I am going to New York for first stop, and followed by Chicago and Florida for a business trip. I am departing from Hong Kong.

I already have my 10 years B2 visa ready. Any advices before travelling to the US? Like any other documents to present (other than my hotel bookings, travel itinerary and return flight ticket) once I touch down on the US soil?

I also heard that we need to apply for some kind of "permit" before depart to US, yes?

Guideline for getting China work permit

Documents required for NOTIFICATION LETTER OF FOREIGNER'S WORK PERMIT
1. Photocopy of passport PIP (at least 6 months validity)
2. Color photocopy of Academic certificate (translated into Chinese, both original and translated documents notarized by KPT, MoFA, and CVAC)
3. Proof of employment letter from your ex-company (Translated into Chinese, WITH COMPANY STAMP)
4. Certificate of Good Conduct (translated into Chinese, both original and translated documents notarized by MoFA, and CVAC)
5. Original letter proof of study from your university (for KPT verification purpose only)
*** KPT = Kementerian Pengajian Tinggi (Putrajaya)
*** MoFA = Ministry of Foreign Affairs (Putrajaya)
*** CVASC = China Visa Application Service Center (Jalan Tun Razak KL / Georgetown Penang)

Documents required for Z VISA
1. Original passport (at least 6 months validity)
2. VISA application form
3. Passport photos x 2
4. Notification Letter of Foreigner Work Permit

PROCEDURES:

1. First thing first, submit application to get your non-criminal record (Certificate of Good Conduct) here: https://ekonsular.kln.gov.my/
Note: Prepare and scan your passport photo (white background) and submit during online application, takes 1-3 weeks to complete, check the progress daily.

2. Once online status show "Ready for Collection", you may head over Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Malaysia to collect which will need to pay RM20 upon collection.

3. Go Institue Terjemah Negara Malaysia (ITNM) at Wangsa Maju to translate your ex-company referral letter, Certificate of Good Conduct and Academic Certificate into SIMPLIFIED Chinese. One page of certificate they charged for RM95.20, 3 days later come and collect. I opted for Express translation (collect on the same day) which they charged me double.
Note: Makhamah Rayuan no longer providing translation services, they already moved to Wangsa Maju permanently.
Tips: Certified (court) interpreter can do the translation too. Cheaper + faster.

4. Certify your Academic Certificate at Kementerian Pengajian Tinggi (KPT) Putrajaya, look for Helpdesk 6 (international student). Letter from your University is needed to proof that you have completed your study.
Note: Some told me that they are able to get over with digital copy of the letter from their phone. But it depends which officer you met at the Helpdesk. Mine was rejected by a fat lady officer.

5. Go back to Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Malaysia to notarize both Certificate of Good Conduct (translated) and Academic Certificate (ori copy and translated).
Note: Rm20 per copy.

6. Print this form: [url=http://www.visaforchina.org/KUL_EN/generalinformation/Downloadsauthentication/283181.shtml[/url] and complete it. Head over Chinese Visa Application Service Centre to have all the documents (Ori and translated CGC, Ori COPY and translated Academic Certificate) notarized.
Note: 4 working days RM164.80/copy, 3 working days (express service) RM378.80/copy. Legalization at Level 6, VISA application submission at Level 5. Go as earlier as possible as there will be a long queue before the center open.

7. 4 days later after you collected all the notarized documents from VISA centre, scan (*FRONT AND BACK*) and send your Letter of Good Conduct (original and translated), academic certificate (original COPY and translated), color image of passport PIP page, passport photo and ex-company letter (original and translated) to your recruiter in China.
Important: Embassy will notarize the document by putting a sticker on the back of the document, so you will need to scan the back page of your authenticated documents too.
Important: Health screening report is NOT COMPULSORY for NOTIFICATION LETTER. Your HR can submit "guarantee of good health" instead of health screening report. BUT, you will still need to perform health screening in China within 30 days of entry with your Z visa, before you can turn your Z visa into Work Permit.
Update: there are cases where Tung Shin's health report were rejected in ShenZhen and Shanghai. It is best that you do the medical exam in China.

8. Normally Notification Letter of Foreigner Work Permit (外国人工作许可通知) will be approved within 2-4 weeks. Wait for your employer to send you your notification letter once it is approved.

9. Bring your passport, VISA application form, passport photos x 2, Notification Letter of Foreigner Work Permit to Chinese Visa Application Service Centre to apply for Z-VISA. Collect 4 days later (Regular service, RM100).

10. Z visa is valid for one entry only and duration of stay up to three months. The duration of stay is listed as "000 days" on the visa page. The holder of a (Z) visa should go to the local public security department within thirty days of entry into China and convert the visa into a work and resident permit, which functions as a "temporary green card" and allows for unlimited entry/exit.

Once touched down in China:

11. If you did not submit any health screening report during your application for Notification Letter, then you may need to perform health screening in China (check with your HR which local government hospital is available for Visa Health Screening package).
Note: 8 hours of fasting required.
Note: At least 4 BLUE background of passport photos are needed.
Important: NOT ALL local hospital can perform health screening for work visa application. Check with your HR or local authorities.

12. To convert your Z visa into work and resident permit, you need to submit ALL your original documents and certified photocopy, including application form and employment contract that your HR submitted during application of Notification letter. And you are compulsory to take passport photo again in China. A receipt (回执) will be issued after you took the photo, and that the receipt you will need to submit later during application of Residence Permit.

13. You HR will need to submit another application (境内外国人来华工作许可通知) online. If there is nothing wrong with the submitted documents, the system will show “受理中" after 2-3 working days. Your HR will then need to go to the 人力资源部 to submit original hard copy of your documents for verification.

14. Once 受理成功, system will shown "证件已打印" and "证件信息已查验". Now your work permit is ready to pick up at the 人力资源部.

15. After collected your working permit, your HR will need to go to the police station (派出所) to apply for temporary residence permit.

16. With the temporary residence permit and working permit, your HR should bring you to the local police station (市公安局) to apply for residence permit. Collect after 10 days.

14. Enjoy your life in China!

1. Health screening can be done in Tung Shin Hospital KL ONLY, or in certain China hospital or China international travel healthcare centre after you arrived in China with your Z visa.
Note: To perform health screening in Tung Shin (Jalan Pudu), you will need the chinese form (link at below) to be printed out for your doctor to fill up. Important: You need to translate them into Chinese. I would prefer you to complete your health screening in China instead.

Working Visa (Z): Visa needed to enter China for working purposes with a validity of 30 days. This document has to be replaced by the Resident Permit (which will allow foreigners to reside in China) within 30 days from the entry date.
Foreigner’s Work Permit: document delivered in China to foreign workers after proceeding accordingly with the local authorities.
Residence Permit: Document replacing the Working Visa on the passport in order to legally remain in the country and travel abroad without restriction during the employment duration.

Hey guys, I'm a form 5 student this year and currently applying for Foundation in Science at UTAR PJ, Jan intake. I'm science stream student and consider good in Chemistry and Biology (my physics is not that good because I doesn't like those calculating), and I love Chemistry the most. I'm quite enjoy with those lab works and I'm not good in communicate with others. Anyone out there can guide me what degree suits me? I'm thinking of Biotechnology, Biochemistry, or Chemistry.
