File fetching from ftp server

I have a friend would like to share me his ftp server data for a short of period of time. The total information in his ftp server is around 100G & I think I am not able to download it all in time with my poor, slow, not stable @!#$$ 1Mb streamyx.

Is anyone here can suggest possible solution?

P/S: I don't mind to pay for online storage (http, ftp) as long as I can download it all before the 'open' period end.

I would like to buy ext HDD for 1TB or 2TB in desktop style.

1) Which brand is recommended now? So far I know WD My book & Buffulo (don't know what model) has good rating value for money.
2) How much the price now?
3) Is there any different if I connected via firewire & USB?
4) Do I need to get a firewire to save my USB slot?

It's cracking my head...Pls help~~

Hi all, I am wondering any laptop with easy payment scheme? That's mean I have no ned to pay in lum sum. I am helping my friend to ask, she is a low income worker monthly salary is RM650 only , so it is impossible to her to buy laptop in lum sum. She has no credit card cause bank won't aloow her to get one with RM650 income. She has enquired Courts, but she need to pay RM6000+ in total including interest for a RM2700 HP laptop. This is way too high and not worth. Any lowyater familiar with the easy payment scheme here, kindly recommand to help out my poor friend.

Appreciate if anyone here can give some valuable comment.

Problem details
Just wanna know which LED indicate there is connection available. i recently buy this modem form lowyat. juz wanna know, there are 7 LED on it. Power/ Status/ ADSL Link,Act/ 1-4 (Ethernet) Link Act.
