Degaussing harddisk before RMA

hi,

i want to degauss my disk before filing for sending back to service center for RMA. is placing the disk near door magnets and move it around for a few seconds enough to ensure the data inside is not recoverable?

i am not able to power up the disk anymore to verify this, suspect the controller is faulty.

Conflict of Interest

i'm thinking of quitting my current company and join one of the competitors. looking back at the employment agrement of my current company, there is this clause to stat that i shall not sell and promote the products that my current company carry.

is it common for employers in malaysia to sue employees that breach this contract clause? what is the process involved to sue an employee in this case and will they do it in small companies?

my current company is a small local company with around 15 headcount.

in ur lifetime, have u been thru a period where u feel u r lost. u don't know what is the next thing u should do, other than the routines of life, wake up, bath, go work, come back, eat, bath, then sleep.

not that u dun have entertainment, u still go for movie once or twice a week with ur friend, u play sports, u still call ur parents at hometown to ask about thier well being, but everytime the night comes, u know tomorrow u have to get up at 8.30 am and start preparing to go to work and wait until the day ends before this all can be repeated again n again n again.

the feeling is like u wan to change, u wan to do something, but u just duno what to do and what u should do. ppl said set a short term goal, but the thing is u duno.. u just feel to sit there and rot and wait for something to happen. u want something to happen and yet u are unclear.

this thing is killing me now. i had this before but it went away when u r busy consecutively for a couple of week. otherwise, it just keep coming back.

u know u need to change, but to what? from where? for what?

WinXP can't find SATA driver during copy files

1. Load Win XP setup from DVD and I press F6 to load in the SATA drivers from my diskette.

2. Everything is fine. Win XP setup can detect the SATA drives and I can select partition I want to install Windows to.

3. The setup then run disk check and its fine.

4. Setup then attempts to copy Windows file into the partition.

5. First 3 files are the SATA files, VIASRAID.INF, viasraid.sys and 1 more i forgot. Windows now tries to copy the files from my A: to C: so that the files would be integrated into Windows.

6. However, it will always say cannot file the files. I did see it's reading A, but it just won't pick up the files there. This is strange coz step 1 is always successful.

7. i have to skip all the 3 files, setup now copies all the windows files and then reboots the pc. since step 6 was skipped, windows cannot boot my pc coz there's no sata drivers in there. the dark blue screen appears and i have to switch off my pc.

initially i thought it's the diskette problem, but after changing to other diskettes, it's the same. setup still cannot find the sata drivers when it's copying windows files to the partition.

anyone have similar experience?

hello brothers need help here. just bought a new H500 with low price. the manual says only need to charge for 2 hours and the LED will be on during charging. LED light will be off when charging if full. however, i charged mine for 3 hours already and the LED light was on at first but now it is now blinking. anything wrong with this unit?
