The system is specially design for Academic Affair to manage the course map and the syllabus. Course map is a guideline for the lecturers which are the course content, assessments, lectures notes, students’ attendance. While syllabus is contains specific information about the course, such as outline of what will be covered in the course, a schedule of test dates, due date for assignments and so on.<br /><br />The function of the system is let lecturers able to view, download, print and search the course map that they need to lecture for the new semester. It will make lecturer easier to get the course map and more time to prepare the lectures. <br /><br />While the administrator—Academic Affair will able to add and delete users, add, update, delete and view the course map and the syllabus. Academic Affair can less keeps so many files at their office with exists of the system. With this system, it’s easier to get the course map anytime and anywhere and lecturer always be prepared for the brand new semester.<br /><br />1.1 Problem Statement<br />The problem statements of the Academic Course Map Inventory System are shown in below:<br />• Administrators only can refer the course map or syllabus on the file that given by the Academic Affair. The papers might be lost and when needed, lecturer need to look for it for long time.<br />• When the administrators want or need to update or edit subjects on certain course is not easy and wasting time because need search different files and do the changes.<br />• There are so many subjects in one course. It needs many files to keep all the information and details of the subjects. Administrators might confuse the subject’s file.<br />• All the guideline of lectures is written in paper, it was not environmental friendly because it was paper based processes. Use less papers will reduce the cuts of the trees. <br />• External lecturers need come to Multimedia College to take the course map of the subject. It is wasting his/her time and car petrol to come just for take the file yet the college is far from Kuching town. <br /><br />1.2 Objective<br />There are some objectives for this project. The objectives were written as below:<br />• Administrators can refer the entire course map’s information through the system.<br />• Administrators can update and edit the course map easily and save time.<br />• Administrators will not working with too many papers yet all information is record in the database.<br />• Lecturers just do the changes via this Academic Course Map Inventory System. This will save time and energy to do other things.<br />• External lecturers at own prefer location to download the course map<br /><br />1.3 Scope of Project<br />Below are the scopes of the project:<br />• Administrators can refer the course map and syllabus just some clicks and some typing then every things that they needed is list in the computer. With this system, they can do their work more efficiently.<br />• Administrators can add, update, delete and view the syllabus easily and it takes not much time to do it. They no need to work more just to search so many files to do the changes.<br />• Some subject’s name is similar. The administrators might take wrong files. The course map contains many papers. With this system, they no need to look at the thick papers of information.<br />• The important information will kept in the database and no need keeps so many files in a corner. The office will not look crowded and untidy. It is environment friendly because use less papers to do record. <br />• The system will bring ease to the external lecturers because external lecturers don’t need come to college just to take the course map of the subjects. The perceived advantages of the waterfall process are that it allows for departmentalization and managerial control. A schedule is typically set with deadlines for each stage of development and a product can proceed through the development process. In theory, this process leads to the project being delivered on time because each phase has been planned in detail.<br />• Requirements: Encompasses those tasks that go into determining the needs or conditions to meet for a new or product, taking account of the possibly conflicting requirements of the various stakeholders, such as users.<br />• Specification: An explicit set of requirements to be satisfied by a material, product, or service.<br />• Design: Design the interface of the system.<br />• Implementation: The realization of an application, or execution of a plan, idea, model, design, specification, standard, algorithm, or policy.<br />• Integration: The process of linking together different computing systems and software applications physically or functionally.<br />• Maintenance: Maintaining the system like backup data, malware management and file system maintenance.<br /><br />1.5 Expected Outcome<br />The expected outcome of the system is can reduce heavy paper works for the administrators. Administrators only need do some clicking mouse and some typing then can complete the information that need to be edit or update. <br />The system also brings ease to the user. Users can view, edit, delete and update in just some clicks and typing then save. The system will let lecturers able to check the syllabus and be prepared for the brand new semester. <br /><br />1.6 Conclusion<br />As a conclusion, this function of the system is can view, download, print and search the syllabus by the lecturers in Multimedia College. Lecturers no need to carry a heavy file that contains guideline for lectures. <br />While external lecturer can download the course map at home, no need come to college. The lecturers can search the information that they need.
