don't know whether this is the right place or not...if it's not right then mod, pls help me to move it

mine is a dvd burner. it works well all this while until recently after i format my comp cause it was attacked by virus. after formatting, i reinstalled everything and things work well until i tried to burn some movies into dvds to save space in my comp. but it can't detect the new rw-dvd i bought to burn. but when i put in other dvds that are with files, the dvd rom can read it as usual. may i know what's the problem with my dvd burner? is it spoilt?
