Follow up or not?

Hey guys, need some help here. I went for this interview slightly more than one week ago, two days later, the department manager emailed me as I did not indicate my expected salary in my resume. She also asked that I provide information about any contractual bonus that I'm entitled to currently and possibly explain how the profit sharing scheme works, if any.

After a couple of email exchanges, she asked that I attach my monthly payslip together with my AWS and profit sharing payslip. After sending her the email with my payslips she never replied anymore. The conversation was last Monday so it would be exactly one week today since the e-mail conversation, the question is, should I email or call her to follow up on my interview result?

I've checked on many similar threads in this section but I still can't tell whether it would portray an image of courtesy or desperation if I contact them to follow up on my interview results Need some advice here guys, would you do it?

Sometimes my laptop keyboard works but most of the time it doesn't and it will type something that I didn't type itself... Even when I plug in USB it will still automatically type some weird things and it will even hold CTRL/ALT unless you go press them yourself

Compatibility of Processor

Since PC Fair is coming I decided to buy a new Intel processor since my old Prescott is failing me too much. I'm planning to buy Intel Pentium Dual Core E6300 but I'm wondering would it fit into my motherboard ? My motherboard supports LGA775 but from what I've read from here

Although Intel has been adjusting the specifications for Socket 775 with every new processor generation, the socket has retained compatibility with older Socket 775 processors. While you will need a new motherboard to run a Core 2 Duo (especially the upcoming 45 nm Penryn generation scheduled for Q1 2008), it is possible to even run an old Pentium 4 in many of today's Socket 775 motherboards.

TomsHardware

Does this mean that I won't be able to upgrade to the 45nm E6300 with my current motherboard that is running the Prescott 90nm processor ?

CPU-Z attached :

PS: Please do not suggest an overall system upgrade since money is an issue here...

Processor Slowed Down ?

For some god damn unknown reason my processor has slowed down. The previous Windows Experience Index rated my processor as 4.3 but now it became 2.2, though CPU-Z still shows that I'm running at the normal speed. Things I've done to my computer:

1. Format
2. Clearing CMOS and disabling BIOS password feature(jumper setting)
3. Relocating my RAM
4. Cleaned the thermal grease on processor surface accidentally (Most probable but I doubt the temperature of processor would affect it's speed, I'm still running my computer normally without the shutdown during overheat)

They don't seem to be the reason for this case

Windows 7 best function

Post your favorite new feature of Windows 7 here. For me I'm really VERY happy with the Windows Update feature in 7. Previous Windows Updates are like crap, they don't get the software you need and they would only trouble you by popping up so frequently. 7's update is so nice that whenever I plug in any USB devices it would download the the drivers for you automatically...

I installed two of my printers which I lost my driver installation CD. It's also very specific in searching for driver files ... Previously I have to download a big 170mb driver installation file for my printer (no/too hard to find alternative link) to make it work ...
Now 7 automatically detects it and downloaded a 13mb driver for me and it works wonder It also installed my graphic card latest driver right after I installed 7. Basically I don't have to search for hardware's drivers now as I just have to plug in and 7 settles for me

Help me to fix the code

» Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... «

The owner of the ‘Lite Lunch Lounge’ aims to sell daily a reasonably-priced three-course lunch to the local student community. To save costs, each day there is only a single choice of starter, main course and dessert. As with most establishments of its kind, the largest profit comes from selling the main courses. Unfortunately, the local students being frugal, hard-working and cost-conscious tend to only order a starter and/or a dessert.
As an incentive to order main courses, the owner has decided – where customers order a main course – to provide, free of charge:
•	a soft drink if they also order a starter;
•	coffee if they also order a dessert;
•	both a soft drink and a coffee if all 3 courses are ordered.
If customers do not order a main course or if they only order a main course, then there are no drinks provided.
You are to write a program that advises staff what to provide. Using dialog boxes, the program should ask what course(s) the customer is ordering and output what is to be provided. The choices are:
•	starter
•	main course
•	dessert
•	free soft drink (only if both a starter & a main course have been ordered)
•	free coffee (only of both a dessert & a main course have been ordered)
You may wish to use boolean (primitive) variables to indicate whether each course is required. Remember that you can use the wrapper class Boolean to convert Strings “true” & “false” obtained from input dialogs into their boolean equivalents.
e.g. String input = JOptionPane (null, “Enter true or false”, “Boolean example”, JOptionPane.PLAIN_MESSAGE);
boolean result = Boolean.parseBoolean (input);

