Bad Tint Workmanship!?

Just had my car tinted the other day. Noticed so many hairline scratches in the rear windscreen near the bottom part. When I point out to the tint shop workers they said it's normal and based on best effort basis. I know they have been rushing and working late due to Raya so I can say they are sloppy.

Problem now is I don't know whether to believe it's considered "normal" and whether I should push for a retint. Since it's the rear windscreen I'm worried they may spoilt the demister lines if they try to pull off the old tint. Furthermore have to take out the backseat and the adjacent board panel which may lead to further issues.

So it is normal to have all these scratches during the tint installation process? Please note its only noticeable when you try to look for it and under certain lightning but there are dozens of it. Only seem to affect the rear windscreen.

Should I tender now or wait?

I'm currently working in a deadbeat position where I'm mostly pushing papers around. Hours are pretty ok most of the time and don't really have any issues with management although my manager could be diffilcult at times. Problem is I'm starting to hate what I'm doing and it takes a lot of effort to get up and go to work every day to the extent that resigning is what I'm thinking about every single day.

Question is whether should I just tender now giving 2 months notice without securing a job due to the mental stress I have been having because of this issue or should I at least try to bear with it until bonus is issued which is in January then only tender.

I have been getting mixed ideas with some ppl asking me to wait at least until get the bonus but that would mean I can only resign in January (after getting bonus) and serve my 2 months notice until March 2012 which is six months from now. I'm not sure if I can bear 6 more months.

Others just advised to follow what my heart is saying which frankly is a very diffilcult decision to make. Some even suggest getting a job first then only tender irregardless of the bonus. Financially I able to support myself for about 6-9 months without work but not sure if it's silly not to wait for bonus.

Hope I can get some constructive advice here. Thanks!

Offset Notice Period with Annual Leaves

To give a simple example, let's say you need to serve 2 months notice period when you want to resign and you just happen to have enough annual leave to offset the 2 months notice period by 1 month so you only need to work 1 month only. Question is how many month salary will you be paid?

Scenario A
You will only need to work 1 month but will get 2 months pay

Scenario B
You will only need to work 1 month and only get 1 month pay

Logically I would assumed that Scenario A is the correct scenario. My argument is that annual leaves are paid leaves to begin with and you're applying to have your paid AL falls on the last month of your notice period to the effect that it reduces your notice period but technically you're still employed on last month.

Streamyx down EVERYTIME AFTER raining

For some reason my streamyx will be downed after raining everytime without fail. It will only be fine after 1-2 days but everytime it happened, I have to lodge a report and I have to speak to the idiot on the line who ask me to check the modem/splitter and god knows what which is totally irrelevant. And you know Malaysia rains a lot, sometimes it will be down for up to 2 days. So you can imagine how many days in a month it is down. Is this a perpetual thing I need to live with or is there something I can do at my end to fix it for good?

Got conned by a savings plan?

Here's the situation, let's say a person, X joined a savings plan (higher interest rate) introduced by an insurance agent of a reputable insurance company. Now X has to banked in a certain amount of payment every month to the insurance company for 10 years. X has already paid for 5 months thus far but now due to financial reasons, X now cannot afford to continue paying the monthly amount to the savings plan. X wanted to stopped but was told by the insurance agent that if he cancelled the plan now, he will have to forfeit whatever he has paid so far which could be a substantial amount. X is not seeking any interest whatsoever, just only the amount he has paid for 5 months.

My question is whether the insurance company can do something like this? Personally I feel it's daylight robbery. At the very least X should be refunded for the amount he has already paid under the savings plan. I'm surprised that a savings plan would have an outcome like this. Imagine if he has already paid 8 years but couldn't continue for the last 2 years

[Official News] Bandwidth Throttling by TMnet

I suffered from an oddly consistent slow download speed of 20k/B - 30k/B recently . Upload speed is unaffected. After suffering for a week, i called the 100 helpline and lodge a complaint in spite of the cable issue affecting international data transfers as this is affecting my local test results from TM Speedometer which shows a constant result of 300kbps of download speed. Today i got a call from one TM technician who claimed that TM is conducting test, on an area by area basis, on so called heavy users by limiting their download speed once a certain amount of data has been used by the subscriber. I was angry with his reply because no prior notice of this was given and secondly, when i signed up for the broadband service years ago, it was suppose to be unlimited. Further, when i enquired what's his definition of heavy users and light users, he says heavy users are those who exceed the cap of 10GB (!!??) and light users are those who do the occasional web surfing. I shoot back and asked why will i need to pay for a 1Mb/s connection just for surfing the internet? Besides, isn't 10GB too low of an amount for an internet user? (what the hell are you going to do with 10GB?!) He still insist that it's for testing purposes and they were acquiring public feedback on this.

Well obviously no subscribers is going to be happy about this. TMnet has already been throttling p2p traffic and now they are testing some bandwidth limitation on our "unlimited" broadband packages? This means we can't even do too much of direct downloading on our "high" broadband speed. No point paying so much for 1Mb/s-4Mb/s if at the end of the day, you will end up with 30kB/s of download speed which is just right for web surfing. This is not what we signed up for. Given TMnet's current business tactics (overselling bandwidth while maximising profits), i have a bad feeling this wouldn't be just for testing purposes.

Just wondering whether anyone have gotten the same confirmation from a TM representative.

Hi all! Can anyone recommend a good ipod speaker for the budget of RM300 - RM 400 with the following features:-
1. Powered through AC adapter (portability is optional)
2. FM Radio
3. Remote control
4. Nice design
5. Best sound quality for the price

Did some research and narrowed it down to Altec Lancing moondance Home and Logitech Anytime but the review for these two is kinda mediocre.

Altec Lansing moondance Home

Logitech Pure-Fi Anytime

Am open to other brands as long as it meet the above criterias.
The Best Water Repellent for Windscreen / Glass

Pls post your review and experience on any water repellent that you've used. Is there any products which can offer a long lasting coating? Saw some thread HERE and HERE selling some nano-coating technology which can repel rain for one year but not much review on it's effectiveness.

I'm currently using Rain-X

Pros:
1. Work as claimed
2. Cheap

Cons:
1. Think it's spoiling my wiper (doesn't wiper smoothly anymore)
2. Doesn't last long (1 month maximum)
3. Hard to buff off

Is there anything better than Rain-X?
