1st Home Renovation Journey

Greetings! We have just purchased our 1st home not long ago and it’s a landed home which we intend to make it as our dream home! Since our family only have 3 members (with a corgi) so we don’t really need a really big landed house.

Therefore, after researching several new launches we finally found a landed house that suits our lifestyle and can’t wait to renovate it to how we like and stay there!
Currently the house is still under construction, so we have plenty of time to do planning now, everything is not final. The purpose of my post is to get the professional or experienced people feedback/suggestions.

House Details:
Land Area: 20’ X 60’
Built-Up: 1621 sqft
Rooms: 3

As we are rapidly saving up money for renovation, we have decided to keep our target realistic to our renovation objectives. *we have no idea how much would be the actual cost at this moment [May 2021]

Budget Renovation Cost: RM 80,000

So far, we have yet to decide should we hire Interior Designer, but we have roughly designed our dream layout for our home via a game call Sims 4:

Renovation touch points:
1. No renovation for bathroom is needed since it’s a new unit.
2. We decided not to renovate our other 2 bedrooms.
3. We decided not to do any tiling for our yard space, will put artificial grass on top.
4. We would like to focus our renovation on Living area and master bedroom only.
5. We intend to get all the heavy drilling/hacking work done first, for other rooms we can do minor renovation.
With excel worksheet, we have calculated that we will spend around RM 72k for our renovation.

Budget touch points:
1. To be really honest, we have no idea what are the current market price, so we only estimate price by comparing IKEA, Shopee, Lazada.
2. Why I put lesser amount on Painting and Wiring is because my family member does this business.
3. We don’t intend to get luxurious branding but intend to get long lasting material. For e.g: Panasonic, LG are well branded for their Aircon and Washing Machine respectively.

Misc touch points:
1. Since we are extending our yard wall, local permit is needed
2. Serves 100-plus or kopi peng to the contractors
3. Take a lot of progression photos
4. Clean up cost need to be considered

Since this is our first house and first renovation process, we would much appreciate any pros here can provide us positive feedback and let us know if we missed out anything important!

Can company "force" employee to get vaccinated?

My company just sent out email with such statement:

"All employees who have not registered for vaccination to do so IMMEDIATELY so that this immunization program in the community and amongst all employee in particular run smoothly."

Regardless of my reason to be vaccinated or not, do I need to explain myself to my employer? Funny thing is, my employer doesn't strongly imply SOP in office where there's employees who took off mask in office.

Hi guys, just a random question. how do you guys fully utilize office's resources?

For example, being a cheapskate, I bring my own phone charger and charge my phone during office hour so I no need to charge at home.

What other "tricks" / "hacks" can you guys think of?

Hi all, My gf and I just had our puppy for few weeks in during the MCO 2.0. Everything is going smoothly and fine as she is staying with me throughout the MCO 2.0

But my gf wish to return to her own home during CNY and doesn't expect to stay at my place for every single day. However, here's the thing, I will need to take care of the puppy myself, and I felt that I am not able to take care of it myself since I have to work and I might get stressed up having to take care of it alone.

What's the option we can take as a couple to make it "fairer" and less burden on one side of the party? Should we set schedule, so she can come to my place on the weekend to help me take care of the little puppy while I take care of it during the weekday?

Appreciate if there's any advises.

TL:DR - Gf and I got a puppy together, now she wants to move back to her parents home and I have to take care of the puppy myself during the weekdays.

How do I clear this up?

Well my dad has left me with his workshop which repairs 2ndhand home appliances. As I plan to close this shop down in 2 months time, may I know what is the best way to clear off all the items or do you guys have any recommended services? I believe some of the stuffs worth a lot of money and I wish to get some profits in return too.

As you can see, it's a huge mess!

Dear Lowyat,

I am a fresh graduate majoring in Enterprise Information System. My course teaches very basic and minimal SAP functions/modules.

I am currently looking to venture into FUNCTIONAL SAP career path. I believe this is the direction I want to try as I felt that I am somewhat passionate about this. Because I took my own time to watch Youtube videos and learn more about SAP as a whole.

But coming to my main questions, is there any recommended up-to-date online resources/online courses that I can enter or learn from since my current job is totally not related to SAP.

Also, if there's job opening for a Functional SAP Consultant (Fresh Graduate) kindly introduce to me too!

Hi guys, my Morgan Water Dispenser just spoilt and now I am researching for alternatives...

I have a 2L electric kettle to boil drinking water and I leave it to cooldown for room temperature but I also want to have access to hot water instantly.

Is it wise to get a Thermo Pot, if so what brand recommended?

Or is there any smarter ways around this?

Why PLUS Highway STILL HAVENT GOT PAYDIRECT/RFID?

Just experienced a facepalming incident just now evening at NKVE. I remember my TnG ewallet got more than enough credit to pass. Mana tau I only remember back this PLUS dont have this feature. Then I press the button beside the scanner (standard procedure) the woman staff walk to my car and tell me walk to the building on the left to top up via the KIOSK.

Why no Paydirect or online topup to TNG card yet may I know? Kindly enlighten me.

Home belum ready yet, want to see if can pick up something for the future and the product can still be relevant in few years time. So technology thingy I don't think it worth buying for now.
