PhD Overseas Sponsorship

Hi guys,

I'm wondering what are the channels to apply for an overseas sponsorship/financial support for a PhD research post-grad study in areas of computer electronics/software engineering. I am from a Software/EE background which undertook Mechatronics for diploma, majored in VLSI in my Bach(Hons.) and Electronic Systems Design Engineering in my Masters. My post-grad masters program consisted of 30% coursework involving embedded/electronic design subjects, however 70% of my course involved my research in a VLSI design debug and diagnosis feature in FI FA for EDA tools. My course/research was fully funded by my company (*cough #1 Semiconductor company).

I had undergone classes and completed by research at night and in the weekends while still retaining my job as a project owner and my technical lead role in my team. This helped me retain a working experience of 2 years in an RnD department as a Software Engineer while completing the research which i love. I will be turning 23 this September and i long to pursue my PhD studies/research and would like to further my research by fully committing to it. My desires are to pursue this overseas as i have never had the opportunity to live abroad, though i had spent some time in Santa Clara, California while i was transitioned to solely own a software framework project, i fell in love with the professionalism and work ethics there.

I am extremely enthusiastic for software and computers because it makes me feel limitless and i'm blessed to be able to do what i love, but at this point i want to be able to learn and experience education outside of my comfort zone, overseas.

I hope anyone of you that has had this opportunity share your experiences; Truly appreciate it.

Hey guys,

I'm a B.Eng Electrical and Electronic Fresh graduate whom majors in Electronics (VLSI). I have recently gotten through a couple of interviews and as a result i've scaled down my options to two job offers as a QA engineer at Plexus Manufacturing or a Design Engineer at Sony EMCS Prai(R&D)[I]. I have to admit that taking the designing job is somewhat my area of interest and i would end up taking that job anyways. But before i do, i just want to listen to any biggies out there that has a whole lot more experiences to offer and advice. I'm all ears to take on any word, tips or even suggestions. Do feel free to let me know what you think about these offers, any background or relatable information that i should know about. Don't be discourage to reply to the thread even if your opinion is not engineering based. It'll be great to actually have a different perspective on this matter.
