing first, I never own a portable game device before, so my comment could be quite newbies...

overall the game is excellent!!! my package come with 5 pre-installed and a voucher to redeem another 5 more gameloft (customade for play) games.. yet to download.

the gamepad is very ps2 like, tho I will comment the R1 & L1 button look tangling... so you need to get use to with the feeling...

most of the customise game support the capative touchpad in the middle, but for more action pad game play the dpad still the best..

interm of the game performance, as i mentioned above, half way play fifa, phone call in, it doesnt lag a sec, once the phone call ended, you go back to your game instantly.. without lag... even if i running on a 3d games..

second thing about the game system manage memory very well, if you play a game and want to exit, just hit home.. you will direct to home and launch another game instantly... no loading..

thats all for my comment for using it 2 days, will post more feedback when I discover new thing..

Oh, about the package in taiwan ya... Yes, the package i brought in taiwan come with free Cradle, plastic protector, mobile charger(5000mah), and the game voucher as I mentioned above.. below are some images of the cradle and the side dish.

assume i can read chinese and it is contract free..

if i brought a android phone from taiwan do i need to change anything to use it in malaysia?

i use to buy handphone from singapore telco and straight it can be use in malaysia...

but recently I try to buy it over from taiwan.. Xperia Play ... hence i wonder will the phone be lock or anything..

i believe if is off contract phone should not have any sim lock righht?

any of can give confimation? i need confirmation instead of i think so... cause I think so too..

DiGi New android Music application

Hi All,

I believe music download on android is pretty normal, but just to share something interesting from DiGi.

They just launched a DigiMusic play - a unlimited downloading music application for android recently, got to know from my digi friend(as a tester)...

If you may know, they have launched the service on iphone last year, so recently they just expand the model support to blackberry and android, I think is a good move for DiGi to build application for the smartphone...

in term of the product, the UI is exactly like the iphone app(99%), you can refer to the iphone screen shot to see how it will look like

So what can 1 do was browse, download and play... good stuff is the song listing is changing everyweek, so you wont have nothing to downloads... bad, it use data , so make sure you use WIFI or sign up a smartplan...

sign up smartplan also give you 30day free to use the app, not bad..

overall, is not itune killer, but it got potential...

anyway, please share if you also have tried this app...

I tried on sonyericsson x10mini pro, the app can scale down nicely...

DiGi New Music download app for Blacbkberry

Any of you knew about this? got to know it when i was browsing DiGi music website...

If not mistaken, the music app is similar to the one they launch last year for iphone.. offering unlimited download music via the application...

Now is available on Blackberry and Android... siok... been looking for a good application for my torch... now i must download this one..

the DGsmart plan customer get 1st month free for the services, so i guess is a monthly subscription le... too bad am not smartplan customers.. but will try to subscribe for 1 2 months and check out the service

You can either search the app from the appworld or send DMP to 2000 to get the link to download the app..

android market: "start downloading.."

Hi Android fans,

Have you encounter problem while downloading app from market? It seem like a very common problem happen in android market but there are still no official solution for it..

I just upgraded my milestones with 2.1 eclair..
so i start download some of my fav app from the market. free punya...
but all downloads was stuck at "start downloading" and cannot download..
i read some thread(in google forum), ask me to reset factory setting, it works! for 1 night.
the next day i found out there are alot of fail downloads in my notification, i did not download those apps.
then the market is back to "start downloading" problem again...

read the support forum, it seem like happen to most android, even samsung, htc, and others brand had the same problems... no google personal have give a official solution for it.. so i come to ask all the master here..

i believe it may cause for non-rooted models, so any nice guy here faced this problem and fixed it before?

i using milestones... please helps.
