WTA forummers in UAE

I've been asked to be seconded to my company's office in Abu Dhabi for minimum 3 months for a project.

The boss in that office said as I hold a Malaysian passport, I can enter the country and get visiting visa at arrival in airport which is valid for 30 days. At the end of every 30 days, they will either bring me to Oman or fly me out to maybe London for few days, so that I can re-enter and get new visit visa.

Is there something else I should be aware off? I've read on some sites that they sometimes have grace period meaning, once I leave UAE, I cannot come back within 30 days etc.

I will not be paid there and basically, just provided with living expenses and accommodation.

Appreciate if some of you guys working in UAE can comment.

[addedon]February 27, 2012, 12:34 pm[/addedon]Furthermore, since I'm effectively re-entering the UAE, do I need to adjust the dates on my return ticket everytime so that it specifies that I'll leave within 30 days?

DLNA on VAIO laptop

From what I understand, most VAIO laptops are DLNA certified, which means the laptop should be able to function as a media server? I went through the help pages of the VAIO MEDIA CENTER 5.0 software but didnt understand much.

What I would LOVE to do is to play music or movies off my laptop, communicating wirelessly to my PS3.

Anyone can help provide some keysteps in doing so?

I currently copy my avi files onto a thumb drive and plug it into the PS3 and it plays them fine.

WTA - GranTurismo 5 Prologue

Guys, having had my msia released ps3 for only 3 days, I'm finding it more n more buggy than expected!

I successfully updated my firmware to 2.42, then had no problems creating a PSNID after that. Thanks to the guys at the FAQ thread.

I was playing GT5 before the update without any problems. then, after the update, when i started the game, it prompted me to update the game. so, i did that, left it downloading to hdd for almost 2hrs, thinking some goodies would appear.

When I started playing it again, I tried online gaming. However, it hung while it was logging me in. I rebooted the system, then ejected the BD, and reinserted.

The bloody game now wouldn't start. The screen goes all black and dats it. Even the controllers can't switch the machine off.

Other games still work fine though.

What should I do? SHould i delete the update of the game? btw, where is the update saved anyway and how can I find it? I only see my profile and saved data in the XMB.

should i maybe do a reformat?

Thanks!

Need help with wii

Hi guys, I recently got the wii from a friend... for free!!
To cut a long story short, I got it **ahem** last weekend, and it now plays all games "out there"

I've been searching for the operating manuals, but everytime I try downloading from nintendo.com, the download hangs. Does anyone have a good link to share to get the manuals??

I need to know how to sync the remotes, as well as how to connect to the internet... and how to set up the wii channels.

Also, I know that the unit is a US-spec version... hence NTSC. Would it work if I used it in Australia where the default system is PAL?

Thanks!

Newbie VAIO SZ38GP owner

Hello everyone,
I just got my new lappie... the SZ38GP yesterday. Haven't played with it yet as my wifi router at home KO liao!! So, awaiting proper connection before I attempt to configure it. I can't wait to see how quick it is, as I've pushed the RAM to 2GBs.

Quick questions for VAIO sifus:

1) Is it recommended to create backup DVDs?
2) WinDVD has region lock and will not allow region change after a few uses. Any recommendations for this!?
3) As this is my first SONY lappie, is transferring pictures from my T50 camera a matter of plugging in the memory stick duo; or do I need to install drivers etc. Same with my W800 phone... can I just plug in the MS Duo?
4) As the battery is Li-Ion, I have the impression that there are no memory effects(?). Do I need to fully charge and discharge for the first few times?

More questions should come as I start using it today! Thanks!
