University Business

Hi, guys, experienced business people , professional people, how do you think about this business? I seriously have a long term investment and project wish to be done. Maybe started of as small scale, and if luck is there and can be upgraded in to large scale in near future. I noticed there is no any UNIVERSITY inside the town of IPOH. But we can see they have many big malls AEON(built last year), Parkson(newly renovated) to caters the needs of the ever increasing population in the city.
So is it a wise choice to invest and build a first ever University in the Ipoh town?
But so far none of any tycoons or government related bodies to build one. maybe because they worry about the numbers of students to enroll and also the quality matters.

permanent deaf

Let say you staying in a flat. Ground floor. Then someone playing firecrackers and throwing it right beside ur windows very near to ur ears and causing permanent deaf on ur ear. Can the culprit be charged? If yes under which act? Thanks. Or it cannot be charged just considered as normal accident?

For this property tax, is it means if now i sell my house for Rm100000, then i must pay 333333 as tax to the government?

The High Court has given not guilty verdict on former minister Tun Dr Ling Liong Sik in the Port Klang Free Zone (PKFZ) scandal.

He is a free man but who's the culprit?

The probe into the PKFZ land deal began in 2009 when then Port Klang Authority chairman Datuk Lee Hwa Beng lodged a report following a financial audit of the project.

The project, which was initially estimated at RM1.1 billion after it was mooted by Ling in 1997, more than quadrupled in cost to RM4.6 billion 10 years later.

The prosecution had called 25 witnesses while the defence had called eight witnesses in the course of the trial over the Cabinet’s 2002 approval of the Port Klang Authority (PKA)’s purchase of the 999.3 acres of land from PKFZ’s turnkey developer Kuala Dimensi Sdn Bhd (KDSB).

During the trial, Mahathir had given evidence and rebutted allegations that Ling had acted with criminal intention to cheat the government.

He wanted to borrow money from me to fun for his study he said. The amount is 6k. So for sure i wont be stupid and need to check everything clearly right and hopefully he wont be another liar or scammer.
So i asked him to provide me his SPM certificate, IC photostat only and also the place he is studying.
Is that too much?

Robbing at late night

Yesterday nite i was at Kl Sentral. My car park inside there. Then i used LRT train stopped at Masjid Jamek station. And then proceed to plaza rakyat station. I want to go Pudu raya to meet my friend before he leaving to johor. OMG, while walking through that passage , got a group of youngster. He stopped me! I duno why i stopped at the first place. And then showed me a paper and asked me to fill in my name, age and so on. he showed me 2 items, and asked me to write on the paper how much this 2 items worth in my opinion. So i just wrote it. When i were about to leave, then he said "if you dont have small change, then he can change for me". Funny. Means he wants money. I refused! But kept on forcing and at the end i took out Rm10 from my pocket and gave him. Before i leaving, he gave me a small plastic items, very very small. And then i faster walk away from there and i saw a malay guy and talked abit with him. hey abang, you call polis lar sana ada budak mahu tipu duit. And then another malay guy came and said yala, dulu i also kena robbed Rm60 by this gang in seremban station there.

I really duno why i will give them money. After the incident then i re-think again its obviously some kind of cheating gang. I duno is it they bomoh me until i listened to him and gave him money. If i were given a chance again i will surely wun give! i was thinking to report to polis but then this gang so smart, he gave me an item before i leave and i took it. So very hard to sue them liao. So guys beware if it ever happen to you.

You guys experienced this situation before?

Malacca revives straits bridge project

MALACCA: The Malacca Government has revived the controversial 48.69km-long Malacca-Dumai, Indonesia, bridge project across the Straits of Malacca, after a seven-year lull.

Chief Minister Datuk Seri Idris Haron said finer details of the project linking Teluk Gong in Malacca in the peninsula to the port of Dumai, in Sumatra, would be revealed when all mechanisms were in place.

If implemented, the bridge straddling the busiest international shipping waterway would be the world’s longest, even without including a 71.2km-long highway to be built between Dumai and Pulau Rupat, the closest connecting point.

“The project was discussed during the 10th Chief Ministers and Governors’ Forum (CMGF) of the Indonesia-Malaysia-Thailand Growth Triangle (IMT-GT) convened in Koh Samui, Thailand, on Sept 12.

“The forum took note of the economic potential and strategic positioning of the IMT-GT with the construction of the Malacca-Dumai Bridge,” Idris said yesterday.

Insights on a feasibility study on the bridge undertaken by Strait of Malacca Partners Sdn Bhd were given during the meeting.

The company had earlier appointed the Hunan Provincial Communi-cations Planning, Survey & Design Institute of China to prepare documents pertaining to the study.

The idea of the bridge was first mooted in 1995 to foster new economic opportunities, especially in trade and tourism, between the two countries but died down during the Asian financial crisis in 1997.

