live cd>install?

Hi all
I'm wondering if anyone here can give me pointers on how to install a Live CD that doesn't have an installer?
My situation is this....I'm running ELive 1.7.9 unstable version and it doesn't include an installer with it.....and from what I know when it boots up to the desktop it is actually running a decompressed filesystem. So is it possible to somehow copy the whole thingy to my hd complete with grub so as to boot from the hd?
