Buying Used Car from Used Car Dealership

I'm currently eyeing on a used car from a used car dealership. It's my first time buying a car and would be really grateful if members can help in explaining the procedure by buying from dealership.

1. I'd want to do a pre-purchase inspection with independent mechanic. Would dealer normally allow this in Malaysia? If yes, how's the procedure typically like? Deposit required?

2. What's the market rate for all the fees other than car price? (i.e. agreement fees, thumbprint fee, transaction fee, etc?) What are the other fees expected from dealer?

3. Is there any fees that shall be typically borne by dealer when a deal is made?

4. Is it standard practice to purchase insurance through the car dealership?

5. Lastly, any review or feedback from Instant Portfolio Sdn Bhd at OKR AUTO CITY Old Klang Road?

OS / SSD Failure

Hi, my 2011MBP stop working all of a sudden after not using it for about 1 week. It was previously running on OS High Sierra. When I switched my mbp on, it only shows white screen. My OS was installed in my SSD. And the only way to keep my MBP running is that I had to switch to my HD and install a new OS on it and only it operates.

From there I got into disk utility and tried to repair my SSD but does not work. It was showing my SSD but first aid does not work. I took out the SSD from my MBP and tried to read it using another MBP and still the same. First aid does not work as well. Reformat is my very last resort as I still have important data in my SSD and wish to recover them.

Anyone knows what's the possible cause or any reliable restore service within KL area?

Mileage or age for used car?

Hi all, I am in dilemma in getting a CRV here in NZ for my working holiday. There are few CRV currently within my budget listed online and most of them are 95-97 CRV with over 200,000 - 230,000km behind. However, there is this particular 2004 CRV (new design) which had over 350,000km. The owner stated that it was mostly on open road/motorway and was regularly being serviced. From 6-7 images posted of the car exterior and interior, it appears to be well taken care of.

Now the question, which one would be a better choice in term of reliability?

How do you carry your camera gears on travel?

With the new strict enforcement of AA with their carry on baggage, just wondering how do you guys normally carry your camera gears when on travel? Especially professional photographers who carry few lenses, bodies and batteries, which easily exceed the 7kg restriction.

Was suggested to load some to waist pouch with a winter coat over your body with it seems not too practical when traveling to warmer countries.

For myself, what I did in the past was to load most of my lenses into my camera backpack, and the remaining lenses + accessories into my f-stop icu, which will then either go into my cabin bag or check baggage if I am carrying a big luggage with extra protection using my clothes.

How about you guys? Would like to see is there any other option to carry my gears.

Canon to Fuji

Hi all, need some help here. I have been using canon system for the past 8 years, from 400d to 40d and now 6d, however in recent months, i am kind of wanting to change to another mirrorless system main reason being the weight issue. I do travel quite often and do some hikes and normally when I hike, I do bring my 70-200 along as well for some tele landscape shooting, which makes my backpack heavy.

With the new XT-2 receiving a lot of positive reviews and it seems like more and more shooter from other system are jumping to Fuji, it makes me kind of wanting to jump as well. However, I am not 100% convince for now and therefore needing some help here from fellow shooters.

Some might ask me to get into fuji system and still keep my canon system, unfortunately, i currently do not have enough money to keep 2 systems. I will need to get rid of my canon system and only i can change to fuji. Also, sony is currently not in my mind as the af lenses size tend to be more or less same as canon ef sizes.

So here are some questions.

1. For ex-canon FF users now Fuji user, what are the reasons that made you switch to Fuji other than size?

2. For current canon FF users that wanted to change to Fuji, what is holding you back to Canon?

Btw, other than travel photography, i do street and sports as well. And sometime events.

It'd be great to hear some words from different users.

Item(s) conditions: Mint with very little marks. The camera itself is still very new, I'd rate it 8.5/10. There are very teeny mark on the left side of the top plate, this however is quite hard to spot. The camera doesn't have any issue with the infamous sticky blade problem. Lens is considerably clean with some dust in it. This will not affect the picture quality.

MBP won't charge

Hi, I have a 2011 MBP 13'. I have problem with my mbp as it will not charge when it's on and will only charge when it's off. Once I switch it back on, it will change back to green light and showing that 'battery is not charging'. Even if it charges when the mbp is off, it will take forever to charge. I left it overnight charging and the power only increase like 10-20%.

I had done the following but none of this work.

Replaced a new battery (however, this already happened with my old battery, and therefore i replaced it hoping for the best)
Tried 3 different chargers
Reset PRAM and SMC
Clean my charging port

Anyone experiencing similar problem before?
