Access To Other User Account

My PC is running two Win XP in different partitions. One of the Win XP couldn't be accessed [including Safe Mode] and it contained files in the desktop section which I would like to retrieve. Since I couldn't even use Safe Mode, I'm unable to use both Admin and User accounts to get the files. I'm able to use the other Win XP to access the faulty one including the root directory but not the private files [desktop section] as it's password-protected [access denied]. Is there any method?

Unable to change VS in Vista

I'm using Vista SP1 and have patched the required files with both VistaGlazz and UxStyle Core (only one at a time). However, I still couldn't use the downloaded visual styles such as Longhorn Air. When I try to change, it will revert back to Classic mode. Please help. Thank you.

Suspected Paypal 3rd-Party Fraud

I'm a Paypal seller and today a buyer transferred RM100 to my bank account instead of the agreed RM120. He only transfered the money 2 days after I confirmed the deal and gave him the bank account details. Upon questioning, he said either I send to him Paypal fund worth RM100 or wait another few days before sending me the RM20 balance. I'm suspecting a 3rd-party fraud where the money is from other people. What should I do?

Correct Settings For 2 Internal HDD & 1 DVD-Writer

I've 1 250GB SATA internal HDD, 1 80GB IDE internal HDD and 1 DVD-Writer. The 80GB HDD and DVD-Writer are connected using the same IDE cable while the 250GB HDD is on a separate cable. I'm using the 80GB as the main HDD with OS installed and the 250GB to store files. This setup has causes slow performance of a newly-installed Windows XP SP3. Installation of programs is awfully slow. Previously, I used the 250GB as the main HDD while the 80GB to store files without any noticeable drop in performance. I'm also not sure about the correct jumper settings for them. Can anyone provide the correct jumper settings for all the drives or recommend a better setup to improve performance?

P.S. I also noticed the Current Transfer Mode for all the Primary and Secondary IDE Channels are 'Not Applicable'.

Home Wireless Network Setup

As I'm using my laptop a lot at home, I'm planning to get a router to set up a wireless network for my laptop to get internet access. I've never setup such network before. I'm currently using Aztech DSL 206U with my desktop and the modem is usb-powered. If I buy a router-only, this poses a problem as I need to switch on the desktop at the same time in order for the modem and network to work. Here are my questions:

1. If I get a router, does that mean my desktop will be connected to it via a LAN cable? Can I still use a phone cable to connect it?

2. Is there any solution to using a router-only and the current modem without the need of switching on the desktop at the same time?

3. If I buy a modem-router combo, what will the most affordable option e.g. good reliability/price ratio?

Confused With Maximum RAM Capacity

I've a Acer Aspire 5583NWXMi bought almost 2 years ago. When I bought it, I upgraded the memory to 1-piece of 1GB RAM from 512MB RAM. I'm planning to upgrade the memory again as I'm using Vista which needs more than that. However, I don't know whether the maximum capacity is 2GB or 4GB. Here's the statement from the user guide:

"Up to 2GB of DDR2 533/667MHz system memory, upgradeable to 4GB using 2 soDIMM modules (dual channel support)"

Another thing, I only have experience in installing desktop RAM. Is it the same with notebook RAM or much more difficult? Thank you.

External Sound Card for Laptop

I bought my Edifier S330D almost a year ago for my laptop. Although I'm happy with the quality of music coming from the speakers, I'm considering of spending more money to have an even better experience. I'm mainly into music (75%) and movies (25%). For movies, they are almost all with only stereo sound [downloaded stuff ]. I've a budget of around RM400 [more if it's really good] and is interested in getting an external sound card. Most probably I'm not getting a 5.1 speakers anytime soon unless they can really turn my songs into 5.1 [I was told songs are strictly stereo].

1. Will the sound card provide significant improvement over the sound quality?

2. Or is it better for me to get expensive speakers such as S730D?

3. I browsed through the pages of some sound cards where they mentioned about 'simulated/virtual' surround sound. Are they any good in 2.1 setup? How 'real' are they? Can they make songs 'surround' too?

By the way, I'm using Vista 32-bit. Hopefully, someone can recommend a good [best value] external sound card for me. Thank you.

P.S. I know there are a few threads on external sound cards but most are talking about 5.1 setup.

Posted on 1/2/2007: I bank-in the money but I've not receive any reply/answer on the status of my items. Before I bank-in the money, he would reply to my sms within 5 minutes. However, my 3 sms and numerous [>30] calls aren't replied or answered. The hp number is working but no one answer the phone. I think I've been conned.

Anyone who have successful or unsuccessful trades with him? Anyone know/seen this person in real life? RM570 is a large sum of money to me. I'm still a student. I'm going to give him until this Friday before deciding the next[only?] action i.e. making a police report.

1st Update: He had contacted me. The stock will arrive tomorrow. I'll let you guys know once I received the items.

2nd Update: On 2/2/2007, he asked for my Maybank account information because he wanted to refund my money. He said he was very busy and was having problem with his supplier. I gave him my info but until today, I still haven't get my refund. He didn't reply/answer to my numerous pm/sms/call. I decided to open this thread again because I'm losing patience and I'm certain that there is at least one buyer[nick=diners] who hasn't receive the item/refund. I hope others who are in similar situation can come forward.

1. What are the differences between them? They are about RM200 except R401 which is getting most of the recommendations from other members in this forum.

2. Can they measure up to Altec Lansing ATP3 & V4121, Creative Inspire 2100 and Logitech X230?