In 2006, then Chief Minister Datuk Seri Mohd Ali Rustam restored interest in the project by saying that the groundwork for it had started and that studies showed that the bridge was technically feasible.

He also announced that the Export-Import (Exim) Bank of China had agreed to finance 85% of the link’s total cost, then estimated at RM44.3bil.

The proposal was submitted to the Economic Planning Unit with details on how the bridge would stimulate economic activities between the peninsula and Sumatra.

However, the plan came under strong objection from various quarters, including environmentalists.

Works Minister Datuk Fadillah Yusof, when contacted, said he was yet to be briefed on plans to revive the project.

Hubby kills man in jealous rage

BERA: A Chinese national was slashed to death by a jealous husband for allegedly spending the night with his wife at his house in Triang near here.

After killing the foreigner, the husband then turned to his wife and attacked her before fleeing.

The woman, in her 30s, suffered multiple injuries on her neck, hands and back during the 4am incident yesterday. She has been warded at a hospital.

A manhunt has been launched for the suspect, also in his 30s, who has gone into hiding.

Sources said the woman had invited the Chinese national to her home because she was fearful of being abused by her husband.

It is learnt that the husband, who is a taxi driver, was a habitual gambler and would beat her up.

The drama unfolded when the husband found out that his wife had invited a man to their house. He rushed back to confront the man. An argument ensued just before the attacks.

The couple have two children, aged two and six. It is not known if the children were in the house during the incident.

Both the children are now staying with relatives.

Pahang Deputy CID chief Supt Rosli Hassan said police were alerted to the incident at about 7.30am.

He said a Chinese national was found dead inside the house with multiple slash wounds, while the woman, who is a local and has a Singaporean permanent resident document, was sent to a nearby hospital for serious injuries.

“The case is being investigated under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder.

“Initial investigations showed the woman was having some problems with her husband prior to the incident,” he said, adding that police would interview the woman after she had recovered.

Supt Rosli said police were in the midst of tracking down the suspect.

Bull goes on rampage in Ipoh!

IPOH: Nine elderly Singaporean tourists were attacked by a rampaging bull in the middle of the city centre here.

The tourists, including their driver, were enjoying some tau fu fah at a stall on Jalan Raja Musa Aziz when the raging animal emerged out of nowhere and started attacking the group at about 4pm yesterday.

Housewife H.P. Tan said the incident left four members of the group injured, including her 74-year-old husband who fell and sustained lacerations on his ear, fingers and forearms.

“My husband is traumatised by the attack,” she said.

Their friend, Iris Teng, said the bull had stepped on her sister’s chest when the latter fell to the ground.

“We have yet to find out the extent of her injuries,” she said while waiting outside the Raja Permaisuri Bainun Hospital emergency unit at about 6pm.

Two other friends suffered bruises and lacerations, said Teng.

“We had organised a trip to Ipoh as it had been many years since our last visit. We were also to go to Cameron Highlands on Monday.

“This was supposed to be a good trip but it has turned out to be a horrible experience,” she said.

According to eyewitnesses, after attacking the tourists, the bull ran to nearby Jalan Yau Tet Shin, where restaurants sell Ipoh’s popular beansprout chicken and biscuits, and then on to Jalan Sultan Iskandar with policemen and Civil Defence Department officers in pursuit.

The animal was finally trapped and subdued when it entered the Elim Gospel Hall compound on Jalan Chung Thye Phin, a short distance away.

It was later learnt that the bull had escaped from its shed about 5km away from the place of the incident.

People running for their lives as the runaway bull tries to evade capture by the police .

KOTA BARU: A 22-year-old woman had a miraculous escape after unknown gunmen on two motorcycles fired five shots at her at a traffic light junction at Chabang Empat, Binjai, near here.

The shots smashed the windscreen of her car and pieces of glass cut her right cheek, nose, right arm and hands. However, Nurul Atikah Idris survived the attack which occurred on Friday.

As she stepped out of the car with her blood-soaked face and hands, passers-by rushed to her aid and took her to a nearby police station.

She was then rushed to the Universiti Sains Malaysia Hospital where her condition was reported to be stable.

Police said she could have been a victim of mistaken identity.

Nurul Atikah was travelling to Kubang Kerian from Bachok when the shots were fired point-blank, not far from the Binjai police station, at around 6.40pm on Friday.

Witness Wan Mat Zain Wan Omar, 64, said he and a friend were about 50m away and thought some children were playing with fire-crackers when they heard the shots.

“I only realised they were gunshots when I saw people rushing to the car and crowding around it,” he said.

State deputy police chief SAC Datuk Mazlan Lazim said initial investigations revealed there were four men involved and two had fired the shots.

“There is a possibility that the assailants shot at the wrong target,” he said.

“The victim sustained light injuries after the assailants shot at the car’s windscreen,” he added.

Police have since launched Ops Tutup to hunt down the four suspects.

The case is being investigated under Section 307 of the Penal Code for attempted murder.
