Buying laptop for mother

I'm planning to buy a laptop for my mother, and I was wondering what I could buy for her. She's mostly an internet user, and she barely ever does anything outside of the internet. Occasionally, she will write documents in Microsoft Office or Libre Office. She's a very light user.

Honestly, I'd prefer to spend somewhere between RM500-700 (or as little as possible) on the laptop, but I don't want to sacrifice usability, so I'll set my maximum budget to RM1K.

My cousin recently got his SPM results and scored quite well. He's looking to take up a diploma/degree in animation at one of these two academies. He wants to know whether there's a huge difference between the two because he comes from a relatively average background and his parents can barely afford fees for The One Academy while Dasein is much more affordable but less well known. GPhone Malaysia recently launched their new Android phone called the GPhone Evo at RM899. With an 8-core processor, dual SIM, original design and cheap price, can it compete with the other local brands?

Honestly quite surprised to see no one made a thread on this phone until now. Spec is very nice, quite affordable and got local warranty too. Even got promised KitKat update! So, thoughts?
