Malaga La Liga' City

Is Malaga La Liga's City?

The club was sold in June 2010 to Qatarian investor, Abdullah ben Nasser Al Thani. The club has also its own reserve team, Atlético Malagueño.

The club also has a sizeable British following, mainly down to the large amount of British expats currently residing on the Costa del Sol.

QUOTE

Sheikh Abdullah Bin Nasser Al-Thani bought Malaga for around $46 million this past June, he promised a steady, step-by-step development plan. His right hand man, Abdullah Ghubn, told reporters that "buying big name stars would be contrary to Malaga's philosophy. We want to create our own stars from the youth system and make the fans identify with guys they've seen come through the ranks."
So much for those plans. It's taken the mega-rich owner all of six months to be utterly seduced by the heady, dizzy brew that is football.
Following his firm investment in a first class coach, Manuel Pellegrini (ex-Villarreal and Real Madrid), who was brought on board in November, has added midfielder Ignacio Camacho and keeper Sergio Asenjo from Atletico Madrid; former Sevilla star Enzo Maresca; Julio Baptista from Roma; and Martin Demichelis from Bayern Munich. Malaga is also negotiating to add Mahamadou Diarra (Real Madrid) and Emmanuel Adebayor (Manchester City) to its rapidly growing roster.
As with all new year purchases, Malaga's shopping bag is full of the cheap, cheerful stuff you might regret buying and the odd purchase that could end up as a brilliant bargain.
From Pellegrini down to the least experienced player, Malaga has signed a cast of sportsmen who have won leagues and cups in Chile, Ecuador, Argentina, Germany, Greece, Spain, Greece, Italy and France -- plus the UEFA Cup, UEFA Super Cup and Europa League

http://espn.go.com/sports/soccer/news/_/id...site-directions

---------------------------

BTW is there any ikan bilis fans (Los Boquerones) here who want to take over this thread. This thread will be a perfect foil for Barca/RM posters.

For example when under SGE we won the derby at both ends.

And then won the jackpot first with Taksin takeover and then now with the Sheikh.

But nonetheless we still have no glory yet.
Meanwhile City welcome new citizens to ride the future.

European Super League

The ESL has been touted as early as 2006 and has just been revisited by Perez
http://www.newsoftheworld.co.uk/sport/391216/Florentino-Perez-dreams-of-a-Euro-Super-League-instead-Real-Madrid-boss-in-threat-to-the-Prem.html

According to some sources the league will start in 2012 comprising of the following 24 clubs
Real Madrid FC
FC Barcelona
Sevilla FC
Valencia FC
Liverpool F.C.
Arsenal F.C.
Chelsea F.C.
Manchester United F.C.
A.C. Milan
Juventus F.C.
F.C. Internazionale Milano
A.S. Roma
FC Bayern Munich
BV Borussia Dortmund
Hertha BSC
Olympique Lyonnais
Olympique de Marseille
Paris Saint-Germain F.C.
F.C. Porto
S.L. Benfica
AFC Ajax
PSV Eindhoven
Celtic F.C.
R.S.C. Anderlecht [/i]

For most of us with no vested interest or regional or national affiliations we welcome top flight football and clamour for the best product to be put out.

However this is a gamble and the risk is mitigated if there is a trillion dollar offer from Asian television companies sitting on the table. Why am I saying that?

Personally, I don't think it will happen. Why?

IMO, The EPL is the best prime league (BPL) and the most lucrative already. The CL (aka European 'super' league) exists already
with the usual premier leagues teams dominating the playoffs. The top 4 EPL teams garnered most of the spoils from EPL and CL matches. So why shouldn't they maintained the status quo?

If we replace the bottom teams (colored purple above) with the other 14 EPL teams don't you think we have a better product. The usual derbies and crosstown rivalries that stir and whip us (Citizens, Villans, Spurs, Pompey, Cottagers, Zebras, Toffees etc) into frenzies and passions. Like Citizens thumping the 2007 EPL champion.

OK. Your opinion however trivial is welcome here in this thread.

San Francisco's Peacock

From another Malaysian....

" My uncle (he is 85 years old) a retired school teacher from KL, visited me in San Francisco a while back.

We were sitting in a rapid transit (BART) train when I noticed he was watching a teenager sitting across him.

This white punk had spiked hair in all different colors.

My uncle kept staring at him. The teenager would look and find him staring
every time.

When the teenager had had enough, he sarcastically asked, 'What's the
matter old man, never done anything wild in your life?'.

Knowing my uncle, I quickly spit out my chewing gum so that I would not choke on
his response, knowing he would have a good one.

'Got drunk once, and had sex with a peacock. I was just wondering if you
were my son, ' without batting an eye in his repartee. "

24/7 Football Parks

We should built more parks with football fields that are 24/7 i.e. lit at dusk. 'Multi-tasking' other sports, Badfminton courts (or other sports) can be implemented side by side.

The dearth or lack of easy, multipurpose parks with football fields has led to the decline or downward spiral of our football "prowess".
Futsal will just provide a subset of football skills, does not enhance or provide other football skills (such as width to width or long passes etc.) not to mention feel of natural turfs etc.
Stamina and Fitness that comes with running full tilt for long stretches is a must in competitive football. Can we in an arena?

Football and badminton are some of the major sports that we can provide a milieu to develop our nations youth fitness and competitiveness.

A PREMIER League football star broke down in tears

Source: Daily Star - http://www.dailystar.co.uk/news/view/65955...1m-in-a-night-/

"A PREMIER League football star broke down in tears after blowing £1million at a casino in one night.

Gamblers were stunned when the player – a household name – sobbed after frittering away the cash in an amazing run of bad luck.

The multi-millionaire star, a regular in his national team, had been drinking before hitting the roulette and poker tables.

As the losses piled up, he looked sick and wailed: “What have I done? My mum can’t know about this.” "

Who?
- Owen ?(not a regular england player)
- Rooney ? (could he be that stupid ?)
- Gerard? (absent from one England game?)
- Bridge?
-CR ? (is thats why he crashed his Ferrari?)
- your guess ?

This footballer obviously is a degenerate gambler. fully addicted or lack discipline and willpower to quit or

is it the clubs fault for piling tons of quids (£1## ,000) every week on him. What does he do with all this money?

What does it say about Pro Footballers (especially EPL) in general.

French Fry

Jacques Macdonald entered urologist examination room.
"Promise me you won't laughed, " said Jacques.
"Off-course not. I'm a professional. In over 35 years I've never laughed at a patient" said Dr. Uri solemnly.

"OK then," Jacques dropped his pants, revealing the tiniest "french fry" the doctor had ever seen.

Unable to control himself the doctor started giggling, fell and started rolling on the floor laughing. Five minutes later he was able to struggle to his feet and regain his composure.

"I'm very very sorry," said the good doctor. " I really am. I don't know what came over me. On my honour as a doctor and a gentleman, I promise it won't happen again. Now what seems to be the problem?"

"Its swollen," whispered Jacques.

Rumours flying left and right regarding Manchester City's owners , the wealthy Abu Dhabi United Group , been linked with a bid in the region of £100m for the AC Milan player Kaka with offer of a £500,000 weekly wage.

I won't be surprised if they land ronaldinho and or Dida.