CODE

import javax.swing.JOptionPane;

public class SolveIt
{
public static void main(String[] args)
{
String a = "";
String b = "";
String c = "";
String d = "";
String e = "";

String starter = JOptionPane.showInputDialog(null,"Do you want a starter?", "Starter, (true / false?)", JOptionPane.QUESTION_MESSAGE);
boolean starterYes = Boolean.parseBoolean (starter);
if(starterYes)
{
a = "a starter";
b = "a soft drink";
}

String mainCourse = JOptionPane.showInputDialog(null,"Do you want a main course?", "Main course, (true / false?)", JOptionPane.QUESTION_MESSAGE);
boolean mainCourseYes = Boolean.parseBoolean (mainCourse);
if(mainCourseYes)
{
c = "a main course";
}

String dessert = JOptionPane.showInputDialog(null,"Do you want a dessert?", "Dessert, (true / false?)", JOptionPane.QUESTION_MESSAGE);
boolean dessertYes = Boolean.parseBoolean (dessert);
if(dessertYes)
{
d = "a coffee";
e = "a dessert";
}

if(a == "a starter" && c == "a main course")
{
if(e == "a dessert" && c == "a main course")
{
JOptionPane.showMessageDialog(null, "The order is for:\n" + a + "\n" + b + "\n" + c + "\n" + d + "\n" + e, "Your order", JOptionPane.INFORMATION_MESSAGE);
System.exit(0);
}

else;

JOptionPane.showMessageDialog(null, "The order is for:\n" + a + "\n" + b + "\n" + c, "Your order", JOptionPane.INFORMATION_MESSAGE);
System.exit(0);
}

else if(e == "a dessert" && c == "a main course")
{
JOptionPane.showMessageDialog(null, "The order is for:\n" + "\n" + c + "\n" + d + "\n" + e, "Your order", JOptionPane.INFORMATION_MESSAGE);
System.exit(0);
}

else;

JOptionPane.showMessageDialog(null, "The order is for:\n" + a + "\n" + e, "Your order", JOptionPane.INFORMATION_MESSAGE);

}
}

My sir said that the codes can be shorten and this is not the right way of doing it even though it produces the correct output.

PS: Must use dialog boxes(JOptionPane) to ask for order and output order ...

Question on structure of an essay

I was given a research topic to write on a potential of computer ( just example ). It's a degree research for your information. I'm having a hard time deciding the body of the essay.

The main question is, can I write about the application/limitation/advantages + disadvantages/future of computer ? Since the main thing about the topic is the POTENTIAL, will I get off track by writing such things ?

Seriously, if I were to focus just on potential, it's nearly impossible to arrive at the minimum word count of 2000, for me that is.

It was so freaking obvious that 1st and 2nd runner up are MUCH prettier than the champion ... and they have performed equally during the Q&A session, I do not know how in the flying f*** Belle get champion

Just bought a HD4870 for my Dell Dimension 5100 dekstop and I found that it couldn't fit in due to two problems :

1) Heatsink of processor is too big that it somehow blocked the card from entering the slot ... I can remove the heat sink but I'm afraid that the processor will overheat ... Will it be a problem ? ( I don't overclock )

2) The casing is too small and and again the card is too long ... Is changing a new casing possible in solving this problem ? How much would a casing cost ?

Pictures :

[attachmentid=1125014][attachmentid=1125015][attachmentid=1125016]

I circled the part where the heatsink fan and the graphic card interferes.
