Receiving motorcycle from the United States

Alright, so a good friend of mine is ending his career from the Air Force in the United States. He's settling down in Florida and doesn't plan to ride his 2011 Kawasaki Ninja 250R cross country again, neither does he feel like transporting it back home.

So I joked with him that he should give Beatrice (the bike's name, she's a beauty) to me since he doesn't seem to be willing to sell it to sweaty dudes in the army. This is his beloved girl, after all.

And he was fine with giving it to me - he's not kidding too.

So I want to ask about the procedure of getting that bike from USA to Malaysia? I did some research and found out that Malaysians are allowed to import vehicles from overseas, but only if they studied/worked there and registered the vehicle under their name so they can get Approved Letter (AP) permit. This bike will be a gift so is there a legal way to get it past the customs as well as how much the import taxes will be and register it in Malaysia?

Or should I just e-mail the customs about this? I kinda want to ask lowyat first. Thanks in advance!

[WTA] 2nd hand bike

Greetings everyone!

As stated on the topic title, I have some inquiries. I want to buy a 2nd hand bike, and would like to know of the choices and their pros and cons.

Currently I am using a Yamaha Nouvo LC scooter. It's a great scooter, but the fuel consumption and maintenance are thoroughly killing me off even though I only ride around 70-80km per hour. It doesn't help that I have to commute 70km both ways to university from home and had to fill it up everyday. The fuel tank is way too small for such distance. Maximum is 4 liters of petrol. :/

I did some snooping, and asked my male coursemates about changing bikes, and they said FZ150i is a good choice since it has fuel injection and easy to find spare parts since it's just an upgraded LC135. Another recommended Honda CBR150 2008 version. He said its build is trustful and will last long because well, Honda. Another recommended Blade 250 EFI. Yet another told me to just get a cub instead, he recommended LC135.

I'm having a hard time choosing, to sum it all up.

Some requirements:

- 2nd hand because cheaper and can escape from installments in getting new ones. Blade 250 is actually a bit out of my budget >_<;;
- Considerably large fuel tank.
- Low maintenance.
- Easy to maneuver through Shah Alam's nasty road and Puchong's traffic jams.
- Bikes with clutch is fine, sometimes I ride my big bro's LC with clutch. Preferably with wet one.
- Comfortable seating for long distance. Low seat if possible - I'm a girl and a bit vertically challenged (158cm) (Nouvo LC seat around 740mm).
